Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Hope 2018 is better than all the previous years for everyone except a certain American with orange hair and all his minions. May they receive their just deserts.

Happy writing to the writers here, and happy reading to all, and to all a good night.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments So are you planning to send Trump to a desert? The Atacama springs to mind, or the Mojave...

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Just back after taking Magic Molly ( and a couple of possessed poodles) up Hay Bluff and then round the town.

I took the sensible precaution of giving K my wallet before the lure of the bookshops became overwhelming.

Jim | 21809 comments what a difference half an hour makes, wandered down to the beach just now, clear sky, almost full moon, stars out, Orion looking particularly good.
On my way back 10 tenths cloud, not a star to be seen

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments They came out for a special showing just for you.

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning all! Frost here, but no rain

message 1714: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments It is still so dark here that it doesn't feel like morning yet

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments There was an absolute cracker of a sunrise here - fierce reds and oranges. Somehow that hasn't moved on into daylight yet

message 1716: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Morning. I had a rough night. Always do when Dave isn't home.

Been pissing down for hours. Looks like it's here for the day.

message 1717: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning! We had one of those flaming sunsets, Rosemary. Just dull now.

message 1718: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments Morning all. It's just started raining. Well, more drizzle really. The usual.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Morning, had a rubbish night sleep, my eye is twingy, my leg is sore and it's raining. Car is at the garage, so plan is housework and admin, losing interest in my to do list though

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments First day back at work since December 22nd. It's tough.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Poor you Kelly

I'd rather be at home, lounging around with my kindle and cuddling one of the cats. Hey ho.

Hope your eye is a bit better now.

Am sure you would! Have to pay the bills though. Decided to get an eye test, was interrupted googling specsavers by the post, opened my boots vouchers to find a free eye test voucher, booked it for tomorrow (am not back till Mon)

Read more, write more - hope it goes quickly. Breaks in routine are hard.

Sorry the eye is still giving you problems. Hug a cat.

Would do, except all 3 would draw blood

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I've been in full lounge mode all day. Well, except for doing a load of laundry, packing a suitcase and running a duster round the flat.

Weather has been dire, so no walk.

Now contemplating a hot shower and clean jammies before an evening vegging in front of the telly.

What a rock n roll life I lead.

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments I've just ventured outside, and there seems to be some sort of storm going on

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments I didn't get much achieved, got distracted with the voluntary work. Picked up car from garage, got change from £30! Very weathery outside

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments Morning all,

Happy hump day!

message 1732: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Still very blowy here, but at least we didn't lose power overnight

message 1733: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Good morning all. Very windy here too.

message 1734: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning, everyone. I don't think a single house on our street had their bins still standing.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Morning all, very wet and windy, but bins still standing, unlike the street behind me, and we have power. Very sinus-y this morning, so popping to the doc shortly, then an eye test. Was going to the car wash, but think that can wait!

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good morning, well we had a ‘danger to life’ warning which sounded menacing. I’m sure we’ve missed the worst of it. It didn’t seem as bad as some ordinary storms here.
OH still suffering, Peptobismol & lomotil still on the menu. Plus point there isn’t much washing up to do.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Good morning.

Weather is yucky. Gotta get to the bank and stuff today, though. We've been putting off all holiday.

message 1738: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Apparently it hit 111mph on Great Dunn Fell. Which is fair enough because nobody actually lives up there :-)

message 1739: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments 75 mph a few miles from me.

message 1740: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments Morning. Bins still upright. Fences intact. So less disruptive than the previous blow.

message 1741: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments and better than that, it's not raining :-)

message 1742: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Apparently a roof blew off a house into the street somewhere in Barry.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Watch out for flying farmhouses!

message 1744: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4834 comments Peaceful morning - everyone's recycling bins are out from the holidays (2 week pickup schedule), so I'm glad there is no wind.

Why I'm up before daybreak is the big question. It's broken now, and so was my sleep.

Husband's eye operation was called a success by the doctor when we saw him yesterday, so we just have to wait for the gas bubble in his eye to diminish naturally and the eyesight to come back naturally - could be months for both. Amazing what they can do now - twenty years ago he would not be able to see out of that eye; now the retina is glued back down and the flap over the macula is gone.

It has been a bit tense. Surgeon told him to lie on his left side; he decided that meant 'most of the time.' I told him you didn't take a cast off for a while because it was uncomfortable. Oh, well.

Just happy there are no consequences to not following orders precisely. I couldn't lie on my side for a week, either. But I'd feel more guilty!

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments A visitor just told me that there is a lot of debris - fallen trees and the like - in Pembrokeshire, with the Cleddai Bridge still closed to anything but cars

message 1746: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Afty. Breezy here but no actual damage. Except that a few of the baubles blew of the Christmas tree in the front garden. So I picked them up.

Been writing. Now some reviewing.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments Made the mistake of walking to the doc and asking to see my favourite - he was running so late I had the quickest app ever and made him give me a nasal spray! Then had to rearrange my eye test for this afternoon. Just been arranging homing some kittens this weekend, so just eating. Might do something from my to do list.

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Kath wrote: "I think I have a to don't list..."

Is that things you never plan to do (which seems like an immensely long list) or just things to specifically avoid doing?

I might pinch the idea...
