Caste by Elizabeth Wilkerson. This is such an important book, thoroughly researched and documented. The author is a Pulitzer Prize winner, the book a page-turning work of nonfiction. Caste has expanded and changed the way I see the world, and how I see current news events. I will probably think about it every day of my life. Highly recommended to all.

Katie wrote: "Cheryl wrote: "Caste by Elizabeth Wilkerson. This is such an important book, thoroughly researched and documented. I read that and it was a very educational book to understand what was called "the great migration" of African Americans from the south and where they settled in the North and Northwest. It follows stories of real folks whose families made this journey.
I’m currently reading ‘Normal People’ by Sally Rooney! I read ‘conversations with friends’ last month and not sure how I felt about it but enjoying Normal People a lot more!

I have read so many the most recent was Small great Things by Jodi Picoult. Very good read. I like to try new Authors and I love Historical/Fiction. It has some historical events and facts but the story line can be murderous, thrilling, romantic, educational or just comical...it is fictional so you can go in so many directions. I am a fan and a writer of Historical/fiction. IRISH BONES
I just finished Magic Lessons by Alice Hoffman, which will be published next month.

I just finished Everything Inside by Edwidge Danticat. Tomorrow I will start Untamed by Glennon Doyle
Aida wrote: "I just finished The Silent Patient and I’m planning to start The Guest List tomorrow."Good choices!
Ms. wrote: "Is the Silent Patient any good?"Ms. E, it's got an ending I doubt you will have seen coming! It definitely took me by surprise!
Rebecca I love historical fiction also. I’m reading The Black Swan of Texas by Karen Robards. It is about WW2 and involves lot’s of spying and singing 😁 !!!
Just starting I Was Told it Would Get Easier by Abbi Waxman...it's a fun look at a mother/daughter tour of colleges. I love the smart and sarcastic banter. I think anyone with a teenager will see their own lives in this novel!
Hey ssketch! That sounds about right for my life right now! One in grad school and one in end of middle school! I’m starting Boys in the Boat for our reading group. The story of the 1936 Olympics and the American crew team who won against all odds. Then on to my next Historical Fiction! Many to choose from!

I am not sure I'd be able to do a teen again! Not with social media as part of the equation ... Ick!
Just about finished with In This Land of Plenty by Mary Smathers and Modern Lovers by Emma Straub. I am also re-reading my first novel, Things Unsaid, as I polish my second novel which picks up five years after Things Unsaid ends. With a continuation of the multigenerational Whitman/Foster family saga, the drama has evolved into a murder mystery: What did actually happen to Professor Schlepp at the end of Jules Foster's career as a professor? Secrets, lies and karma still shadow the main characters as they try to go on with their lives -no matter how damaging that can be.
Kimberly wrote: "I’m just starting One by One by Ruth Ware and Magic Lessons by Alice Hoffman."Both are excellent and I have read several novels by both authors.
I am currently reading The Night Swim (Megan Goldin) and Reading Instruction that Works (Pressley and Allington).
Started Untamed last night. If I didn't have kids I wouldn't put it down. I feel like I need this read

Just finished Range about being a generalist vs. a specialist. Now on to Everything Here is Beautiful.

Laura wrote: "Started Untamed last night. If I didn't have kids I wouldn't put it down. I feel like I need this read"I've had this on my to-read list, I just keep hearing different opinions on it. Some have told me it's great but then others say it's not good/doesn't really apply to married moms. But I think I'll have to give it a try.
Heather, I'm a married mom and I find it speaking to me. Maybe it's because I already feel this way, but if anything its more about being true to yourself. my friend had started it and didn't like it. She felt that she was preaching about being gay, but I don't find it that way. I also feel that not every book speaks to everybody.
