Ben's storytelling adventures started as a Production Assistant on the set of the film, A River Runs Throught It. After forgetting to bring the crew's walkie talkies, losing Robert Redford's jacket and asking Brad Pitt if he was related to Paul Newman (in front of Paul Newman) he decided that film production didn't "speak" to him. Since no one else on the set would speak to him either he knew he needed to find work that required minimal human contact.

Writing. That did the trick.

His three series, Shirley Link, The Camelot Kids and Relics appeal to young and old alike. Emily Neuburger of Parents.com says, "[Shirley Link] is

I cry.

Okay, I suppose the primary way I deal with it is to accept it. Let it be. See if it "means" anything outside of some random value judgment of my talent or my ambition. Because that's where I can get lost in a downward spiral. "Not writing" begins to mean "Can't write" and it's tough to pull yourself out of that mess.

I don't think writer's block is a negative force in the creative process unless it goes on too long and becomes chronic. The act of being blocked has protected me from bad ideas and horrible choices in my creative life. It's also allowed me to spend more time on things that needed my care and attention.

I also tap my memory to recall how things usually shake out after a writer's block subsides. In my experience, when I emerge from the block I'll write like a machine. That's something to look forward to in the darkest days.(less)

Ben I'm delighted to announce that The Camelot Kids is set for release on Amazon in August, 2014! The art team that's helping to make it happen includes Nathan Fox of Wired, Rolling Stone, Marvel, DC, GQ and oh the hell with it...He's done work for every major pub out there!

Nathan will be doing art direction for the ebooks AND the softcover! He'll ALSO be illustrating the covers!

Be still my heart.

Joining him is Ian Greenlee, who's the definition of an up 'n comer. This kid can draw like NO ONE I've ever seen. His style is perfect for The Camelot Kids.

So come check out the news and get some peeks at the artwork. I'll throw some excerpts out there as well. Soon!

Thanks all

Ben

Ben I just posted my latest story to Wattpad. Titled 'The Last Boy', it's a fantasy adventure with intrigue and lots of tongue in cheek. Please head over and give it a read. if you like it, please vote and share. Thanks!

http://www.wattpad.com/story/15257834...

Here's a brief description:

Jack may be the last human, but he's got a job to do. A wealthy orc family has hired him to run a mysterious package to a nearby goblin town. It should be a routine job, but powerful forces work against him.

With a tag-along orc named Sir William and an elf named Amelia, the three teens need to battle gangster gnomes, butler giants, rabid centaurs and nasty gargoyles to finish the job.

If they get out in one piece, Amelia promises to show Jack something that will answer his question...

"Am I the last boy?"

Ben I'm getting ready for the launch of two new Shirley Link books this Friday!

One book is an adventure, titled Shirley Link & The Black Cat. Can Shirley save an innocent teen from going to jail? Even if she saves him from the police, can she save him from himself?

Want more Shirley? Check out the riddle book with Shirley Link-approved brain teasers. The activity book includes 100 original riddles designed to stump the whole family.

The title? Shirley Link & The 100 Riddles!

Here's a taste:

“I’m not just a girl

I can be a boy bug too

But my name makes it hard

To prove it to you”

And one more:

“I eat, breathe and speak

Say my name out loud

With what you seek”

Just ask if you can't figure them out ;-)
