I'm busy reading The use of Lateral Thinking by Edward de Bono; Hard Times by Charles Dickens and re-reading Psycho-Cybernetics by Dr Maxwell Maltz.
Half-way through Wolves of the Calla by Stephen King. Also started The Idiot by Dostoevsky and Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Christie.
Heather wrote: "The Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America’s Shining Women by Kate Moore"A shocking read! Appalling what people will do for $$$$$$
Your heart will break for these women.

It's so good and one of those reads that just makes you mad! If you enjoy it, I also recommend the Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.
I just finished The Exiles, by Christina Baker Kline. I really liked it. The characters are great and it explores history in Australia during the 1840’s. Started Swing Time by Zadie Smith.
I would definitely recommend American Dirt, thought that was a terrific book.
Vandana wrote: "Bear Town by Frederik Backman. I loved - A man called Ove"I would say this one is darker than Ove. But it is very good.
Vandana wrote: "Thanks for the heads-up Skketch. What are you reading?"I needed something lightweight, or at least what I thought was lightweight.... I Was Told it Would Get Easier by Abbi Waxman, and it is kinda lightweight but there are some contemplative themes couched in some witty and snarky fiction.
I have been trying to read Moby Dick, a classic right? Wow...what a difficult book to get into (for me)!
Skketch I am almost done with The Radium Girls and it is appealing, maddening, and shocking to say the least! I read Henrietta Lacks when it first came out and it was a great book too!

I'm gonna have to check that one out too. Thanks Heather!
wow, i just went back to the end of July to catch up on what everyone is reading and, wow, what a diverse selection of books and a variety of ppl. Its amazing the inclusivity of this group. i am currently reading the hard copy of "Big Girls Dont Cry" by Connie Briscoe and the E-book Zap Tales. Two very different books.
i think that's what I enjoy most about reading... being able to be a Black woman in1983 Washington, D.C. one movement then an Italian man serving life imprisonment in upstate New York in 2019. With books, you can be any person, anywhere, Any gender, and in any time period. and the transformation can take place whether you are washing dishes, driving, or flying in an airplane. Books beat movies any day. IMO

Couldn't agree more Jasmine!! 📚❤❤
Almost finished with THE PANTHER, by Nelson DeMille (a 2012 NY Times Bestseller). It's a down-to-earth spy thriller about terrorism in Yemen that doesn't bore you with politics. It's about a CIA mission in which a married couple go to Yemen to assassinate an Al Qaeda terrorist responsible for the bombing of the USS Cole. The protagonist is a wise-ass FBI guy who constantly cracks jokes. Forget the heavy subject matter -- this book is pure entertainment, and a fast-paced thriller!
Listening to "With the Fire on High" by Elizabeth Acevedo. And reading "City of Girls" by Elizabeth Gilbert
I am reading The Pearl That Broke It's Shell by Nadia Hashimi - It is really good! The Pearl That Broke Its Shell
