This is a reading challenge for all of you who like series (and most do, because we always want more of our favourite characters!)

Purpose: to finish those series we've started, and recommend them to other like-minded readers.
What to do: Make a sign up post below, listing each series (series title) and number of books in it, that you want to complete in 2018. Also note how far into the series you are when you sign up.
For example, I've read the first of a Percy Jackson and a Magnus Chase, and I might add the Magnus Chase series, which currently numbers 3. I will definitely add the Shadows From the Past series by Wendy Leighton-Porter, and I'm on number 6 of possibly 9.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO ADD MORE THAN ONE SERIES.

The aim, though, is to finish all those you do add!

For more ideas, take a look at this challenge on the blogosphere - if you have non-MG series you want to finish you could add those there. http://celebrityreaders.com/2018-fini...

UPDATING: update your series progress with a link to your Goodreads review, and/or a comment of your own.

Good luck!

For the GMGR Series Challenge, I'm signing up to finish two MG series this year:

The Shadow of Atlantis (Shadows from the Past, #1) by Wendy Leighton-Porter Shadows from the Past by Wendy Leighton-Porter
I've read as afar as number 6 The Shadow of Camelot of 9 in the series so far. [finished nine of nine now]

I'm dithering over whether to add...
A Wrinkle in Time (Time Quintet, #1) by Madeleine L'Engle Wrinkle in Time Quintet by L'Engle, Madeleine I've read 1 of the 5 to date.

Looking down the rest of my list - I've got a lot of first books of MG series listed, but my main aim will be to finish (or at least catch up with) one of more than six crime/historical/thriller/fantasy series I've been reading for years!

Jennifer (JenIsNotaBookSnob) (jenisnotabooksnob) | 5 comments Hmm..

I can't remember why I quit reading after book 2 in the Percy Jackson series.
I think I will go ahead and finish that series, so, 3 more books starting with
The Titan's Curse (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #3) by Rick Riordan

Otherwise I don't think I have any other middle grade fiction series as I usually read standalone books. (well, unless a book I read that was a standalone is now a series.. lol Guess I should check)

I think I'll take on The Shadows of the Past (Wendy Leighton-Porter. I've only read the first one, and have something like #4 on my Nook, but not the ones in between!
The Shadow of Atlantis (Shadows from the Past, #1) by Wendy Leighton-Porter

I'll also catch up with Ben Zackheim and the Shirley Link books. I've read the first 3 of I think 5.
Shirley Link & The Safe Case (Shirley Link, #1) by Ben Zackheim

message 6: by Emily (last edited Feb 11, 2018 08:54AM) (new)

Emily | 13 comments I'm going to start with All the Wrong Questions by Lemony Snicket. I've read the first three:
Who Could That Be at This Hour? (All the Wrong Questions, #1) by Lemony Snicket Shouldn't You Be in School? (All the Wrong Questions, #3) by Lemony Snicket When Did You See Her Last? (All the Wrong Questions, #2) by Lemony Snicket

And then I'll tackle the Secret series by Pseudonymous Bosch. I've read the first two:
The Name of This Book Is Secret (Secret, #1) by Pseudonymous Bosch If You're Reading This, It's Too Late (Secret, #2) by Pseudonymous Bosch

Both series have a tongue-in-cheek noir vibe that makes them pretty fun to read. The Lemony Snicket series is a bit more sophisticated, which means I may have to reread so I remember all the clues and details from the first three books before I finish it up!

Thought of another! I read the first two books in the Swindle series by Gordon Korman to help me finish my 2017 A-Z challenge, and I enjoyed them immensely! They were not anything like what I was expecting, in a good way! It looks like there are eight in the series, so that should keep me busy! Here's what I've read so far:
Swindle (Swindle, #1) by Gordon Korman Zoobreak (Swindle, #2) by Gordon Korman Framed (Swindle, #3) by Gordon Korman

message 7: by M.J. (new)

M.J. (mjswitzer) | 47 comments Great idea! I'm going to start with just one series -- the Mo & Dale Mysteries by Sheila Turnage. I've read the first two of four:

Three Times Lucky (Mo & Dale Mysteries, #1) by Sheila Turnage The Ghosts of Tupelo Landing (Mo & Dale Mysteries, #2) by Sheila Turnage

Carmel | 72 comments I love the sounds of this Challenge. I often only read one of a series so I get a taste and am able to recommend to students who may be interested. I only read additional titles if I especially like #1 - like the rest of you, I would guess. The first 3 series I will add to my list for 2018, there have only been 2 titles published so far:

Track series by Jason Reynolds. I read Ghost (Track, #1) by Jason Reynolds
in one sitting and would have already read #2 Patina (Track, #2) by Jason Reynolds if there wasn't a few of my students waiting for it!

