It's a mess. There are a gazillion lists, none of them especially focussed (although "Under London" I rather like), nothing for "set on the Thames"...
The juvenile/kids/YA/children's list rep is especially poor.
Anyway, more of a rant, but there's no segregation, and it's just hard to add to these lists. I don't have sufficient knowledge/confidence to subdivide London or its suburbs in this manner...

I don't have enough knowledge about London to be able to tell where it ends and the suburbs begin.
Books Set in London
Children's book featuring London
Looks like these are the two main lists, general, and then specific to kids. Although "featuring" is a little vague. The kids' list has got Harry Potter, but the majority of the book doesn't take place there.

Yeah, it might have been the HP content that was irritating me. >:p Ah well.
Hopefully there's a Listopia Addict with initimate knowledge of "The Big Smoke"!

Crushes in YA and Middle Grade Fiction
Lots of romance lists out there, but I realized there wasn't one for YA and MG books focusing on crushes.

Good one - I'll keep an eye out!

I used to add to at least one such list when someone was spamming here on this group, and I've just learned of an author who not only spammed into a reading challenge in another group last year, but who went on to track down two of its members outside of Goodreads and harrass and stalk them there. I really wanted to add that low-life's book to the list, because, of course, he's got an impossibly high rating by reviewers with a suspicious level of inactivity and some towering rating averages (just there to give out perfect scores, you see..!).
ANYWAY, the list I used to add to is gone, and I'm sure there were at least a couple in the similar vein, flagging abusive users and otherwise dodgy books.
And they've vanished now. (I didn't start the lists, so it wasn't a 1 user deleteable situation, either).
(edit: the only list that covers it, now, is the 'Inexplicable Listopia Votes' list. I haven't yet voted on it. I was voting on the main one...)

This list used to link to it, but now just leads to a a 404 not found.

That's the one!! Thanks, Rainbowheart. :) At least my memory of it survived.

I noticed it was gone a few months ago. There's one tiny general list for awful self-pub stuff: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...
(EDIT: and this one: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...)
But I appreciated the specific theme of that past list, calling out egregious promotional activity. If we recreate it, what will happen?

As usual. :p Stupid, pointless limit.

London and I are intimate but even if I could create better lists I think they'd have to be closely policed. Are there lists for specific periods?

There are lists for other historical periods in England, but not London specifically.

I'm writing a quiz for my Writers Circle, and I thought I'd have a table round of matching the named house/building to the book it came from (like Hogwarts -> Harry Potter, Tara -> Gone with the Wind etc). I want a range of books, different ages and genres, and thought there might be a list of them. But I've tried several search terms in Listopia and can't seem to find one. I'm not sure if I'm not searching properly or if such a list desn't exist. Would anyone be able to help?

https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/7... (Historical Fiction, House as a Character or Theme)?
'House' as a tag brings up some useful lists: https://www.goodreads.com/list/tag?ut... but I can't think of a specific helpful list off the top of my head... I made a 'school names in the title list' (https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...), but I guess a title thing would defeat your challenge.
Books like Brideshead Revisited and Jamaica Inn are sort of useless to you, aren't they?

Ah, yes. I see that I voted on it. It really ought to be '19th century London'. There should be a 'Medieval London', a '16th century London' etc as well. I prefer a lot of small lists rather than one big list for a city.

Thanks Capn. Somehow I missed your reply. I have looked at the list you linked earlier (I did try the 'house' search but it seemed too general and got hundreds of lists).
Yeah, if the name of the house is in the title of the book it's a bit of a giveaway.
I've got til Friday, and I have about a dozen, I'll make it work.

Rainforests and Jungles of the World
Books About Being Trapped or Stranded
As usual, I maxed out way too quickly. There are just so many "stranded on an island" or "lost in the jungle" books out there.

I can take overflow :)

I've reported just 2 of the accounts, but yeah, I don't think this can be managed on the user end of things. :S

I contacted support and I got some boilerplate response: "I've forwarded your concern about this to the relevant team so they can look into this for you. It's worth noting that investigations can take some time, but please rest assured that they do look into each case that is brought to their attention."

PSA:
Please don't click on any of the Text and Image Links in those spammy Listopia Lists about online gambling/ casinos/ gaming. (Many of the images are clickable.)
It's spam that might put harmful malware on your computer or device, or steal personal information. This is a serious problem that Goodreads is working on.

As Sem pointed out, they could just, you know, disable links in Lists...
IS there still a tech dept?! :S

Especially Image links; Shortened links (like bitly, cuttly, tinyurl, etc. -- who knows what they're linking to); and "Hidden" text links for external websites (not Goodreads) that use an Anchor tag (so you only see text like "read more"). That's just common sense.

I could have sworn there was, but nothing is coming up on searches.
Maybe the "Riding on Unusual Flying Objects (Covers)" list?

No wonder my newest list got so few voters. This is really awful. :(

I've got a sort of half complete new version lists page. It should look good if the pictures are ever added.
