I did really well last month. I gave a lamp and shade away. Yay! Recipient was delighted. Win/win.

I'm with you in this one Anna, we seem to be regarded as a repository of useful stuff we might be able to rehome :-)

My neighbour is like that, if someone gives her a present she won't use, it goes in the wardrobe, I'd rather donate it to charity and let someone use it - the amount of times we've put something out on the stall that we think is awful and it's the first thing to sell is unbelievable

Little presents, like a box of toiletries, oh yes, they go out to 'good causes. I've been bought so much face cream (which I never get round to using) that I really have to do something with it before it all goes off (or whatever face cream does). Bet you don't have that problem, Jim.

Jim, you have a farm: everyone assumes you have acres of unused storage space...

I have a desk job again so I might be able to make a more regular appearance than once every blue moon! I've missed you guys. I've also missed my Kindle, I don't get as much chance to read anymore but I've started using Audible instead to try and make up for it!
So, how are things? I'm good, the kids are good and getting bigger. Kitty starts preschool in September!

I kinda like it ... tucked up in my shed, fire on, rain pattering on the roof; nose pressed to the window :)

Jim, I remember a blog post you did about finding things that were from three generations back in your barn which had been put there, 'in case they come in useful' and mending things with them.
Everyone, my parents have a barn like this.
I buy loads of shizz. I have 40 boxes of toys in our garage loft and nowhere to display them anymore. I should sell them.
Cheers
MTM

One person's trash is another's treasure, especially in Baku. Re-home with abandon and a smile.

It has not been fun, especially for a decision-impaired person, but there's no going back now.

Congrats on the new post Patti!
We have been teaching Dexter animal sounds and his families names and counting to 10. It is the cutest thing hearing him count. 1, 2, 5, 7, 4.
Hope everyone is ok, glad the dog is alright to Lynne!

You're right I don't
And nobody buys me clothes because I've threatened to buy them underwear if they do :-)
On a serious note, have you thought of donating to your local foodbank? They don't just have food, a lot of them have such things as hygiene products and similar, and some of them have 'extras' which people can have, and face cream and suchlike fall into that.
Nice stuff is often put to one side and given as small presents at Christmas

like a battered Range Rover which is a friend's 'next project' :-)

Teach him your phone number. That'll be fun.

The few places here want money, not stuff. I suppose money is easier to embezzle.
Did I say that out loud? Oops.
I'll give a lot of the stuff to the PTA. They can use it in next year's tombola or something.

Church and School Summer/Christmas/Fundraising Sales are handy things to offload unwanted items. I have also promised things to the daycare centre where Mum goes. And craft things and assorted other items (plastic bottle tops!.) go to the nursery where my SIL works.
The last month has been hectic. Trying to keep up at work when I have been effectively only working part time because of having appointments here there and everywhere with Mum. Having time off because she was not well with side effects from the new treatment. And trying to have me time- so as well as reading whenever I can and my gym classes I have treated myself to a massage (and booked another for next week)
My niece is busy packing for the move. Which means I will have to sort out a passport. fortunately I won't need one for the weekend break booked at Welshpool
Hope everyone is well, and congratulations on various new jobs

The docs have me working half days from home to ease myself back into the grind. Today I'm taking part in a team meeting by phone. Deep joy.

Sounds like you're overdue a break, Janet!

in my darker moments I suspect that you're right
Hope the drift back to work goes well

I'm slowly getting set up with access to everything, it makes me miss Aberdeen though. I miss my colleagues and working in the IT department meaning anything IT related was done immediately!
I've started trying to teach Nathan his animal sounds but he hasn't really caught on yet, he copies us well enough though. His pig noise is hilarious

Flower arranging this afternoon. All these elegant pusuits. You'd think I was a laydee!

How to drive mad people madder!
Gave up and resorted to email...
Cuppa tea in order :)

Hope you enjoyed your telephone meeting Will. Hope things start to ease off for you Janet, at least you are finding a little bit for me time.

Another truckload of furniture is going to a local charity in half an hour.
Honestly, I knew we had too much stuff, but it's amazing what you accumulate in 37 years at the same place.
I sit in a chair and direct the packing ladies - I hope I can find a few things to wear.
And this is just for putting the house on the market, not actually moving.

Haven't been in the ELC in months!"
Read that - and my brain asked me how Patti was going to cope with a room full of 9-month-old babies. The brain is fried.

You do everything madly.
:D"
*punches Patti in the head madly*
Love you too x

Seems to apply to a lot of official departments these days. No wonder that by the time people get through, they're angry already.

Amen to that!

Amen to that!"
took me 20 minutes (tops) to have my Cds live on ebay. Three days of getting incomprehensible and badly written emails about esoteric, irrelevant and bizarre subjects from a parallel universe called Amazon Selling and I gave up completely.

Surprisingly, she wasn't interested in the plastic bamboo picture frame...

You people who move a lot probably don't relate, but the things that are going have been 'mine' for almost 4 decades, and it is an odd feeling.
I hope those things will be useful to their new owners. Kind of like donating organs, except you don't have to die first.
I could tell you stories...
