Reese's Book Club x Hello Sunshine discussion
Judy, I think we have a similar taste in books. I also own "When We Believed in Mermaids" I haven't made my way to reading it yet but soon :-)
and yes Sketch, that is the best of books and reading, so many genres and different types of books and with everyone coming from a different background, books and genres resonate with people differently, some we love together, others we agree to disagree but it's all about mutual respect for each other and our mutual love of books and reading. I love it. I hope you enjoy your next book more ;-)

Yes I would love to but I listened to the book a few months ago. But would love to share thoughts, etc about the book. I’m in !!’

Jasmine wrote: "Cool, when do you want to do this skketch? Is December 1st too soon? or do you guys want to pick a book for all three of us to read together?"I think Dec 1st would work. I will try to time my current reads to finish up by then. I can have it done in about 4-5 days depending on how real life scrambles things. How about you Jasmine?
skketch, I work full time and I'm a chore care provider so I do most of my reading on the weekends, if we start on Tuesday, Dec 1st, We can start our discussion on Monday Dec 7th. Does that work for you?
Tanya, my friend just finished The Invisible Life of Addie Larue, by V.E. Schwab. She loved it, said it was terrific. Just thought I’d let you know. I have it on my TBR list now.
Reading the Great Alone by Kristin Hannah, and enjoying this..now that we are entering the holidays, I anticipate less time for reading, more time for holiday prep, family time, some online shopping.
I just finished listening to The Glass Hotel.
Strange, but interesting. Here’s a link to my four star review:

LOOKING FOR A "HOT OFF THE PRESSES" NOVEL TO GIVE YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY THIS HOLIDAY SEASON? Look no further--Beyond: A Tale of Discovery on the Other Side of Life
Beyond is a supernatural thriller based on the groundbreaking idea that humans finally make visual contact with ghosts via gifted ‘seeing’ dogs and a newly developed AI software whereby the dogs wear a headset and the apparitions can be seen on a computer screen.
Most of the drama takes place in the haunted Crescent Hotel located in San Francisco. The story begins with Laura Haskell, an established, boozy author of fantasy fiction who lives in the penthouse, of a haunted hotel with her amazingly intelligent white German Shepherd, Cloud. Laura inherited the famous boutique hotel from her eccentric grandmother, Elizabeth Schuster, a notorious madam of ill-repute.
Cloud’s POV is sometimes shared as an anthropomorphic literary device. He is the hero of the story representing the contributions to life that all God’s creatures make.
The drama part of the story is filled with several suspenseful subplots: 1. Through the use of this technology they discover the mystery of who Laura’s grandfather was. 2. There is a malevolent apparition that terrorizes Laura for a time.
Other subplots: The sobering up of Laura, the main protagonist, and her love story with the Sean, the dreamy ghost finder who ends up marketing his ghostly adventures to FilmFlix.
The finale: After all this plus, the subsequent marriage of Laura and Sean in a Scottish Castle, the story takes an unexpected hairpin curve in the final chapters. You will laugh and you will cry and sometimes your jaw will drop on the ground in disbelief, but after reading this novel, you will forever wonder: could that be what is like Beyond?
I am reading Caste: The Origins of our Discontents, by Isabel Wilkerson. Ms. Wilkerson thoroughly researched the issue of caste and provides a distinct depiction between caste and racism.
A great book to maintain weight during this holiday season.
A simple solution to america's weight problem
Just finished “ Caste” by Isabel Wilkerson. Could not have read a better book during these present and recent historical times! 5 stars
I have three on the go: too close to the falls by Catherine Gildiner, A Gentleman In Moscow and I’m listening to The Great Pretender by Susannah Cahalan All will be finished soon, this weekend I hope, and then all new reads for December
I just finished listening to The Good Lord Bird
Five big stars and especially good as an audiobook. Here’s a link to my review:

Donna wrote: "Just finished “ Caste” by Isabel Wilkerson. Could not have read a better book during these present and recent historical times! 5 stars"I totally agree. Most important book I’ve read so far in 2020 .
Just finished American Dirt. Definitely added to one of my all time favorite books. Despite some criticism of the author I thought it was a phenomenal book.
I thought was phenomenal as well! I reviewed American Dirt early on when the author was getting so much negative press. As much as I’ve read about the plight of Mexican authors and why they resent this book, I will never understand why everyone can’t write a book about anything they want to and a hope to hook an audience who likes their work. Jeanine Cummins wrote a hell of a story—she deserves all the accolades people want to give her!
On Earth we're briefly gorgeous by Ocean Vuong - so much beautiful language and so hard feelings of the main characters...
