So how did your possible plans for North Wales turn into Devon Lynne? I shall miss you living in the other Gillingham lol.
@Ian, Well I just found the right house in Brixham with everything I needed, and as I don't live that far it was easier to look around at the houses in a day. I just fell in love with it in the picture on the internet and then fell in love on seeing it for real. Even have a larger room for my library too! The ground floor was also used as a B&B too which I may consider doing too.

@Louise, I wouldn't have my 'keepers' in there if I did do B&B but I would have a bookcase for borrowing or swapping - I am all for sharing my love of reading!

Holidayed in Torquay several times as a kid.....Brixham was always a visit we did every time and I loved it......the harbour with its fish smells and especially the sea shell shops....great way to waste my holiday money other than in penny arcades.
Helen wrote: "Longleat, that you'd sit listening to whilst reading."Sadly not, but will be watching for seals in the harbour, they often swim in and have a look at the crowds!

Watch out for the dive bombing seagulls.

Nick wrote: "We are heading to Brixham for our summer hols this July never been before so looking forward to it."You will have to let me know when you are there - would love to meet up for a book chat and coffee and you would be more than welcome to come and visit my library!
I've got a windy chimney! Never lived in a house with a chimney and the wind is blowing down it. It's a gas fire, imitation coal type, shouldn't it be blocked at the top? Would it still now? Lynne, seals could be good.

If we get the chance that would be great, but I must warn you that we would have our 16 month old twins with us, they love books already, but have a tendancy to tear colourful covers off of them :(

HelenI have an open fireplace, very windy, hope to get a log burner to put in it, but I've got a chimney pillow to stop the gale. Discovered the chain that the cooking pot would have hung from when putting it in.
That sounds charming Deanne. Isn't it weird that usual noises sounds so different in a new house. I shall look for a pillow. And perhaps an atlas as I've no idea where Brixham is!

Near Torquay - Agatha Christie country.
Not just yet but aiming for the end of May. I wouldn't mind the lack of TV channels - don't really watch a lot of tv really.
Helen wrote: "Just annoying to not have option."Yes I bet it is! I will have to wait and see what TV reception I have as there is no ariel and I think they had sky. I refuse to pay for sky!

I shall beat you then Lynne - I'm hope to be moving middle of May - no chimneys or libraries to worry about for me just a nice apartment with a sunny balcony and crucially lifts as my legs are now too often refusing to climb the 2 flights of stairs to my current gaff....hoping mister Sky moves smoothly with me as there's a Test match starting that week.

@Ian - Very nice, looked at apartments too in Teignmouth but really in dreadful places. I have two flights of stairs in the new house as it's on three floors going downwards not up! Will be fit as a butcher's dog by the end of the unpacking!!Good luck in your new home!
Ian I hope your move goes well, sorry to hear your legs are giving you jip but hopefully they won't stop you celebrating when Cook score a winning century to retain the ashes. Couldn't you get a flat with a balcony overlooking old Trafford then you could watch the cricket and fergies nose would give a warming glow in dark winter evenings! Best wishes for the move!
Ta Lynne and Andrew......quite happy to celebrate Ashes success(we hope, but beware the underdog Aussie) sitting down but I'll pass I think on proximity to Fergie's nose.
We're all moving! Good luck with your moves. I have a double glazer coming next week. Virgin due again tomorrow.
No moving for me in the near future at least - love my little house by the sea.Although a holiday in Brixham is enticing!!

I really want to read this one, Lynne....what did you think of it?
@Susan - I love it. I am still reading it actually as I was distracted by my move to sunny Brixham. I am in my new house but no internet till tomorrow and I still have stuff to unpack.
Susan wrote: "It's great to hear that you've moved in Lynne....I hope you'll be very happy in your new home."Thanks Susan, it's very different with the 3 floors. I have definitely lost some weight this week lugging boxes around and running up and down all the stairs - even my 'garden' is in tiers with a steep climb down to the lower part!
Congratulations Lynne! I'm glad that you like it. Do you have any work to do.CD go to the author thread.

However gradually things have been sorted out, and it's got lots of character.
