I knew you were going to be ambushed - so was I. One of the best books in print. So glad you read and posted about it and that Heidi encouraged people to read it. This book is amazing. I need to do a re-read.
Currently reading A Better World
as my audio and 84, Charing Cross Road
.

Yup! Been there. Done that. So worth the read still though don't you think??
Heidi (Yup. Still here.) wrote: "Yup! Been there. Done that. So worth the read still though don't you think?? .."Absolutely. Yes. The book is brilliant!
I finished Dead Heat by Patricia Briggs this evening -- really enjoyed this installment in the series. The scene where Charles was driving the Cantrip agents at top speed through an unfamiliar area had me laughing out loud. Well, mostly it was Leeds "praying" in the back seat, LOL.
Nearly done listening to No Dominion
by Charlie Huston. I've also been reading The Buried Giant
by Kazuo Ishiguro.
Just finished No Dominion
by Charlie Huston. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
If you like your stories gritty, if you like your heroes to take a lot of physical abuse, if you like a good old-fashioned conspiracy, may I suggest this one!
(Of course, the hero and the villains and the innocent bystanders are all vampires...)
Just finished The Boy in the Suitcase
by Lene Kaaberbølhttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
What IS it with these Nordic crime authors? Really, I may have to adjust my thinking of the Nordic countries from now on...
Just started Kassandra Lamb's Ten-Gallon Tensions in Texas, A Kate on Vacation Mystery (A Kate on Vacation Mystery #3)
Finished reading And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie last night. I've also been reading the delightful The Buried Giant
by Kazuo Ishiguro. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I'm almost finished reading Skeleton Canyon by J.A. Jance. I also have The All-Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion by Fannie Flagg and Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See to read. I think I will read Hail to the Chef by Julie Hyzy after I finish the library books I have checked out.
I continued listening to Firestorm
by Nevada Barr and started reading Condition Purple
by Peter Turnbull
Started Accused by Lisa Scottoline last night while listening to the basketball game (Wisconsin v Carolina) -- which means while I did get about 20% into the book, I didn't read as much as I'd hoped. What can I say, that game was a real nail-biter -- unlike the KY/WV game, which was a complete blowout. I would have gotten even less read if I had cable and had actually been able to watch the game, LOL. I'll be watching the Elite Eight at a friend's house Saturday (On Wisconsin, and go Notre Dame!), so won't get much read that night, either. *VBG*
Finished As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride - great read and also A Better World- wow - great sci-fi thriller.
Just finished reading The Thing on the Doorstep by H.P. Lovecraft as included in The Complete Works of H.P. Lovecraft. Not his best story, but still wonderfully creepy!
I'm reading Infamy: The Shocking Story of the Japanese American Internment in World War II. As I was reading I was reminded of Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee. Same mindless hatred, so sad.
Just finished reading The Buried Giant
by Kazuo Ishiguro. What a delightful book! I highly recommend it!https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I just finished Condition Purple
by Peter Turnbull - book #5 in a very satisfying police procedural series set in Glasgow, Scotland.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I continued reading The State Counsellor: Further Adventures of Fandorin
by Boris Akunin last night. This is a great historical mystery series set in Czarist Russia. This particular book has a nice terrorism/revolutionary plotline.
Finished reading Accused by Lisa Scottoline Sunday night (love the gang at Rosato & Associates), and started The Prince and the Pauper by Mark Twain yesterday, though I cannot say I got very far.
Am about halfway through The Prince and the Pauper by Twain, but since the Nook needed recharging, I started another book, Haunted by Kay Hooper. Need to catch up before her next one comes out. ;-)

Yeah yeah yeah . . . no pressure there, right? ☺

I'm currently reading Rocky Mountain Heat by Vivian Arend, a romance novel about handsome, sexy cowboys. Yeehaw!!
Reading kind of an oldie, a prose book of poetry, so to speak. Winter's Bones. Remember the movie. Good show, but the "music" in the novel is awesome.
Just finished reading the first Lord Peter Wimsey mystery, Whose Body?
by Dorothy L. Sayers.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Yes! If you haven't tried the Lord Peter Wimsey mysteries, you should. If you like Agatha Christie or Ngaio Marsh, you'll love these.
I just finished reading a Governor General award-winning novel called The Origin of Species by Nino Ricci. Honestly, it was a bit of a let down, but I have pretty high expectations for writers of his accomplishment. The theme of academic angst, among other things, was kind of boring. I'll post a review explaining more in a day or two.
Kirsten wrote: "Yes! If you haven't tried the Lord Peter Wimsey mysteries, you should. If you like Agatha Christie or Ngaio Marsh, you'll love these."Sounds like one I should explore. Agatha Christie is my mentor!
People are reading some great books - Mark Twain & Dorothy Sayers are two of my favorite authors :)I am reading a Victorian classic, Ruth, and some poetry by Denise Levertov in honor of National Poetry Month.
I continued reading The State Counsellor: Further Adventures of Fandorin
by Boris Akunin last night.
