Chinook | 731 comments Many of Ian Rankin’s Rebus series have titles from songs - I think the first may be Hide and Seek (Imogen Heap). I’ve been wanting to reread the series before the newer ones - it’s been at least 13-15 years since I read the earlier ones.

message 57: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Eckler | 31 comments The first title that came to mind could also fill the "LGBTQ+" category: She's Not There: A Life in Two Genders by Jennifer Finney Boylan

message 64: by Suezq (new)

Suezq | 2 comments Do you think "Scuse Me While I Kiss This Guy" would qualify? I mean, it isn't the actual lyric. :-)

message 65: by Chinook (new)

Chinook | 731 comments It’s a pretty clear callback to a lyric. I’d say it fits the spirit of the prompt myself.

message 66: by Tara (new)

Tara Bates | 1008 comments Yeah I agree with chinook

message 68: by Christy (new)

Christy | 358 comments Isn't Let the Right One In a reference to the Morrissey song Let the Right One Slip In? Even if it's not an intentional reference, the English translation's title is the first line of the song, so it counts. :-)

message 72: by Ramona (new)

Ramona Mead (ramonamead) | 24 comments I’ve had Animals Strike Curious Poses by Elena Passarello on my TBR since it came out because the title is a lyric from a Prince song! It’s a collection of essays written as biographies of famous animals.

message 85: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 1756 comments Tytti wrote: "another is a dystopia I don't feel like reading On the Beach ..."

On the Beach is one of my favourite books and it's not really a dystopia (that words gets used too much these days) but a story about getting on with life when you know the end of the world is unavoidable (nuclear war has happened in the Northern Hemisphere and it is set in Australia as they wait for the fallout to hit them). It's incredibly sad though.

message 86: by Lilia (new)

Lilia Snyder | 53 comments Does it count if song lyrics are indirectly in the title?

message 87: by Lilia (new)

Meredith | 18 comments I’m going with Ron Chernow’s Alexander Hamilton, but Lin Manuel Miranda has a much shorter book (Hamilton) he wrote for the musical as well. All the songs from the musical are great for this, and it works for the star play/musical prompt as well.

(Sorry for book links, I’m on my phone.)
