Themes - list of the forthcoming
But are you intending that original scores and themes be nommed rather than the existing songs many soundtracks compile? If it's the former then I too will be stumped, not that any great mind need to be given to that but beware too many rounds of something with narrow appeal, the more so if you go down the more anoraky route of threads for different film genres. If you allow existing non-original songs then will it be what was intended?Any road up, it's a public forum and tha'll do as tha will.
Definitely just specially composed scores - Bernard Herrmann, Dmitri Tiomkin, John Barry, Ennio Morricone, Elmer Bernstein, Hans Zimmer, Mark Knopfler, the ubiquitous John Williams etc.In spite of never watching films, I’ve always enjoyed film music so I thought all of you who do watch films regularly would have your own favourites.
Just floating an idea that’s all 😀

Looks like it’s not a goer. Never mind.

Give it a go and see, maybe without being genre specific? There's always Chariots of Fire!
Bringing forward a page.206. MFSB - Mother, father, sister and/or brother in song titles. - KJS
207. There Goes The Neighbourhood! - an act from your home town (Straightforward in you live in a city or large town. If you live in Nowheresville, a band formed in a town/city you go to regularly, and within a reasonable driving distance, say 30 minutes in the UK. Anyone in say the Scottish highlands or rural Ireland can have more leeway on that. Say where they're from in your nom post) - Tim
208. 'Sing a song song' - Songs that feature the word 'song' in the title - theDuke
209. It's My Party - any song with the word PARTY in the title - Val
210 - Nobody’s Perfect’ - a song you hate from a band/singer/act you love. - Lez
211- Any song from the first album/single you bought with your own money (or want to admit to buying) - Sera69
212. 'Barbed wire Jockeys' - songs sung in a falsetto voice (doesn't have to be male, just a high register for at least one line) - Brass Neck
213. Tickle Those Ivories - songs that feature a piano - Helen
214. More cowbell! Any track which features afore said percussive instrument. Anyone not sure about what a cowbell sounds like, listen to the beginning of Forbidden Lovers by Be Bop Deluxe - it's that stunted tonk-tonk sound.
Good point Helen. Had a look back and the last entry for Group 10 was Wildcard round 6. We're still currently in Group 11 it appears, so i'll add WC R7 in now:That said, i've collected all the noms from theme 200, which is where the current G11 noms began from..and we can see that some folks have nom'd twice in this group. Not a problem, as i'd forgotten where we were at..but thought i'd ask if folks would like me to rearrange the order at all?
Last entry of Group 10:
199. Wildcard Round 6
Group 11 (all nominated themes):
200. "Good-dreads Inna Babylon - Reggae" - Tech
201. Apes, any apes, monkeys, gorillas (excluding man) in song titles or artists' names - Brass Neck
202. Trios. Any band formed of three members (all must be playing an instrument) - Fishy Jim
203. Songs about a particular sport - sports heroes/villains, sporting wins/losses, sporting events, etc - must be recognisably about a competitive sport (e.g. "Nightswimming" is ineligible) - Val
204. Two single words - single-word song titles by bands/solo performers whose name is a single word (Kiss, Buzzcocks, Beck, etc.); so Beth by Kiss would be acceptable but Help! by The Beatles wouldn't - Gordon
205. Johnny Be Popular - Songs with 'Johnny' in the title - TheFoe
*Themes suspended for Co2018 rounds*
Current G11 themes remaining:
*Currently running* - 206. MFSB - Mother, father, sister and/or brother in song titles. - KJS

Anyone in say the Scottish highlands or rural Ireland can have more leeway on that. Say where they're from in your nom post) - Tim
208. 'Sing a song song' - Songs that feature the word 'song' in the title - theDuke
^^All solitary nominations up to this point^^
209. It's My Party - any song with the word PARTY in the title - Val - *already nommed on theme 203*
210 - Nobody’s Perfect’ - a song you hate from a band/singer/act you love. - Lez

212. 'Barbed wire Jockeys' - songs sung in a falsetto voice (doesn't have to be male, just a high register for at least one line) - Brass Neck - *nommed theme 201*
213. Tickle Those Ivories - songs that feature a piano - Helen
214. More cowbell! Any track which features afore said percussive instrument. Anyone not sure about what a cowbell sounds like, listen to the beginning of Forbidden Lovers by Be Bop Deluxe - it's that stunted tonk-tonk sound - Fishy Jim - *nommed theme 202*
215. Wildcard Round 7
So, here's what i could do...i'll could rearrange those that nom'd once all in G11 & finishing with the wildcard round 7. Then open up GR12, which will begin with those themes placed by the double nominees of GR11, if folks prefer.
Or......we could just completely ignore this one nominator per group rule, if folks don't give a monkey's about it, perhaps?!
Just putting it up there, so folks can see for themselves. It makes no difference to me, but i can rearrange and tidy it up if folks desire it.
So long as there's a reasonable gap between someone's noms, I don't think we need to stick rigidly to everyone has to have a go before the first one can nom again.Maybe a minimum of five noms before you can submit another one.

