Steve | 615 comments I spoke too soon because now the G-M tab moved back into 1st!

message 352: by Sara (new)

Sara (phantomswife) Ah, victory is so brief sometimes. But we of the N-Z tab promise to redouble our efforts.

And Serendipity is reallllllly bringing up your tab's average with her completed challenge!

message 354: by Chinook (new)

Chinook | 639 comments I have been so slow with challenges this year. Perhaps some tab rivalry is the kick in the butt I needed!

message 355: by Steve (new)

Steve | 615 comments Out of curiosity (and spring break free time) I did an average for each tab of counts above 5 and under 40. 1st tab moves to just over 17 (currently 14.9); 2nd tab to just over 18 (currently 15.4); and 3rd tab moves down to just under 15 (currently 15.1).

message 356: by MJ (new)

MJ | 947 comments I helped with the G-M tab this weekend - I finished four or five books!

message 357: by Ann (new)

Ann S | 624 comments Just added 2 books to the A-F. Go people go

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11184 comments Mod
Yeaaaaaaa A-F tab!

We have so many people with only 1 or 2 logged on our tab. I wish we could send out a message to everyone on it to remind them to log books, but I don’t know if that’s possible/feasible/overly annoying.

message 359: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (wildhoney) | 68 comments I don't get what we are supposed to do... where is the spreadsheet we are to add books read to?

message 360: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11184 comments Mod
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

That link will take you to the master spreadsheet, but it definitely isn't a requirement! Just a fun tool to help us find books and see what others are reading.

And also a vicious competition, apparently 😂

Thanks! I just added myself :)

message 362: by Simone (new)

Simone (simonec75) | 57 comments I'll have to revise my column sometime. I'm doing 3 other challenges in addition to this and was reorganizing my books read to better fit certain prompts.

I think the only way is to try and match them up with their plan threads and leave them a comment there, which could be time consuming. One person with 1 does have a link to their plan, but the rest just have their names to go on. Because it can be edited anonymously I don't think there's a way to message the spreadsheet users as a group.

But tab A-F doesn't seem all that far behind even with those stragglers. Go us!

message 364: by Anabell (new)

Anabell | 40 comments I am A-F and haven’t updated for some weeks so this weekend I will try and remember to update so hopefully it will help with the statistics. :-)

message 365: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (wildhoney) | 68 comments I have a problem with the spreadsheet... I just added another to my list from the book I finished today but the total prompts complete isn't updating. Yesterday when I added my original completed books I typed the number in and screwed up the formula. Now I can't edit it and it's just stuck at the number 6. I'm the last one (Rachel R) on the N-Z tab... help?

message 366: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11184 comments Mod
I copied over the formula so it should now automatically update as you add books! I locked that section so no one can edit the formula :)

Thanks Emily!!

message 368: by Tracy (last edited Apr 25, 2019 03:30PM) (new)

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 2573 comments Emily I had a problem with formatting in the Indigenous prompt column. I was able to get my entry in, it was just not right somehow ( going to the bottom of the cell I think, I dont remember exactly) Not sure if anyone else is having the same issue.

What I REALLY want to know is how many people are secretly competing with the person in the row next to them again this year LOL.

message 369: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11184 comments Mod
Fixed it, I think! It looks like someone may have cut and pasted something in the cell to another cell, and it erased the formatting that was there. Just had to fix the font and alignment.

I'm next to Ann S on the spreadsheet, and she already has 37 books read... so I'm definitely not competing against her (mostly because I'd lose). I am kind of checking on the people who are reading in order and seeing how ahead of me they are (because they are mostly all ahead of me lol)

message 370: by Pam (new)

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 3839 comments Tracy- I’ve been keeping an eye on Steve’s progress since he’s 2 columns away from me and our numbers have been close! And, we are reading some of the same books but for different prompts. I don’t really feel like I’m competing with him, though, but I don’t want to slip back too far! 😂

Well I wasn't competing with those around me but now I feel like I need to step it up to catch up to both Pam and Steve! Or Sophie who is right next to me since we seem to be reading at the same pace.

message 372: by Sara (new)

Sara (phantomswife) I feel restricted because I am reading in order. lol. I cannot afford to let my competitive juices loose.

Well now is your time to catch up! I’m working on books 3 and 4 of the Song of Ice and Fire series right now. It’s amazing that I can read 200 pages in one day and still feel like I’ve made no progress!

I’m also off this week so I’m not getting my usual 2 hours of audiobook a day with my commute.

message 374: by Pam (new)

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 3839 comments Steve- That’s good to know! 😀 I read that whole A Song of Ice and Fire series in 2012 and that was all I read that year!

message 375: by Jody (new)

Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments If anyone needs to feel good about their progress, feel free to compete with me. 😂

message 376: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 563 comments Jody wrote: "If anyone needs to feel good about their progress, feel free to compete with me. 😂"

I think I'm the column to the right of you, Jody!

