YAY! I'm glad everyone is enjoying it! :)

Just gotta point out that, on average, we are at 12/52 books read and 24% done with the challenge! Not too shabby! 💁🏻♀️
One thing we could add to the spreadsheet that I played with: a conditional format color scale with the percents in the 3rd column (which shows the % who have completed the task). It colors it from red at 0% to yellow at 50% to green at 100%. This would show us which tasks many people have completed and which few have in a visual manner. If anyone wants to see what it looks like, you can click in File... Version History ... See version history... Then click on the one I named "Color scale sample."If we like that addition, I can keep it on there (I took it off for now so it's not "live" since I don't want to overstep a boundary!); I thought it'd be cool to be able to see that on the spreadsheet.
EDIT: I'm realizing now that just looking at it on the version history would only show it in greyscale. If you want to actually see if it full color, you'd have to "restore this version." I'll post a screenshot when I get home tonight so people can see it more easily.

I actually tried to do something similar, but I couldn't get the formulas right for it! Thank you for doing that... I'll restore it to that version!

Anna wrote: "The colorscale looks fun! Can we have it for the individual person's % too? Row 57. Please?"It's definitely possible to do if people want that implemented. I wasn't too sure about putting that in.

Yes please! (Although the red will kill me a bit haha!)

Yes, that was my concern, Emily! The group percentages is more communal ("look at what we're all achieving!")... The personal percentages might have more direct impact on our psyches! :)
That looks cool! The red doesn't have to kill anyone, or psyche us out (can one say that?) Emily, Steve, because we're at the beginning of the challenge!
The colour coding is great! Erin, you're such a machine! hahaI'm orange too! I've been reading too many side-reads ;)
Okay...I just filled in but I didn't get a color, just a percentage at the bottom. Did I do something wrong. Thanks for doing this. It is so much fun to look at.

We just have to copy the formulas over to your box to show the colors! You didn't do anything wrong.

Thanks be to ye spreadsheet gods! I would hate to lump myself in with avid spreadsheeters and, sigh, mess up the whole thing. Oh how I love your spreadsheet!
I have been in a reading slump for several months and wasn't sure if I was going to really participate in the challenge this year. I seem to be coming out of the slump and getting caught up on my reading so I am finally looking around at what is happening in the discussions. I am so glad I found this thread, I love a spreadsheet so find this this to be a lot of fun! Thank you Emily for creating it!

If you click on the little chain link on the top toolbar on the right, you can input a link and text to go with that link. I hope that made sense?

I love that our overall averages have gone up since the Read-A-Thon started! Keep up the good work, guys!
Thank you for creating this! I LOVE a good spreadsheet! (No joke - it's my nickname at work...) Adding my details soon!
I see that "a book that intimidates or scares you" is back in last place. Glad I got that one out of the way! I like the spreadsheet - great idea! It's interesting and convenient to see, in one place, what others have read.

I'm enjoying seeing what people are reading for some prompts, and seeing what categories people are assigning what books too. Plus, I get super excited every time I see our averages go up!

I just found this, and added my books to it. I really appreciated the color coding! I love seeing which prompts are filling in "early" so to speak and which ones people are leaving off until later. Plus it's just fun to watch us collectively check off a prompt.
We now have 70 people on the spreadsheet, and, on average, we are caught up perfectly to this week of the challenge (Week 20, and on average, people have completed 20 books). How cool!
I'm a bit behind since I've been prioritizing Popsugar (trying to knock out two challenges this year!) but I added my books to the spreadsheet. Fun times! I love seeing what other people are reading, but I find the individual plan threads taxing to look through, so this is a great resource.
So, because I can't help myself, and the 2019 list planning is my favorite thing ever, I started a 2019 Plans tab on the spreadsheet. There's not much we can plan yet (since GR choice hasn't been announced yet.. since it's only June...), but I figured those of you who want to get a head start can.
I'll be adding the prompts as they get chosen, and will rearrange the lines once we get the final order. I usually plan 5-6 books per prompt, so I'm not sure if I'll make separate lists for each or if I'll just put multiple books in one box... probably the latter so that it doesn't clog up the spreadsheet with a bunch of people having multiple columns.
Anyway, I just wanted to let y'all know that that is up and you can begin adding and planning (if you choose!)

Hey Steve, can you look at the conditional formatting on the 2019 Plans tab? I can't figure out why 20% is showing as green.
Emily wrote: "Hey Steve, can you look at the conditional formatting on the 2019 Plans tab? I can't figure out why 20% is showing as green."Got it. A couple of things were off: since the 20% was the highest number on that sheet, it thought of it as the maximum and therefore worthy of the 100% green. I hadn't defined the upper bound apparently. It was only making it yellow at 50%.
It also wasn't looking at things correctly because of the percentages. So I converted the bounds to be based on numbers 0, 0.5, and 1.0 since the Google sheet seems to be converting the percentages to numbers (i.e. 87% =0.87, 32% = 0.32). We should be good now!

Just added my books. Hooray for things to procrastinate with...! Although I see I'm a little below the average number of prompts completed, so I could procrastinate with a bit more reading!

Emily, I finished this years list and I'm going thru a second time. Can I start a second column for time 2? Or will that throw everything off?
Jill wrote: "Thank you for adding the 2019 tab! I love having a place to start planning for next year!"Hmm.. I love the spreadsheet (for 2018), but I can't imagine thinking about what I plan to read six months or more from now. Clearly I am not a planner. If there were enough hours in the day, I would read the 500 plus books on my TBR list NOW... and find new books to read in 2019. But decide to put off reading A Spool of Blue Thread (which I loved) until next year, not happening.

I have SO MANY BOOKS on my plan for this year, that all of the new books I've been finding are being funneled to my 2019 list. And half of the books on my 2018 list aren't being read this year because I've found new, shiny books. My planning list is more of a "suggestion" list... something to occupy my time at the moment haha.

I do the same thing, Emily. I spend a lot of time planning, then only read about half the books I had planned because I find new books. The planning is a hobby, I tell myself.
Yes - I feel the same. The planning is its own reward, really, because I geek out about finding options even if I don’t end up reading them. I found anywhere from 2-10 books per prompt and still often read different things, but it’s helpful to me to have some ideas because then I can put on library holds if I need to.