Completely agree 😀👍
I think we'll forego this one nom per 'round' rule then, and just opt for sensibly spaced nominations from now on, and also drop the group system too. Folks can nom as & when they wish to, but please observe a gap of say 5 or more spaces inbetween noms, thank you.The order will remain as is, so we currently have left:
208. 'Sing a song song' - Songs that feature the word 'song' in the title - theDuke
209. It's My Party - any song with the word PARTY in the title - Val

215. Wildcard Round 7
On the Nobody’s Perfect’ - a song you hate from a band/singer/act you love theme, when it comes to voting are we voting for our favourite songs from the list, or the ones that we dislike most?
I took this over from one of Tech’s suggestions without really thinking about it! Personally I was thinking of the ones you dislike most. I suppose no-one’s going to know really anyway. See what others think when the time comes. I’m easy about it.

How would we feel about doing No 1 on the day you were born? Some people might be reluctant to reveal their age so it might be a no goer, but what's the general consensus?
Been thinking about this one for a while. Your favourite music vids. Be they be award winning ones, well known or lesser known ones, or just songs with official music vids that you enjoy watching/listening.212 - 'Barbed wire Jockeys' - songs sung in a falsetto voice (doesn't have to be male, just a high register for at least one line) - Brass Neck

Spacepig wrote: "How would we feel about doing No 1 on the day you were born? Some people might be reluctant to reveal their age so it might be a no goer, but what's the general consensus?"A goer with me Spacepig...i don't give two hoots about how old i am!
There weren’t any charts or even what we’d call ‘pop’ music when Val and I were born! Age discrimination!
Tech XXIII wrote: "nae problem, space, probably something by one direction or the like!"Knowing my luck, given the year i was born..I bet mine will be bloody Gary Glitter. *sighs*
I think i'd better check it out, for peace of mind!
I wish i hadn't now...The Streak by Ray Stevens....oh purlease!
Pity i wasn't born 3 days later, i could've had Wings Band on the Run! Now that one i do like!
Ah, hang on...which chart do we go by though?
Lez wrote: "There weren’t any charts or even what we’d call ‘pop’ music when Val and I were born! Age discrimination!"They had sheet music charts before record ones, Lez! 😂 What they did before William Caxton, lord knows.
OK let's do it, and for anyone who was born before the charts arrived, how about the No 1 on their birthday they first year they were published (not sure when that was).212 - 'Barbed wire Jockeys' - songs sung in a falsetto voice (doesn't have to be male, just a high register for at least one line) - Brass Neck

The Beatles recorded 'From Me To You' on the day I was born. That's pretty cool. 😎

Yeah but as i said above, which chart are we going by? I've just found another that says the Rubettes were at number 1 for 4 weeks with Sugar Baby Love, when i was born. Sounds a damn sight better than that pish The Streak!

The official UK chart (the one followed in the Hit Singles books) is the Music Week one. Maybe we could also allow the U.S. Billboard number one if the Brit topper is horrendously bad?

The billboard one is where i found The Streak from! I think i'll stick with the other one i found at Official Uk chart! :)
According to a BBC website I just found ... "The first Chart was on 16th November 1952 when Percy Dickens of New Musical Express polled various record stores to determine the most popular sales"
Lez wrote: "There weren’t any charts or even what we’d call ‘pop’ music when Val and I were born! Age discrimination!"If we were to allow U.S. number ones as an alternative to the UK one, the American listings go right back to June 1940

I'm using:
https://tsort.info/music/ds1940.htm
We'll just have to fight over Bing Crosby, Vera Lynn, Vaughn Monroe, Perry Como and Dinah Shore. I thought I could have "If I Knew You Were Comin' I'd've Baked a Cake" but it turns out wrong year. So I'll have to go with
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oe9Rw...
which spent 21 weeks on the charts. I know everyone will be rushing to vote for it!
Using Tim's link to Wiki, I'm down for "(Ghost) Riders in the Sky: A Cowboy Legend" by Vaughn Monroe and His Orchestra. Could have been worse.
Val wrote: "Using Tim's link to Wiki, I'm down for "(Ghost) Riders in the Sky: A Cowboy Legend" by Vaughn Monroe and His Orchestra. Could have been worse."Classic tuneage there, Val
I don't see any reason why we can't use either the UK or US charts, gives us a choice (and my US one is better).
Although I don't identify much with the music of my mewling, puking and nappy-filling days I got Cathy's Clown - Everly Bros - not too shabby.

I'd be up for that. But you'd have to include science fiction, adventure, drama. Some of the genre lines could get blurry.
