YAY!!!! Oh oh! If you have your list typed, wanna put it in here? I am so curious to see what books you choose!

message 4: by Little Bee (new)

Little Bee (littlebeesreads) | 199 comments I have it at home, I am happy to do it later...I can kind of keep myself a running tally on here. My goal this year is to actually complete a book list I start

The Dust Bunny Reader (thedustbunnyreader) | 1086 comments Mod
That is a great goal! I always get ambitious and hope to finish fifty thousand challenges. XD It never happens!

message 6: by Little Bee (new)

Little Bee (littlebeesreads) | 199 comments I will make a list...TBR that I want to get through (I do a Mount TBR challenge and every book has to be in my possession prior to the new year)...I did a retelling challenge the last two years, but this year I will not meet it because I didn't get my reviews in on time...or didn't do a review for it. And, I alter my lists as I go. Soooo my Popsugar list is set in stone

message 7: by Little Bee (new)

Little Bee (littlebeesreads) | 199 comments One year I did a challenge where I read a book that started with a letter in the Alphabet...so ABC all the way to Z...that was hard. I managed to get it though

The Dust Bunny Reader (thedustbunnyreader) | 1086 comments Mod
Those challenges sound awesome. Do you come up with these challenges on your own? They are great ideas!

message 9: by Little Bee (new)

Little Bee (littlebeesreads) | 199 comments Nope lol...someone runs the first two. The ABC challenge I did in a penpal reading group

message 10: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Norris Oh yay! Thanks for adding this Sam. I was planning on doing it anyway! I seriously need to get my crap together for next year so I’m prepared for January. There are so many challenges and readathons I want to do.

@Allie YAY! Glad to see you participating in this one! :) Your question makes sense! No -- you can get double the points if the POPSUGAR book applies to another Individual Challenge book, the BOTM, AOTM or the Classic, but no extra points for the Random Books.

message 20: by Allison (new)

Allison Ok good lol.

So you only get points for random books when they are completely random - meaning, they don’t fit into any of our challenges or group reads?

Little Bee (littlebeesreads) | 199 comments Yesterday I finished :

14. A book by an author of a different ethnicity than you

Warcross by Marie Lu

I am a big fan of Lu's. I loved the Legend Trilogy. I started the Young Elites series a while ago, just need to finish it. Warcross kept reminding me of Ready Player One, but it is totally different. The main similarity is that Warcross is virtual reality. I totally called who the bad guy was. Totally. It was still good though. Lu can really keep you intrigued in her stories. I suggest it. Now I have to wait for book 2...this one kinda ended with a doozy that is making it difficult.

Little Bee (littlebeesreads) | 199 comments I loved the audio for Ready Player One. My hubby and i listened together. It’s narrated by Wil Wheaton. And anytime he talks I think about Sheldon cooper. Lmao. But no. It’s good and i would recommend it.

Elizabeth Norris I had to look up who Will Wheaton is. At first I thought he was the guy who played Sheldon and I couldn’t picture him narrating a book haha.

Allison I had to look him up too. And then when I saw his picture, I was like yes! Him!

Little Bee (littlebeesreads) | 199 comments Lol! He’s such a good narrator (wil Wheaton). I’d listen to Jim Parsons too if he started narrating lol

Gabby | 38 comments Love Marie Lu's Legend series! I've been meaning to read more of her books. Young Elites has been on my TBR for a while.

I saw the movie trailer for Ready Player One last week, and that reeeeeally made me want to read the book! It looks exciting!

Little Bee (littlebeesreads) | 199 comments I finished Heist Society. I will attach the book to this when i can get to the internet :)

Heist Society was okay. I listened to the book. The narrator was good. I would listen to more of her books. The story kind of left me needing more though. There were a lot of holes in the story and i felt it could have been filled in. I thought the ending was forced and could have been better. There was not a lot of character development. I didn’t feel like i could root for any one character and ended up wishing the book would just end.

