I agree. I am loving the details of the culture of India from the 1950s and I too, can picture the scenes she describes. I am midway through now and the book's got my complete attention!

the writing is splendid. the language and imagery is so imaginative and beautiful. and it's a love story unlike any I have ever heard or read about. it started a little slow but I'm thinking I'm going to give it 4 stars when it's all said and done