And I hadn't been keeping tabs on anyone else, or secretly competing, but maybe now...!

message 377: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 563 comments I've just been enjoying looking at the colour in my completed books cell getting more and more yellow, and now heading toward green!

message 378: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 2992 comments I seem to have been next to a few different people, previously I was happy to be keeping pace with them, but somehow I'm now next to Elise who is nearly done! So now I'm trying to ignore it.

I'm trying to keep in mind that I've not doubled up many books with Popsugar so I could have been nearly done too if I'd focused on ATY only.

message 379: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11184 comments Mod
Sara, I'm the same... Chrissy is two columns over from me and it looks like she's reading in order, so I may use her as motivation to keep reading.

Although, with my luck, she's probably just forgot to record books and she's actually done with 30 lolol.

message 380: by Sara (new)

Sara (phantomswife) lol. I'm having enough trouble just keeping the individual ticker from saying "you are behind". On the other hand, I just noticed there is a reject tab. I need to see if I can't plug in some reads there, which might make me feel better.

message 381: by Ann (new)

Ann S | 624 comments Oh great! I never thought to compete with the person next to me, haven't even looked. Great, something new to think about. I am just trying to read in order and stay up to date. Now Emily is in trouble. I'm after her.

message 382: by Lizzy (new)

Lizzy | 907 comments I just noticed I'm next to Jill -- who has 24 books to my 18. But, since I'm reading in order and she isn't, it doesn't look quite so bad. I must say though, that I should look more closely at her choices - I like quite a few of them, and may have to steal a few ideas for some of the prompts I haven't done yet.

message 383: by Sara (new)

Sara (phantomswife) I agree, Lizzy...the spreadsheet is a treasure trove of reading ideas.

message 384: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sezziy) | 614 comments I'm next to Shelley and we're both neck and neck at the moment. *Tries to read quicker*

I'm rooting for you! If it helps you feel any better, I peeked at your stats and saw that you've read more total pages than I have so far this year.

Laura | 3780 comments Mod
I suspect that trying to compete would make me shut down and not be able to read. Like in high school when I felt obligated to read course books.

But it’s also possible that I’m rationalizing since I’m about 20 books behind the people on either side of me 😂

message 387: by Sara (new)

Sara (phantomswife) lol. Maybe I am feeling less pressed because the women on either side of me have read 8 and 4.

message 388: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 2573 comments Wow I opened Pandoras box with this discussion LOL. I'm between Steve and Pam, so no catching up for me....

message 389: by Marina (new)

Marina | 1312 comments Jody wrote: "If anyone needs to feel good about their progress, feel free to compete with me. 😂"

Ha ha, or me 🤣 I'm not getting anywhere and I've just started reading A Game of Thrones again so it'll be a while till my next update!

message 390: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 1137 comments I am going in order, and all caught up with my entries, Emily! Still a week behind, and I’m also falling behind in my other challenges, but I am enjoying almost everything I’ve read so it’s all good.

message 391: by Sara (new)

Sara (phantomswife) Love that, Chrissy, much more important to enjoy your reading than to check off tons of books. Hard not to fall behind sometimes.

message 392: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11184 comments Mod
It's all about enjoying the books! I'm on a mission to catch up, but I plan on fully enjoying my books in the process. It helps that this one is my only challenge, so I can read side reads if I'm not in the mood for whatever I have planned next.

message 393: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1143 comments I was behind on posting for the A-F tab. Back from a trip and added 5 books! I'm juggling 4 challenges but ATY remains my top priority.. while trying not to fall too far behind on other challenges.

message 394: by Simone (new)

Simone (simonec75) | 57 comments The spreadsheet is not working for me today. Is it a problem on my end or is this Google? When I try a different browser, I see the first tab, but the other ones are blank. In Chrome, the spreadsheet won't open at all.

Laura | 3780 comments Mod
The spreadsheet is working fine for me (Google Chrome)

message 396: by Simone (new)

Simone (simonec75) | 57 comments I'm not sure what happened, but it's working now.

message 397: by Pam (new)

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 3839 comments Someone (maybe Helene or Emily) added Delirium to my Reject challenge.

Ok it is ALMOST time to start working on the 2020 list and I am PUMPED. So excited, in fact, that I've updated our spreadsheet to prepare for the list-making festivities.

Last year, I had a tab that tracked voting (top prompts, bottom prompts, close calls and polarizing). I also had a Plans tab and a Recs tab, plus a Rejects tab for those of us interested in doing a Rejects challenge.

I'm thinking of leaving off the Recs tab this year... I feel like there were only a handful of people who used it, and the plans tab had plenty of suggestions for books that could cover that.

Any disagreement? Any suggestions on how to better the process this year? Just want to make sure we are using the spreadsheet efficiently and effectively!
