Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments What is he changing the taps into?

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Non-dripping ones.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Exciting news Patti, think Cyprus will suit you :)

It's been a lovely day here, not a cloud in the sky, coolish wind. What's happening down south looks horrendous! We have a very high tide though, it's nearly up at the top of the harbour so luckily not much of a swell (yet).

Last time I cleared out my undersink cupboard I found things that would have been of interest to an anthropological archaeologist.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Kath wrote: "Non-dripping ones."

Oh how boring. I was hoping that the hot tap would be a chocolate fountain, and the cold tap would be a rum fountain.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments It's throwing it down here has been all day there are equinoxial gales and a bit of ice cold north wind.

message 4456: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments not quite shirt sleeve weather but it's been dry, blustery and too hot for a jacket when out of the wind :-)

Change rum for archers and I'd be happy with that. Imagine how many people would love taps like that

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Blimey Kath, what a spelling-checking numpty that was!

We have an office in Cyprus, may have to wangle a trip there - sunshine ......

We were getting ready to go to an afternoon tea party yesterday, for an 80th birthday, and our telly was on - vrrrrroooooommmmmm - bet it was louder than that outside your flat, Patti.

Tim | 8539 comments I went to Cyprus when I was 16. I was ill. I'm sure it's very nice there, but I didn't much appreciate it at the time.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I had a similar problem with Prague, also couldn't find my hotel.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I experienced both in India.

I'm at work. I don't think they really needed me but they've cobbled together a few lessons for me to cover.
I'm here now so they're paying me for the day, dammit!

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Morning all - it's frosty! That's a surprise. Beautiful morning though

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I’m struggling a bit, nothing major I hope but pup isn’t well, he’s off to the vets and I’m praying he hasn’t eaten anything stupid, we caught him with a big lead weight out of the curtain hem in the week and husband’s worried he’s had more. Not that he had a clue what it was when he found it. Now he’s convinced pup has swallowed more. He’s had hiccups all night and looks really sorry for himself. Dog, not husband.
Grandson coughing again and gold medal tantrums, daughter not well, my cup runneth over. Fed up is an understatement.

message 4466: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning all, sunny here as well.
Dogs eat all kinds of stupid things, Lynne - hope yours is okay!

message 4467: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Aww. Big hug for Lynne. That's all rubbish. One at a time would be bad enough.
First evening meeting of our Natural History Society so I hope the weather holds.

message 4468: by Anna (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1752 comments No wonder you're struggling, Lynne. Cuddle that pup! Poor darling. And then grandson and daughter worries...

We have sunshine in the south-east - at last. Not sure how long it will last.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments They are resurfacing the road outside our house ... at night. It's very noisy, indeed the whole house shakes, you can even feel it moving as you lie in bed, and they are still 100 yards away from us. They finish somewhere around one or two o'clock in the morning and it's going to take them six or seven days.

On the upside, there are a whole load of steam rollers outside my front door to eyebomb.

On the downside, I was just getting started with the little eyes this morning when a bloke from the same works in a lorry turned up and now he's parked up there and is sitting in his cab eating a sandwich so I've had to come inside again.

Also on the downside. I am in a quandary. I am supposed to be going to Hexham for a party this week end. As it's a bank holiday weekend and the roads will be shited I thought I'd be clever and go by train. It's 4.5 hours by train but of course, a lot of it'll be a rail replacement bus service.

On the upside, there's a high chance that a friend will be driving the bus.

On the downside, I can't help feeling that if I will still be stuck in the bollocksed traffic in the A1 even if I'm going by train, I may as well save £90 quid and be stuck there in my own car. But then it means I'll be doing a 600 mile round trip and even google thinks it'll take me 5 hours each way.

As a result, I am beginning to think that with projected sleep levels for the week at ... not much before two, I might have to bow out of the party gracefully. Even though I love my friends and the 40th was a gas it's a chuffing long way to for a night nursing my achy knees while other people dance. Worse, if I leave at 10 am I won't get there until about four and I will be ready for bed by about five! Also, I'll need to be gone by 10 am the following morning to get home at a decent time, too.

Beginning to think that I might be using too many spoons as I will be driving round the M25 tomorrow as usual and again for a 10am funeral (so that's a 5 am start) next week.

I wish the party was at half term, then we could all go and it'd be so much easier. But one of McOther's key colleagues work is away so he is mega-stressed and just wants to zonk out this weekend. Fighting through bank holiday traffic is not on his agenda of fun things to do. Trouble is, it's not on mine either.

Aaargh. Decisions, decisions.

Cheers

MTM

Didn't even go to church last Sunday because the packing ladies came yesterday, and I had to think it through. Once you're used up a spoonful of energy, you may not be able to get another. Priorities. Darn bodies. I want a new one.

Can anyone suggest characters/famous people that 5-7 year old girls might know at the moment? I'm doing a '20 questions who am I' type game with Rainbows tonight but no real idea who they might know (I started feeling out of touch when they hadn't heard of Joseph the musical!!)

Peppa pig and what's the one about elves? Dora the explorer ... I may be well out of this, myself. Biff, Chip, Kipper et al from the key stage reading books. Harry Potter.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Just read Aviva trains in Wales will be taking the toilets out of service to save money. Thats a real (no) crap idea. Grandson had a mega meltdown yesterday when his daddy collected him from school. They’d had yams (lambs) visiting , he loves animals and he wanted to bring them home.
I sympathise Mary. Our neighbour is digging his garden out alongside our garage to make himself a garage. The earth bank is about 10’ so there’s a JCB and a dumper truck working non stop.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Dog fine, nothing to see on the X-ray and nothing wrong. I guessed he’s eaten bits of plastic /rubber off his toys and it’s set up an irritation. Only damage is to OH’s chequebook.

Dora, yes.

Dunno if the kids here are on the same page as there, though. Ex-pat kids always seem to be a year or two behind the trends.

I'd have a look at the most viewed kids' videos on YouTube.

I've only just seen this Lynne. So glad he is OK. They know how to worry us don't they. (((hug))) Having a bit of a slow-burn week as I don't seem to have much energy. Outside the sun is shining and there are lots of things I need to do but hey-ho, tomorrow's another day. Talking of demonic cats, little girl Amberleigh celebrated her 18th birthday yesterday and has been looking very pleased with herself all week. Something is afoot - or a paw...

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Another day of flat sorting.

I seem to have a system sorted.

Stuff that belongs to the flat.
Stuff for the UK.
Stuff to ship to Cyprus.
Stuff to get rid of.

The stuff to get rid of pile is interesting. There doesn't seem to be anything we've actually bought. It's stuff we've been given over the past six years, for the most part.

Hopefully someone will have use for it.

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments A good clear-out can be therapeutic, especially when you have a system going. Nice to think of unused/unwanted items making their way to a new home. Enjoy, Patti.

(Weather is like winter here...)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12596 comments Morning all, stumbled on one of Lucy's toys after turning the light off, so foot made sleep hard. Raining here, got a meeting first thing to work things out following colleagues semi retirement, hope it's better than the last one. Fundraising meeting after work

Glad you have a system Patti, hope you can find a home for the stuff to get rid of

Such as a plastic picture frame made to look like bamboo. A coffee cup that looks like a camera lens. Hideous costume jewelry.

So, yeah.
