Marlene, I am so hoping the progress is continuing daily, and even better than you hoped. What an ordeal. And with a cold, too. I used to get so resentful when my Mother-in-law (God rest her beautiful soul) would say 'Moms are never sick.' I knew what she was saying...we just plug along sick or not. But dang, you just wanted to say 'I'm sick, for crying out loud and I know I have to take care of everything anyway, and I don't feel particularly noble or saintly about it, stop rubbing it in.'

I don't know where you live but I hope when the kids are out of school you can get them out of the house and do 'free' things every day even for awhile. How many kids? I've been in similar situations, but only had one child to entertain, feed and clothe.

I do feel for you and will add my prayers to the bunch sending up to heaven for you.

Yes, George Knightley is familiar with this look, and one would think that after years he would become immune to it, and though he will probably lecture her when she finishes explaining it, there is no doubt in his or hers mind that he will help her complete it. Marlene | 208 comments MichelleH wrote: "Marlene, I am so hoping the progress is continuing daily, and even better than you hoped."

(This is a bit on the long side for a comment. Feel free to skip this one!)

It is progressing daily, but it's down to one guy. Once the plumbers, electricians, and drywall people - whatever they're called - come out, progress will be faster. We're meeting with the contractor tomorrow to talk about options, tell him what we're willing to pay for, and what we think he should be paying for according to the contract. Fortunately, the do-or-die issue was less expensive than expected. Praise God! There are three smaller issues, but one of them could be extremely expensive. Or it could be free. Hopefully all will be clear tomorrow and we can make decisions and come to an agreement and then hopefully after that, things will move REALLY fast. Having 2-4 people working is a lot faster than one! One of the guys who was here everyday fell and broke his ankle last Monday. :-( Prayers are very welcome, still. Especially for tomorrow's meeting - at 12:30 PM Eastern Standard Time (actually apparently Eastern Daylight time right now).

I used to get so resentful when my Mother-in-law (God rest her beautiful soul) would say 'Moms are never sick.'

Yep. Moms chug forward as well as they can no matter what. When I get a stomach bug, however, I crawl into bed - or on the couch - and if at all possible, Dan is in charge!! I know it's hard for him, but he's a trooper.

I hope when the kids are out of school you can get them out of the house and do 'free' things every day even for awhile. How many kids?

Six. Ages 15 (almost 16), 13, 11, 9, 8, and 6!

Free is a frequent aim. Our area has a program that allows the kids in our school district to get a free game of bowling (including rental) every single day from May 1st to August 31st. So I try to take them bowling once a week. And yesterday, I got a hiking passport which gives me a nice list of nature trails. Actually, I got five passports - one for my town, one for Rochester, and one for each of three other towns. :-D We also have a beach - it's about a 35-minute drive, but the kids like that. And our college has an associated hotel, and as alumni, my husband and I are allowed to swim there for free. So I try to take the kids there once per week. So my free options are pretty decent. I just realized that we can't use the sprinkler this year because our lawn is mostly dirt.

I do feel for you and will add my prayers to the bunch sending up to heaven for you."

Thank you! I think the hardest part is to come - the last day of school is June 25th, until some time in July when it's done! And I'm going to lose my sink/stove/dishwasher during that timeframe once the plumber can get going. Eep! Sorry all if this was overly long. Feel free to skim.

Thanks for the update, Marlene. Yikes - No sink/stove/dishwasher in the middle of the summer with all your kids home??!! I'm seeing lots of fast food meals in your future! At least the do-or-die issue wasn't as expensive as feared.

Elizabeth's brother is friends with Darcy. Her brother is in the armed services and goes to India. There the fort he is with has an insurrection and it is discovered that there is a traitor who gave plans to show a secret way into the fort to the rebels. Many die, her brother is accused of treason. Both are married but her marriage is a FMS in the beginning. There is much more to the story but I do recommend it.

Debbie (dmbrown) | 633 comments Did not realize your #195 was still a WIP, Sheila, which I don't usually read until they're complete. Dang it, girl! Now I'm hooked after those first six chapters!! So I'm set up to follow it. Hope it doesn't end up being as long as your #196!'

Regardless, congratulations on being on the brink of entering Mr. Darcy's library. (You DO realize you're still one book away from saying good-bye to Colonel Brandon, right? His library starts with book #201, not #200!)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 769 comments And yet, Colonel Brandon's level is marked as 101 to 199 - see above??? But, no matter, I will make it. I have about five stories I am following but unfortunately some blogs don't send me notices thus I sometimes post the stories link here to remind myself to check for new chapters. I am following "Unexpected" which is a modern D&E variation which I highly recommend...among others, i.e., The Vicar's Daughter.

Enjoy the journey to Pemberley, Sheila. I'm hoping to join you there eventually, but it may be some time yet. Your 196 sounds intriguing - may try that eventually, if I feel like another really long read. This one sounds a whole lot better than The Rescue, according to your rating. And I must catch up with The Vicars's Daughter, too. Where is Unexpected being posted?

WE HAVE POWER!! Storms blew through last night and knocked out our electric. We were in the dark for about 8-hours. Lawd!! I didn't realize reading withdrawals were so bad. That knocked out my wi-fi and I could read the stories downloaded on my laptop but when the battery got low... knocked that. There isn't a data plan on my phone and I am in a near dead-zone with one bar, two if I am lucky. So... we used our battery operated LED lights. That helped me see to do the word search puzzles and my husband slept. He still isn't feeling well.

I have cut back on some of my activities on GR. It doesn't mean I don't love you guys... I am just occupied with RL issues. Looks like it is going to be another rough year.

Congratulations to everyone on your progress and I am so excited to see what you are reading. When I am online I will try to keep up with what y'all are doing. Dang... there's that thunder. Another wave of storms is headed this way. I better get off here. Blessings everyone.

But you still manage to be reading many GOOD and/or EXCELLENT stories, Jeanne. Great progress. You know you are in our prayers. At least your husband got some sleep which I imagine is always a good thing. I pray for nights when I can sleep. I am usually up 2 or 3 times and sometimes can't fall back to sleep easily. Take care. Hope this next storm doesn't knock out the electricity. And hope you got everything recharged.

I guess I am reading things that I love and/or comfort me. I'm following several WIP stories online. One, in particular, I am enjoying... Shields and Roses by LadyJaeza... it is a lot of fun. Lady Catherine is pure evil and Anne de Bourgh is not. 46 chapters so far and many are short.
