I spoke too soon because now the G-M tab moved back into 1st!

I have been so slow with challenges this year. Perhaps some tab rivalry is the kick in the butt I needed!
Out of curiosity (and spring break free time) I did an average for each tab of counts above 5 and under 40. 1st tab moves to just over 17 (currently 14.9); 2nd tab to just over 18 (currently 15.4); and 3rd tab moves down to just under 15 (currently 15.1).
Yeaaaaaaa A-F tab!
We have so many people with only 1 or 2 logged on our tab. I wish we could send out a message to everyone on it to remind them to log books, but I don’t know if that’s possible/feasible/overly annoying.

That link will take you to the master spreadsheet, but it definitely isn't a requirement! Just a fun tool to help us find books and see what others are reading.
And also a vicious competition, apparently 😂

Thanks! I just added myself :)
I'll have to revise my column sometime. I'm doing 3 other challenges in addition to this and was reorganizing my books read to better fit certain prompts.

I think the only way is to try and match them up with their plan threads and leave them a comment there, which could be time consuming. One person with 1 does have a link to their plan, but the rest just have their names to go on. Because it can be edited anonymously I don't think there's a way to message the spreadsheet users as a group.
But tab A-F doesn't seem all that far behind even with those stragglers. Go us!
I am A-F and haven’t updated for some weeks so this weekend I will try and remember to update so hopefully it will help with the statistics. :-)
I have a problem with the spreadsheet... I just added another to my list from the book I finished today but the total prompts complete isn't updating. Yesterday when I added my original completed books I typed the number in and screwed up the formula. Now I can't edit it and it's just stuck at the number 6. I'm the last one (Rachel R) on the N-Z tab... help?
I copied over the formula so it should now automatically update as you add books! I locked that section so no one can edit the formula :)

Emily I had a problem with formatting in the Indigenous prompt column. I was able to get my entry in, it was just not right somehow ( going to the bottom of the cell I think, I dont remember exactly) Not sure if anyone else is having the same issue. What I REALLY want to know is how many people are secretly competing with the person in the row next to them again this year LOL.
Fixed it, I think! It looks like someone may have cut and pasted something in the cell to another cell, and it erased the formatting that was there. Just had to fix the font and alignment.
I'm next to Ann S on the spreadsheet, and she already has 37 books read... so I'm definitely not competing against her (mostly because I'd lose). I am kind of checking on the people who are reading in order and seeing how ahead of me they are (because they are mostly all ahead of me lol)

Tracy- I’ve been keeping an eye on Steve’s progress since he’s 2 columns away from me and our numbers have been close! And, we are reading some of the same books but for different prompts. I don’t really feel like I’m competing with him, though, but I don’t want to slip back too far! 😂
Tracy wrote: "Emily I had a problem with formatting in the Indigenous prompt column. Or Sophie who is right next to me since we seem to be reading at the same pace.
I feel restricted because I am reading in order. lol. I cannot afford to let my competitive juices loose.
Bluegrass Pam wrote: "Tracy- I’ve been keeping an eye on Steve’s progress since he’s 2 columns away from me and our numbers have been close! It’s amazing that I can read 200 pages in one day and still feel like I’ve made no progress!
I’m also off this week so I’m not getting my usual 2 hours of audiobook a day with my commute.
Steve- That’s good to know! 😀 I read that whole A Song of Ice and Fire series in 2012 and that was all I read that year!
Jody wrote: "If anyone needs to feel good about their progress, feel free to compete with me. 😂"I think I'm the column to the right of you, Jody!
And I hadn't been keeping tabs on anyone else, or secretly competing, but maybe now...!
I've just been enjoying looking at the colour in my completed books cell getting more and more yellow, and now heading toward green!
I seem to have been next to a few different people, previously I was happy to be keeping pace with them, but somehow I'm now next to Elise who is nearly done! So now I'm trying to ignore it.I'm trying to keep in mind that I've not doubled up many books with Popsugar so I could have been nearly done too if I'd focused on ATY only.
Sara, I'm the same... Chrissy is two columns over from me and it looks like she's reading in order, so I may use her as motivation to keep reading.
Although, with my luck, she's probably just forgot to record books and she's actually done with 30 lolol.

lol. I'm having enough trouble just keeping the individual ticker from saying "you are behind". On the other hand, I just noticed there is a reject tab. I need to see if I can't plug in some reads there, which might make me feel better.
Oh great! I never thought to compete with the person next to me, haven't even looked. Great, something new to think about. I am just trying to read in order and stay up to date. Now Emily is in trouble. I'm after her.
I just noticed I'm next to Jill -- who has 24 books to my 18. But, since I'm reading in order and she isn't, it doesn't look quite so bad. I must say though, that I should look more closely at her choices - I like quite a few of them, and may have to steal a few ideas for some of the prompts I haven't done yet.
Ellie wrote: "I seem to have been next to a few different people, previously I was happy to be keeping pace with them, but somehow I'm now next to Elise who is nearly done! I suspect that trying to compete would make me shut down and not be able to read. Like in high school when I felt obligated to read course books.
But it’s also possible that I’m rationalizing since I’m about 20 books behind the people on either side of me 😂

Wow I opened Pandoras box with this discussion LOL. I'm between Steve and Pam, so no catching up for me....
Jody wrote: "If anyone needs to feel good about their progress, feel free to compete with me. 😂"Ha ha, or me 🤣 I'm not getting anywhere and I've just started reading A Game of Thrones again so it'll be a while till my next update!
I am going in order, and all caught up with my entries, Emily! Still a week behind, and I’m also falling behind in my other challenges, but I am enjoying almost everything I’ve read so it’s all good.
Love that, Chrissy, much more important to enjoy your reading than to check off tons of books. Hard not to fall behind sometimes.
It's all about enjoying the books! I'm on a mission to catch up, but I plan on fully enjoying my books in the process. It helps that this one is my only challenge, so I can read side reads if I'm not in the mood for whatever I have planned next.
I was behind on posting for the A-F tab. Back from a trip and added 5 books! I'm juggling 4 challenges but ATY remains my top priority.. while trying not to fall too far behind on other challenges.
The spreadsheet is not working for me today. Is it a problem on my end or is this Google? When I try a different browser, I see the first tab, but the other ones are blank. In Chrome, the spreadsheet won't open at all.
Ok it is ALMOST time to start working on the 2020 list and I am PUMPED. So excited, in fact, that I've updated our spreadsheet to prepare for the list-making festivities.
Last year, I had a tab that tracked voting (top prompts, bottom prompts, close calls and polarizing). I also had a Plans tab and a Recs tab, plus a Rejects tab for those of us interested in doing a Rejects challenge.
I'm thinking of leaving off the Recs tab this year... I feel like there were only a handful of people who used it, and the plans tab had plenty of suggestions for books that could cover that.
Any disagreement? Any suggestions on how to better the process this year? Just want to make sure we are using the spreadsheet efficiently and effectively!
