Finished yesterday The Crucible by Arthur Miller.
A really interesting play on Salem but, mainly, on the period of Mccarthyism in USA. On how dignity is more imporant than life, or work ....

This has been on my TBR for over a year now, we'd love to hear what think as this was a monthly group read as well:

PattyMacDotComma Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara has added another cute book to the Little People BIG DREAMS series for even littler people. Jane Goodall. What a wonderful woman!

PattyMacDotComma Work It, Girl: Boss the Bestseller List Like J.K. Rowling by Caroline Moss celebrates one of the world's favourite authors. This one is for kids, but adults will enjoy the inspiring story and clever paper pictures. I sure did!

Natalie | 4 comments I just completed How Not to Die Alone by Richard Roper. While I did enjoy most facets of this book, I did feel that other parts could have been done marginally better. I gave this book a 3.5 star rating overall, and for a debut novel, I thought it was a pretty good portrayal of loneliness, lost love, death, and how people change. While this wasn't the perfect book, it was still a nice read overall.

PattyMacDotComma It was a treat to re-read One Good Turn by Kate Atkinson. I liked it even better than before. First published in 2007, it was re-released along with the rest of the Jackson Brodie series to get us warmed up for #5.

PattyMacDotComma I just enjoyed another trip to Prague in A Second Death by Graham Brack, featuring my favourite Czech detective, Josef Slonský, and his police 'family'. The crimes are nasty, but the people are great!

Finished yesterday two books worth the reading. The fist I bambini di Vienna by Robert Neumann, on abandoned children in the Vienna after WWII.
The second, one of my favourite, The Rotters' Club by Jonathan Coe. Here's my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Tamara Agha-Jaffar | 1413 comments The Turtle of Oman by Naomi Shihab Nye.
A charming children's story about a young boy's preparation to leave his Muscat home with his parents to spend a few years in Michigan. It's a book one can give to a child who has apprehensions about leaving home.

Goat Mountain by David Vann. Unsettling, replete with graphic violence and visceral language. Not for everyone.

PattyMacDotComma I thought I'd revisit James Bond in Ian Fleming's first Bond adventure, Casino Royale. The rakish spy may have done OK with SMERSH, but he wouldn't have survived #MeToo.

PattyMacDotComma I enjoyed a change of mystery pace with Alexander McCall Smith's second book in the #1 Ladies' Detective Agency series, Tears of the Giraffe. Warm, funny characters in warm, sunny Botswana. (Some dodgy people, too. It IS a detective agency.)

Petra | 3324 comments I finished They Were Counted by Miklós Bánffy.
What a gem! This book manages to tell the story of individuals, a people and a country in pre-WWI Hungary. It's the start of a trilogy and I will be continuing with it very soon.
