Psychology and writing (or writing and psychology) have always vied for the number one spot on my list of greatest passions. I am now a retired psychotherapist and can afford to spend as much time as I want on my writing.

Some people have asked me if my protagonist, psychotherapist Kate Huntington, is me. I wish! She's much more consistently kind and compassionate than I am.

My paternal great grandfather was named after Andrew Jackson and my grandmother said they were related to the former President. My mother was skeptical and pointed out to me one time that people often named kids after someone famous whom they admired.

I could have a heroine inherit her grandparents' house and discover evidence of being related to...hmm, maybe a famous pirate. (less)

Interpreting Dreams: Myths and Realities

by Kassandra Lamb ~ I belong to an online chapter of Sisters in Crime. Awhile back, someone started a conversation on there regarding inner monologues and mental images. That was interesting enough, discussing the variety of people’s experiences. (Apparently, not everyone talks to themselves internally, and some folks cannot visualize things in their minds readily.) And then the conversation segue

First, let me say that I totally enjoyed this book, once I got past what the main character did for a living. Then a bit later on, I hit a couple of other bumps. More on that in a moment.

This book is a combo of two of my favorite things, a well-written police procedural (with a female cop) and a ghost story.

"I don't know why this book isn't rated higher overall. Even though it's early in the year, I suspect this will be my favorite mystery of 2023 because it's currently one of my favorite mysteries of all time.