This story satisfies the story about a heist.

Little Bee (littlebeesreads) | 199 comments Gabby— Young Elites is good! I need to finish the series. Marie Lu is a great author.

I can’t wait to see the movie for Ready Player One. The book was really good!

I get so bummed when books leave more questions than answered, and plot holes...don't get me started on plot holes. LOL! I am glad you were able to push through that book, even though that was not the greatest.

Little Bee (littlebeesreads) | 199 comments I am now starting Golden Son and The Hate U Give

Little Bee (littlebeesreads) | 199 comments I sure will! I am going to listen to it. I listened to a sample and it was pretty good. So we shall see. I keep hearing really good things about this book.

Kyler (idkyler17) | 21 comments I think I'll definitely do this
It should be cool!
Plus, a lot of the books I plan on reading this year already fit into the challenge.

Yes, me too! I just started reading Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption: A Story from Different Seasons. I have seen the movie a year or so ago and I have never seen a film that looks so much like the book!

Little Bee (littlebeesreads) | 199 comments I finished All Lined Up (Rusk University, #1) by Cora Carmack by Cora Carmack

This is the first book by Carmack that I have read. She is very similar to one of my favorite NA Romance Authors Jay Crownover which makes sense because these two authors are BFF's.

All Lined Up is about a college freshman named Dallas. She is the daughter of a football coach who was offered a job to coach at the same college. There is a lot of brokenness between them because Dallas' mom left when she was really little. She always felt that she played second fiddle to football.

At a party she drops in on (literally) Carson, a walkon for the football team. It starts out rough because the chemistry is on fire from the first moment, but when she finds out he is on the football team she pulls away. He does n't stop trying and then they become friends, which leads to them dating.

There are a lot of dramatic problems going on, which makes sense. I don't want to give it all away because it makes up a good chunk of the story. Normally I would not be a fan of female characters like Dallas, but I know where she is coming from and could actually relate to her in many ways. Not on the parental aspect, but how she pulls away and closes in because of how hurt she has been throughout her life.

The chemistry between her and Carson is electric. You can feel it through the book. I like when you can actually feel the sizzle as a reader. I feel the book was too short and I needed more. It was the easiest 300 page read. i started it really late last night and got over 60 pages in. Due to my first visit at work canceling, I literally just finished it LOL.

I would recommend this book. I look forward to reading the other books in the series and I am glad I have the second one! I got both books signed by Carmack in 2015 when I went to a book convention in Dallas. I will probably give her other books a read as well :)

This book satisfies number 19 on the popsugar challenge. Many scenes are in the locker room of the sports annex and there are several scenes at football games. And Carson is a QB waiting to take the main QB spot should the time arises, which it did.

Anne Vivliohomme (annevivliohomme) I finished The Shawshank Redemption a couple of days before but I have been so busy with reading other books that barely had time to update Goodreads...

I am very satisfied with this book. It is shorter than the books I usually read, but that did not make the story a lot less detailed.

I did expect more character development on Red's side, but what you get in the movie is similar to what you get in the book. There have been a couple of scenes added to the movie, but I don't think that they caused the story to stray off the path of the book. The scenes that were added to the movie seemed slightly cliche to me, so that makes the book better.

Furhermore, I really like the writing style of Stephen King. It is easy without being childish and simple without skimming over morals.

The book itself made me feel happy, but not that much that I squealed or hugged the book (which I have done several times, occasionally receiving weird looks).

I do recommend it, but I wouldn't call it a must-read-right-now. I think the story itself is one you have to hear/read/see sometime, but it did not make me rush to my friends to push the book in their face and yell: Read this precious baby now!!!!!

Evianrei I just finished Prince Caspian for the prompt '33. A childhood classic you've never read'. A lot of family members on both my husband's side of the family, and my own, say they read Prince Caspian when they were young, and my husband said it was read to him as a child. I must have missed out or something, but now I have read it!

Here is my review on the book! My Review
