Jennifer (jenmm) | 118 comments A couple of months back I got a rash of dating adverts - could have had my pick of men, women, different ethnic groups, people in uniform,... I was getting quite worried for a while! If it is supposed to be targetted marketing, I'm not quite sure who they think they are targetting.

Deanne | 651 comments Trying to stay awake, been up since 6am yesterday, busy night doing emergencies, shouldn't have taken An Ice-cream war to work to read. Trying to work out where it's set, and if I've been there already in my around the world challenge.

Tough one Deanne. Haven't read but wiki says set in British East Africa which was Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Zanzibar....just depends where you think is best. Wish it was on kindle as haven't been to any of them.

Michael Parker (michaelparker) | 95 comments Just how clever is the Goodreads website? I had a novel published in 2007 titled HELL'S GATE. It has been available on Amazon since then and now as an e-book and a paperback (two months) It is also available on Amazon in large print. As far as Goodreads is concerned, the book doesn't exist. When I tried to give away copies in the Goodreads giveaway, it rejected the ISBN number (Amazon's), and today when I tried to add my book I am told it doesn't exist. Anybody out there have any clues as to why?

Try the goodreads librarians group they should put it right for you.

message 861: by Helen (new)

Helen | 3465 comments Michael, if you are a librarian you can add it. Otherwise ask in the librarians group. In Jan a lot of books were taken off due to leaglities with Amazon.

Deanne | 651 comments Just noticed that the replica of the HMS Bounty was sank by hurricane Sandy, bad enough that it's killed 16 that we know of.
Just think they should stop giving them such benign names, just encourages us to treat them less seriously.

Totally random thought......am considering becoming a Mormon if the horrendous Romney wins the US election so I also can get closer to god by wearing my special Mormon underpants.

Helen | 3465 comments Is there a way of finding authors under a surname letter? Must finish my a-z.

message 885: by Susan (last edited Nov 11, 2012 10:12PM) (new)

Susan Have a look on the Fantastic Fiction site, Helen.
They have a way of searching for author's alphabetically.

I found it was a huge help with the more difficult letters to visit my local Library....it actually got me started using it again, and I've found some great author's which are new to me.
I love how I can order books online, and they inform me by email when they are ready to be picked up....I can even renew them online too....I'm sure everyone else knows this already, but not having used the library for years, I hadn't kept up with it.
They even sent me an email to tell mi I'd left a bookmark in a book, and that it was waiting for me to collect....I call that good service!

message 886: by Helen (new)

Helen | 3465 comments That is good service. I used to go every week for my daughter to choose books. I should go or they'll close.

Lynne - The Book Squirrel (squirrelsend) | 3122 comments My local library are brilliant too, they will always email when the books are due back and today they looked on there system for authors beginning with X for and ordered a couple for me.

They email when they come in as well. Even with all the books I have I still use the library.

message 888: by Nick (new)

Nick | 42 comments I use the library every other week these days, my two little ones love their books and we just let them crawl around in the childrens area, and we have already made them members. we take lots a childrens books out for the mand normally one each for ourselves.

message 898: by Susan (new)

Susan Helen wrote: "Ha! 8/10. Although I guessed almost every answer."

Me too, Helen, but I was only sure of 2.... The others were a mixture of elimination and guessing!

message 899: by Helen (new)

Helen | 3465 comments Snap. I'd read some so knew they couldn't be the answer but then pure guess work.
