Ouch. Not fair.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Aw, Lindsay.

It sucks so much to be trapped where you're not happy.
I hope a better position comes along for you very soon.

I had a very quiet birthday. Gloriously quiet.

Dave brought some takeaway and cake home. And my birthday rose, of course.
My proper party is tomorrow night at a friend's place.
Apparently, there's going to be party games.
I'm hoping for silly hats as well.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12596 comments Morning all, another disturbed night sleep, including my neighbour at 6.30, he's just had his car engine replaced but took 5 goes to start it! Raining here, glad my neighbour is back. Got my appointment through - 19th May, but doesn't sound like they are doing an ultrasound, just looking if I need insoles.

Glad you had a lovely birthday Patti, enjoy your party. Sorry your daughter didn't appreciate your help Lynne

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good morning all, the sun is shining here- right in my eyes and I can’t move as grandson is fast asleep on my knee. He woke up, came downstairs, jumped on my knee and crashed out. It’s nice but I’ve got linen trousers on and I shall look as if I’ve slept in them when he wakes up. I hope he remembers not to wee as he’s bing trusted in the pants department. Oh the joys of having kids. I wish my own would grow up. If I say I’m really looking forward to my holidays you’ve got the message.
Have a good day all.

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning all! Altrernating sun and rain here, not quite sure what's going on.
Glad your birthday went well, Patti.
Being trapped in a job is the worst feeling, Lindsay - hope you find something better soon.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning all. You have my sympathy in buckets, Lynne.
Chilly but bright here this morning. I promsied some hellebore seedlings to a friend I'm seeing tomorrow so I'd better get my donkey in gear and pot a few up for her.
Other than that, writing!

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1752 comments I'm often in the doghouse, Lynne, with my daughter and mostly it's for trying 'to help'. I now have a note in my diary reminding me that there are some people who do not want or need my help... sigh.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12596 comments A colleague has bought me some support socks for plantar fasciitis, a bit reluctant to use them in case they make the bruising worse but will try tomorrow after work.

message 4363: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Marie Gabriel (lisamariegabriel) | 1066 comments I'm going to enjoy the sunshine for a while. I hate to come here and moan but I am so tired of paying over the odds for a broadband service that is ten times slower than dial-up EVER was. In case you wondered, that is why I am rarely here. Too much time spent fighting BT broadband for the simplest of connections. Even simple log in pages take 5-10 minutes to load at times. I am also tired of adverts offering new customers Infinity at less cost than I currently pay and then telling me this service is not available two miles outside Lincoln. Rant over but my BP has been sky-high for days now. I have done zero work. Not helped by the fault finder saying their are no problems in this area. Nevertheless I am still alive even if my Broadband is ailing. :)

I had this once and it is NO joke. I tried putting some sponge in my shoes underneath a regular gel insole. It worked for me but took ages and it is exquisitely painful, so I sympathise. (((hug)))

My daughter had a bout of PF, and was given a set of exercises by a physical therapist - she's now supposed to do them prophylactically, but often forgets, but if the pain starts she can get it under control quickly. She's a dancer, ballroom, and on her feet a LOT. So if what you have IS PF, maybe exercises could help strengthen and tone the muscles and ligaments and tendons.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12596 comments I doubt I do have PF seeing as the main issue is a swollen middle toe.

Sorry to hear that Lisa, my neighbour had the same issue with BT, she changed to Sky who fixed the problem immediately, BT were looking at the wrong box! Might be worth trying. Oh dear Patti!

message 4369: by Anna (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1752 comments We've changed from troublesome BT to Sky - much better.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12596 comments Morning all, slept through till 6! Hectic morning, then going out for a meal for a colleague who is kind of retiring. Petrol and food shopping after work. Think its trying to rain

I wear orthotic insoles for 'pronation' which is basically, flat feet, which is basically what causes plantar fasciatis.

If you go to a big boots, or a decent chemist, and say you need insoles to correct pronation and then wear them all the time, it will go. I am currently two weeks into revisiting orthotic insoles having worn them to great effect, years ago, and then forgotten about them. In my case, the altered position of the foot from walking flat footed gives me horrendous knee pain. The pain is still there with the orthotics but not to the point where it wakes me at night. For the first time in over 18 months I've had a week of decent sleep.

They are expensive but well worth it. You can get half foot ones to go in your shoes, full shoe length and I even have some sticky gel ones to go in the fit flops I wear in the house all day. That said, these ones were £6 or thereabouts and have done me proud the last couple of weeks.

Cheers

MTM

PS, the balls of my feet were also really hurting and that's going away too!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Mikey! Enjoy your last day! I'm pleased you've got a wee break before the new job.

Mary! A week of decent sleep! So, so pleased the knees have improved a bit!

Kath, I've not had a hair cut in months and months. I always wear my hair up at school cuz there's been incidents of lice in the school in past. I took it down last week for the Skype interview and had a bunch of the little girls who saw me shrieking with delight.
'Ms Patti! Let us braid your hair!'

Bless.

The practice laps having been going on here all day.

The noise is unfuckingbelievable.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Patti, we clearly have similar hair management policies. I've been meaning to get mine cut for three months now. Sometime I'll get round to it I expect.

Cheers

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Llandeilo Literary Festival this weekend. I'm off shortly to help set up the tables for the 2 day book fair.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12596 comments Had a lovely meal for my colleague, who was over the moon with his presents, I managed not to cry!! Nipped into Morrisons after getting petrol to get some colcannon for my neighbour, spent £34!! And as the checkout lady commented, not even any alcohol in my basket! Have put my socks on, seem to be helping.

Glad the orthotics are helping you MT, bet you are feeling much better after a week of sleep. Wow, how long is your hair Patti?? Enjoy the festival Will. Good luck with your break and then new job Michael.

message 4385: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments It was the first time Dave and I had played it.

I'm so gonna buy a set!

I hadn't laughed so much in months!

Good morning!

It's verging on hot here. Got the balcony door wide open but thinking of closing it again. Baku really smells bad today.

The noise is starting early today. Only got an hour and half of peace left.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12596 comments Well, woke up wide awake at 5am, gave up at 6, made a cup of tea and took it back to watch some TV, promptly caught it with my duvet and spilled it all over the floor!! Lucy started fussing from 7.30, so gave up at 8. Lots of housework and need to go and pay for my neighbours birthday present, sun is currently shining, but looking at the forecast that might not last.

Glad you had a great party Patti.

Happy belated birthday, Patti.

Ah Lindsay, sorry the job isn't going great.

Instead of physically meeting up with some writing friends this morning we video called using Zoom. Brilliant. Meant we could look at docs etc on screen as well. Very techie.

Now off to Waitrose - the day just gets more and more exciting ....
