I just started the Lonesome Dove series. I'm reading them in chronological order instead of order written. So far really good reading.

I started Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov . It’s quite.....uncomfortable. But it’s a classic, so I’m trying to read it through.
Melissa, I have that as a TBR. Reading it this week. I just finished A Clockwork Orange and felt the same. I liked the ideas and creativity of the book, but reading it was really hard. Some books just don’t work for everyone, classic or not.
I am currently reading The Hobbit; it's it was recommended to me, but I am struggling to follow it and stay with the story plot. All classic books seem to have this effect.
TOO LATE by Colleen Hoover. Not her usual semi-sweet romance. A main character is a super hard core bad guy!
Just read "No Happy Endings" by Nora McInerny, loved it! Currently reading "Know My Name" by Chanel Miller.
The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by V.E. Schwab - great nook. Listened to it as an audible and it was done really well!

I mix between audio books, ebooks and hard copies so I can keep track of m..."I read From Baghdad, With Love when it first came out. A wonderful written book and full of love. Every dog lover needs to read that book!!!
Jasmine wrote: "Hi Judy, I hope you feel better. ankle injuries are no joke"Thank you ! I've been dealing with this since April 30 but I have more time to read !!!!
Kelly wrote: "I'm currently reading Anxious People by Fredrik Backman"Excellent book and made me laugh out loud!!!
Hey Kristen! I agree....it’s hard when an author writes about really uncomfortable and taboo subject matter and you’re trying to subjectively read the novel for its merits. I’m having a hard time finding why Lolita is such a well loved classic when the topic is so outrageous. But I can see how the writing style is valued. It is amazing. So I guess I’ll chalk it up as one of the classics read list and move on!
Just finished the Library Book by Susan Orlean, I thought it was really enjoyable. Now I'm focusing on Ain't She a Peach by Molly Harper as a nice easy read.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a book? I just finished The Hobbit, and I am looking for something not so classical.
Ana how about a modern day Agatha Christie? The Guest List by Lucy Foleyor a quirky character like Don Tillman from The Rosie Project
or if you haven't discovered it yet... Where the Crawdads Sing
Where the Crawdads Sing is a great book. I read it about five times already 😄. What is The Guest List about?

Still reading Pet Semetary. I am loving it and I am enjoying listening to Inspection by Josh Malerman
The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes. I've had it sitting in my Audible library for ages and thought I'd check it off the list. Was in the mood for a Diane Chamberlain.
@skketchI loved The Daughters of the Night Sky. I have it a 5 star review. I read some of it but I mostly listened and I connected with it.
What are you struggling with? Are you listening to it or reading it?
Really? At Your Age?: A Better Late RomanceHaving a lot of fun with this member of the Better Late Romance collection. I love romance stories with people who have lived and are still ready for more.
I just finished When We Believed in Mermaids by Barbara O'Neal. I loved this book about 2 sisters that survived being raised by neglectful parents, tragedy and sibling jealousy. So beautifully written. I was sad when it ended.
Jasmine wrote: "@Judy I own The Paper Bracelet. let me know how you enjoy it."
Jasmine, so far I'm loving it! I love the way the author writes. Each chapter is about a different character!
Thanks for asking!

That's why there are so many books and so many different genres out there because some books will resonate with some and not so much with others. This one was one of those for me. It just wasn't what I wanted from the subject matter. I expected more tension, more substance, more depth. So for me, that's why this one didn't work so much for me. But, it was interesting from the standpoint that I never knew about an all-female regiment in a flying corps. That in itself was very cool!
