Kathleen | 401 comments I read Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair by Pablo Neruda, and while it isn't my favorite collection of his poems, I still loved it. Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

And Sandra Cisneros's Caramelo is a wonderful multi-generational epic told in a very unique style. Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Thank you Cleo. Yes, I hope to eventually read all of his poems, and then keep re-reading them … :-)

PattyMacDotComma Any Ordinary Day: What Happens After the Worst Day of Your Life? Acclaimed Aussie journalist Leigh Sales has done an extraordinary job of helping people share their horror stories (I can hardly call them anything less!) so that we might understand how to cope and care. It's a page-turner of a different kind.

PattyMacDotComma Young Master Reacher makes his debut, chronologically speaking, in Lee Child's novella, placed in the High Heat of 1977 New York City. Jack, at not quite 17, is already a formidable force!

Petra | 3324 comments I finished reading Malone Dies by Samuel Beckett.
Beckett is a confusing, strange story-teller, yet his story is (so far) a positive look at Life. His writings do take work to make one's way through. The story is sometimes confusing, to say the least.

PattyMacDotComma Nobody should pass up the BuzzBook previews! As expected, I enjoyed Buzz Books 2019: Fall/Winter: Excerpts from Next Season's Best New Titles by Susannah Cahalan, Eoin Colfer, J.T. Ellison, Jojo Moyes, Jeanette Winterson and More which, as you can see, has a lot to choose from. I made a few comments, but it's worth checking the Goodreads blurb for a good list.

Tamara Agha-Jaffar | 1415 comments I finished So Long a Letter by Mariama Bâ, winner of the 1980 Noma Award.

I really enjoyed Ramatoulaye's voice, strength, and stoicism. And I loved the supportive sisterhood relationship she had with her friend.

PattyMacDotComma Case Histories by Kate Atkinson was a re-read for me, and a good one, too! She's written book 5 of her Jackson Brodie mystery series, so I thought I'd catch up. Just as much fun this time around, and I think I enjoyed the characters even more.

Tamara Agha-Jaffar | 1415 comments I finished A Thousand Ships by Natalie Haynes. It's a retelling of the Trojan War from an all-female perspective. I enjoy the retellings of classical myths. I thought this was one of the better ones I've read.