The Secrets we Keep by Nova Weetman.
Again, I read #1 in a single sitting - touched my heart in a big way!
The Secrets We Keep (The Secrets We Keep #1) by Nova Weetman
I look forward to #2 The Secrets We Share (The Secrets We Keep, #2) by Nova Weetman

A Stella Montgomery Intrigue
Withering-By-Sea (A Stella Montgomery Intrigue, #1) by Judith Rossell #1 had such a feisty heroine.
So far only Wormwood Mire (A Stella Montgomery Intrigue, #2) by Judith Rossell has been published.

just finished #2 Wormwood Mire (A Stella Montgomery Intrigue, #2) by Judith Rossell **** #3 not due out till 2019 - the final part of the trilogy.

Seeds of America: I have read Chains (Seeds of America, #1) by Laurie Halse Anderson
and will read Forge (Seeds of America, #2) by Laurie Halse Anderson
and Ashes (Seeds of America, #3) by Laurie Halse Anderson

#2 Forge in Seeds of America completed. Only #3 Ashes to complete this great Historical thriller trilogy.

I've read #1 Into the Wild Into the Wild (Warriors, #1) by Erin Hunter I will read at least #2 and #3 of Warriors series by Erin Hunter
Fire and Ice (Warriors, #2) by Erin Hunter Forest of Secrets (Warriors, #3) by Erin Hunter
Just finished Fire and Ice - my first completed in the series challenge! **** I found it really engaging and loved the way themes around friendship, trust, loyalty and being different were dealt with.

Yeah, I read some that I wasn't that big on just so I'd know what the boys were reading (I drew the line when they were in HS and reading Game of Thrones :) ).

Percy Jackson and the Olympians
I've wanted to finish this series forever. I read the first one when it came out and haven't read any of the others.

message 22: by Terra (new)

Terra Bee (terrabee) | 6 comments Since I started reading Percy Jackson and the Olympians with my older daughter, I suppose I'll continue the series. We're almost through book 1 now.

And, I'm reading Franny K. Stein to my other daughter. I'm not sure these qualify as middle grade, but since they are chapter books and the main character is in third grade, I'm going to say they fit. Feel free to let me know if I'm wrong.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1-3) by Rick Riordan Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Franny K. Stein's Crate of Danger (Franny K. Stein, Mad Scientist, #1-4) by Jim Benton Franny K. Stein's Crate of Danger
There are 8 in this series. We have already read the first four.

message 23: by Louie (last edited Mar 15, 2018 11:41PM) (new)

Louie There are a lot of series that I want to finish this year, but these are the ones that I REALLY want to finish.
The Willow Falls Series by Wendy Mass. I have only gotten to read 11 Birthdays (Willow Falls, #1) by Wendy Mass .
The Emily Windsnap Series by Liz Kessler. I read the first one a few years ago and haven't gotten a chance to read the other ones yet.
Hotel For Dogs Series by Lois Duncan. I remember loving the first two books when I was a young kid and being disappointed that my local library didn't have the last one! I can't wait to re-read them and also get to finally finish out one of my childhood series.

I've now finished the first series on my list, the Shadows from the Past series by Wendy Leighton-Porter

The Shadow of the Norman Arrow (Shadows from the Past, #7) by Wendy Leighton-Porter The Shadow of the Two Princes (Shadows from the Past, #8) by Wendy Leighton-Porter The Shadow of the Tudor Rose (Shadows from the Past, #9) by Wendy Leighton-Porter

I wholeheartedly recommend these to anyone who enjoys history, or anyone who wants to introduce their kids to some key historical moments. The story features modern-day twins, their friend, and a cat called Max. The twins parents have disappeared presumed lost in a flying accident, but the twins discover they have been trapped in a time machine because they forgot to take the key with them. So the kids set out to find them....

The first in the series is The Shadow of Atlantis

You are doing much better than I am! I've read one book from the Shirley Link series, and that's it! I'd better get cracking. I even have #2 from the Shadows of the Past on my ereader. Just need to read it. Right now I'm trying to get through some of the actual paper books I have, though.

Georgie | 39 comments I started the A Series of Unfortunate Events series by Lemony Snicket back in September, and I'm hoping to read all 13 books in the series by the end of this year. I'm up to 8, which I just finished today. So far I've read:
The Bad Beginning (A Series of Unfortunate Events, #1) by Lemony Snicket The Reptile Room (A Series of Unfortunate Events, #2) by Lemony Snicket The Wide Window (A Series of Unfortunate Events, #3) by Lemony Snicket The Miserable Mill (A Series of Unfortunate Events, #4) by Lemony Snicket The Austere Academy (A Series of Unfortunate Events, #5) by Lemony Snicket The Ersatz Elevator (A Series of Unfortunate Events, #6) by Lemony Snicket The Vile Village (A Series of Unfortunate Events, #7) by Lemony Snicket The Hostile Hospital (A Series of Unfortunate Events, #8) by Lemony Snicket

Book 9 is on its way for me at the library, and I've requested Book 10 as well (on audio. We're supposed to have 3 copies of the book in stock but three are missing and one is way overdue!)

Update 17/11/18: I've just finished Book 9: The Carnivorous Carnival (A Series of Unfortunate Events, #9) by Lemony Snicket
