Been a bit quiet this week, sorry a bit preoccupied

Had a fantastic start to the week though, little baby couldn't wait to get through the doors at hospital and so made his appearance in the lift!!! That's number two in 4 and a half years, thrilled to bits :)

That one I have sounded off about and told her mum to sort it!

Woke to a cold cup of coffee next to the bed. Tsk. Got an extra half hour of sleep, though, so that's alright.
I hope the wound care at home is re-instated, Lynne. It's terrible that proper care has to be fought for rather than freely given.
I hope things will start to improve for you and your family, Rosemary. It's a hard time, I know.
Exciting, Claire! I have so much respect for what you do.
It's still blowing a hooly here. I really can't see how people can stand living in tower blocks in this city.

Unfortunately, it's not cold enough to stick.

Hope all goes well with the job application, Lyndsay.
Another damp and dowly day here so on with the edits. They've come at a time when I've got a fairly busy schedule so I'm grabbing moments here and there.

That is utterly shocking Lynne!!

I know what that's like - you have my sympathy.
Be extra careful - sleep deprivation is dangerous. Hope you are of the ones who can catch up a bit with a nap.

I know w..."
Am not good at napping, it takes about an hour to get to sleep!! And if I sleep after 2.30ish, I don't sleep that night.

That is shocking. It takes a lot of energy to feed a newborn! And the mother is not well.

That's too bad. 3-5 half-hour naps a day, or I don't function at all! And many of them I go into a deep sleep, if only for a short while. I call it mental dialysis because my brain gets cleaned out, and I'm ALWAYS better after a nap. Hate taking them - I'm not a toddler - but I need them.

It'll blow your frikken head off.
Tasty, though.

He asked me where a shop was the other day I told him to turn left as he went out of our road- he turned right!

If you fancy some proper curry pastes n such, Will, pop into the shop on the other corner by the vegan Indian we went to.
It's a brilliant shop. They even had dried durian!

He asked me where a shop was the other day I told him to turn left as he went out of our road- he turned right!"
And came home to tell you you were wrong, I'm sure.
Asked Dave to bring toilet roll home today. Emailed him with instructions on which shop, which brand, which shelf.
Told him if he got it wrong, he'd be doing it again tomorrow.
He got it right.

Good luck with the job, Lindsay - fingers crossed.
Lynne, I was catching up on the posts and glad baby seems to be on the up a bit but horrified that there aren't enough nurses to take care of the basic needs of a poorly baby. Seems like things haven't progressed in the right direction since your kids were born.
Desley, that was naughty of them at work. You should have been allowed to look into what happened before being called to a meeting.
Am so happy to have a car again. The freedom of leaving work when I want to, not when the bus is due, is fab.

Does it smell as bad as fresh? Color isn't appealing. Even if grey matters.

He asked me where a shop was the other day I told him to turn left as he went out of our road- he turned ..."
Funny how inconvenience to themselves seems to focus their attention.

Ordered an inflatable seat cushion.
It came with a small air pump for adjusting the pressure.
The needle valve has an OD of 7mm.
The hole in the pump has an ID of 8mm.
Can't screw the d**n thing in! It slips in and out - no way to seal, so you can inflate.
Sigh.

The person responsible is in some factory in China. I'd love to visit China (not enough energy to do that), but wouldn't spend time looking to bop some hapless Chinese persons whose manager ordered the wrong needles.
It's just one of those things that take so much energy to fix, it's not worth it.
But gave me a little relief to whine about it - counts as words, right?

Enjoy your home time, Kelly. Do you find flying plays havoc with your skin? Always takes a good couple weeks and a vat of unguent to undry my hands and feet after flying.
Well, that's annoying, Alicia. A inflatable seat cushion sounds nice. Or farty. ;)
We got Dave's mother a really comfy memory foam seat cushion a few years ago, as she'd got so slim the bones in her bum were hurting. Maybe something to explore instead?
Good morning!
Seems the flu is making the rounds at school. I expect I'll be getting call ins soon.

Cooking - ever watched a man being so terrified of getting it wrong that he follows a recipe to the letter?
Geeking - we positively luxuriate in instructions if it's a technical activity that we take an unreasonable amount of interest in. Old cars. Computers. Cameras.
I think the guiding principle is that we don't read instructions for activities that we expect to be able to do using natural hunter-gatherer instincts. It's an affront to our masculinity.

Sorry to hear you cant use your inflatable seat Alicia.

I suspect the problem is often that the instructions don't mean what the one giving the instructions meant
Like the chap who was sent to the supermarket by his wife. As he left the house she said, "I want two pints of milk, but if they have eggs, get a dozen."
He came home with a dozen pints of milk.
His wife asked, "Why did you get all the milk?"
"They had eggs."

Lots of news from everyone too. Did you discover what the boom was Patti? How are the cats doing Desley? Not much happening of any note here, today is a little cold and damp for the cats so they are playing in and out through the front door while I shiver on the sofa.
The grain free, sugar and starch free diet is going pretty well and I was pleased to get my A1c down from 49 (6.8) to 41 (5.9) . That and the luxury of choosing between eggs and bacon, flax wraps with sugar free maple syrup and microwave nut flour brownies for breakfast continues to hold me in thrall. It's amazing just how many goodies you can eat and still lose weight if you just give up grains, sugar and starchy vegetables.
Onwards and upwards, lots of stuff to do today and I have some 18th century memoirs I want to read. Have a lovely day everyone and good luck Lindsay.

I'm using my old seat cushion - which is like an exercise ball, only flatter, supposedly to encourage good posture as you fidget to cope with it being slightly unstable.
The new one was supposed to be so I don't have to carry it downstairs to watch TV on - only, of course, they don't make the exact same one I already have! They may have a point, as I've had it at least ten years with no degradation in functionality.
This getting old thing is not for sissies!
