Cynda Loves to Read (Retired Thread)

Thank you, Cynda, I definitely try to be! I curse the day I damaged my eye. And as you say, as one grows older…
Happy readathon! Just a little over 1 hour to go...
Going down for a nap. Better to not get too tired. I am setting alarm for 2 full sleep cycles: 3.5 hours.
I'll be baaaack.
I'll be baaaack.

OUCH, Susy!!!

My eyes are out of whack with my brain--caused by a long ago infection. So have to train brain and eyes to track together.
And my balance is..."
That's great that physical therapy and exercises will fix you up, Cynda! I've had good luck controlling a cornea problem with eye drops - until about five days ago :( Unfortunately, I'm travelling and can't get to the eye doctor for a couple of weeks. Luckily, the eye is not painful, just blurry and annoying.
Hope you had a good readathon! I'm already looking forward to the next one and being back on my game. Ha ha.
Hi Ann. Hi Susy.
I have slept fitfully. Too tired. Now I think I can really sleep now. Then off to physical therapy tomorrow.
Take care your eyes, ladies. Ann I pray your eyes return to prefect selves asap. You too Susy. We three stand for eyes!

That’s outstanding progress ! You will have finished all six before the new year
I had way too many interruptions to make any serious progress ,but I was still glad to have enough time to participate .
Thanks Vanessa! I looked for your Blogless thread, but didn't find it. So I wish you wellhere. Hope to see you next year at Dewey:s :-)
Since we are doing a pickup readathon, I want to read more fun stuff that is on my 2021 challenge lists.

Deweys April 2022
Air Conditioning won't be replaces until May 3rd.
So cooler foods are in order.
Meals:
Making a crunchy asian salad:
https://www.budgetbytes.com/crunchy-a...
Topped with simple sauteed shrimp as the salad is flavorful
Go into grain (not flour) tortillas
Plus cold canned beans on side.
Staying Cool.
Snack
Pumpkin Shake with cinnamon and nutmeg--yummy
Treat
Probably a bag of Skittles.
Looking forward to seeing what others are thinking of eating.

Fortunately the air conditioner is not all the way out, that I live in an apartment with common areas, so if I need cooler, I just move into the building. Usually there is quiet corner or two.

I'm having a beef teriyaki salad for dinner, and for lunch/snacks I have cheeses, humus, peppers, olives and baguettes! Of course I will be having some nuts&raisins and chocolate as well :D

Stop by friends to chat and discuss the hours I co-moderate: 8 & 23. Thinking up questions.
Thinking:
Hour 8: What book continues to speak to you even after you have long ago finished reading it?
Hour 23: What is it about Dewey's that attracted you and keeps you coming back?
Those good questions?

i feel you on that! I had one of my AC units replaced three years ago (if i didn't know better I'd think from the looks of it that it was older than I am! LOL) and I had the second one replaced a couple weeks ago. I live in TX so functional AC is a necessity. I intentionally did mine early so I could get it done before temperatures amped up and everyone was clamoring for AC repairs and replacements.

Kelley, that is a good idea. I am glad my elderly parents do that and now my brother will call for them. I live in an apartment, so getting heard can be difficult. . . .I soldier on. I like the location, so I don't leave, not yet.
The temps are not bad yet, and only in hottest part of day does it bother me. . . .

I liked The Haunting of Hill House but I don't really remember it, I read it so long ago.
Hey Susan and Beth.
All the stories in The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories were goid, and some were eye popping good. The retelling of Little Red Riding Hood "The Werewolf" had an unexpected twist. Oooh noooo 😉

It looks like you had an awesome readathon, Cynda! I think I may add Roald Dahl myself next time. It would be fun to have a children's book or two in my stack. I'm pretty sure I read "The Haunting of Hill House" during a readathon. I'm a big Shirley Jackson fan.
Hopefully, you are well rested by now! If you're like me, readathons make you want to read even more. I guess that's what addiction is all about - ha ha. See you next time!
