See you in a few days!
Hi Ann. I cut my avocado in half. One half I wrap up as tightly as I can in plastic to keep air out. The other half I slice up in the jacket, fan it out some like they do at restaurants and drop sone pico de gallo on top. Makes a nice presentation.
Good to see you back.

I always am looking for Neil Gaiman books good for readathons. Anytime you have a suggestion, pass it along. . .
I'm getting there Vickie, fingers crossed 😉 I lowered just a bit the temp in fridge. Now I am chopping chilled fruits and vegetables. I can toss and mix later what I need to later.
Pico de Gallo
Chopping and Mixing
This batch is more about flavor than the spicy bite. The emphasis is on the tomatoes and cilantro with a small bite of onions, pepper, garlic, lime.
I will slice up a half of an avocado, fan out the slices, and drop some pico de gallo on that avocado. I am hoping for cool and attractive on another hot day.

Opening Event Survey:
1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today? South Texas, USA
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? I have started Zeitoun which is a memoir of surviving Hurricane Katrina. Also as always I am excited to read something by Neil Gaiman, this time Harlequin Valentine. Also I am jumping up and down excited to read Dear Ijeawele, or a Feminist Manifesto in Fifteen Suggestions by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to? Strawberry and Banana Smoothie. To honor my Tex-Mex culture, I will take smoothies to next level to liquados with bit of milk with add ins of vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg.
4) Tell us a little something about yourself! I have a container garden I am committed to. It started out as a succulent garden. Then neighbors gave me bits of their plants for mine--so more plants and different kinds of plants to love.
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to? It is hot hot part of summer so I will stay in apartment, probably not go to library this time for change of place to read. I may instead use the common areas of apartment to read in.

Sleep is so important! I woke up early but was feeling too tired to fully focus on my reads...

Pleasant dreams you two . I'm getting an ice coffee and starting my first read of the day . . . Woman's Day magazine .
Then on to a book .
Thanks all. What I didn't tell you all is that I have another infection at just the wrong time--at the time of the readathon. . . . I really want to go to bed to let the antibiotics work. I am fairly sure you will forgive me if I go back to bed. It will be a struggle to read, a not fun thing. . . . .See you next readathon.
