It's an extra day off work for me, hoping for a sunny day and a walk with a cup of coffee at the end.

I have whole of next week off actually.By the by, does anyone else read the name of this thread, Chit Chat, as Shit Shat...?
Er, no!? I have two weeks off for whit, we only get one at Easter. I'm going away for one and having work done the second.

I know it from a patient I had there once its about 10 miles from me. You must try and get to Sherborne which is about 5 miles from Charlton. Lovely town and minster and the castle too. Enjoy your cream tea!
Helen wrote: "Er, no!? I have two weeks off for whit, we only get one at Easter. I'm going away for one and having work done the second."ha, I thought exactly what Dave did, in regards to having work done.
Its not that I dislike the jubilee or olympics, just the thought of all those people making London so hard to navigate, and messing up the transport system....
if only they would host it elsewhere.
:)
Despite my lack of interest, there is a tug within me to look out my window this afternoon when that flame goes past........y'know - Once in a Lifetime - as the Talking Heads sang. Wonder if Joey Barton will be holding it....he's famous and from around this neck of the woods.
Cheers Dave/Louise! Garden work. Horrible slabs going and being replaced, still waiting the plan though and they are supposed to start tomorrow!
Weenie wrote: "Gawd save the Queen for giving us an extra day's holiday, is all I say! :-)"Not so good for me as I have to work on Monday and Tuesday nightshifts!
3 hours on a coach to Sommerset. Played a 2 hour concert then back not eh coach for another 3 hours. A very long day yesterday :( but the sun shined and there were many cream scones digested so I can't complain to much :)
I'd planned a BBQ for today, but then, a few days ago, the weather forecast said that Tuesday would be better, so changed it. Now it seems today would've been better! Sod's law:( Oh well, it'll just have to be an indoor one!
It's rained non stop all day, I'm cold too. I've got as many layers on as I did in January, although I haven't got the heating on. JUNE??!!
Helen wrote: "It's rained non stop all day, I'm cold too. I've got as many layers on as I did in January, although I haven't got the heating on. JUNE??!!"Turned the heating on this evening - so bloomin' cold:(
Put mine on today as I was so cold coming in from shopping in the rain. Noticed it was 16 degrees indoors. Rubbish!
I have spent my free time going round open studios as part of Dorset Art Weeks. Have now been inspired to get back to my needlework and I am teaching myself to draw and use coloured pencils as part of my stitch projects. It's harder than you can imagine!
Lynne - The Book Squirrel wrote: "I have spent my free time going round open studios as part of Dorset Art Weeks. I'm pretty rubbish with a needle, but am full of admiration for those who can create designs and fulfil them. I can knit and need to get back to it as have several things on the go.
I used to cross stitch all of the time til I began teaching. I did some designs which was fun too. We did have a club and there I tried lace tatting (?), and smocking with embroidery.
Helen wrote: "I used to cross stitch all of the time til I began teaching. I did some designs which was fun too. No excuse now that I've retired! Will have to try audio books, then I might get some pieces finished and also get on with the knitting. Smocking with embroidery sounds lovely:)
I've finished exams and can read without guilt again. Does anyone know any good second-hand bookshops in York? Just doing some research for my holiday. It sounds strange, but I'm lookig forward to free plastic bags. (I live in Wales)
I did lot of cross stitch and still run Loose Threads group here at my home. I do freestyle embroidery, beading and knit too. I used to work at a needlecraft centre in Longleat till it closed and used to teach too.I now experiment with painting canvases and adding stitches as texture and interest.
I have lots of cross stitch UFO's too Angela!

I will have to take photos of them and add them to my profile. I lost my photos when my last laptop crashed. I will finish the one I painted yesterday and photograph it.

Which brings us back to saving photos. There are various 'cloud' storage but I haven't decided on one. I was told Dropbox was good but haven't tried it, has anyone else?
I use dropbox for transferring my books to Acclaimed Books for publishing on Amazon and Kindle. Great for handling large files.
Grrrr! Decided to see how easy it was to change my profile pic, changed it. Then decided to put pic of me back on only it's gone. Apparantly, as GR imported it from FB when they were connected years ago it was never 'saved'.
Dropbox is pretty good from what I hear. If you have a Gmail account, then you will automatically have access to Google Docs/Google Drive, which is essentially the same thing.Interesting(ish) thing happened to me today. I uploaded all my books to some torrent sites, and discovered that someone else had already uploaded one of them in a collection of some kind!
I was quite chuffed, and sent them a message pointing out my own torrent.

Think penguins were on my mind as I am at the zoo today with reception and nursery. Their teacher is just too pregnant. Bringing my class in a few weeks.
Have the week off and am planing on doing some book buying.usually I head down to Hay on Wye - but wondered if anyone had been to the Book Barn Bristol way and whether it was worth a visit?

It isn't bad books are all £1 hardback and paperback. Not been for awhile but have always found something on my visits. They have books in their warehouse you can access by pc which are more expensive obviously and they have a cafe sitting area and just down the road from them is a lovely pub called the Railway.
When do you plan to go?
Sorry Lynne - thought I'd replied to this but something must have gone wrong with GR .Went to the Book Barn today and came back with far to many books, including a couple of Stephen Kings (the Cell and The Eyes of the Dragon)
Had a lovely meal in the Railway and then on to Cribs Causeway.
Sadly the best bit of this for me was all the free plastic bags :)
Angela wrote: "Sounds as if you had a good trip, Dave!"Yes thanks Angela - although my credit card might not agree
@Dave, so glad you had a good time! Good SK books by the way! I will have to go and have another look round again soon. Actually free this weekend so may go and have a day out!
Had a bit of good news today: Harlequin, who are publishing my latest novel, THE BOY FROM BERLIN in paperback, have just agreed to publish another of my titles; THE EAGLE'S COVENANT. Exciting times!
@Dave, went to the Book Barn today and had a nose round. Broke my promise to myself not to buy any books but ended up with 9! 4 by Andrew Harman and 5 by Robert Asprin. All whacky fantasy.
