Making some progress. I changed one of my books as I wasn't able to find a copy.
The Celia Imrie book just wasn't for me.
I had high hopes for the Carlos Ruiz Zafón after Shadow of the Wind - the first half was amazing, but then I just seemed to get more and more lost.
However I have absolutely adored Chanson Douce, winner of the Prix Goncourt 2016, I really hope this book will be translated into English.

It changes on what I'm in the mood for, Anne, but here's a few.

favorite frozen yogurt is Peach hands down!
Ice cream I'd say are mint chocolate chip, Jamoca almond fudge, raspberry with dark chocolate chunks, if I'm going for classic it would be strawberry! There's one more that for some reason I can't for the life of me remember at the moment. Must need coffee! Hold that thought I'll get back to you! I'm closing in on finishing two more for August!

I'm thinking mint chocolate chip for this one!

Anyone else up for ice cream??

I've had that problem too, Owl, when I was new to Aussie Readers. I set my sights too high, and then I'd feel anxious or guilty because I was lagging behind my reading schedule. This on-line reading group is supposed to be FUN, not torture. So I go for the easy level, and if I can do more in that challenge, I will, as a bonus.

Easy-peasy for me, too. I enjoy finding odd books to fill challenge slots, as long as they really appeal to me. That's the fun of a challenge - new discoveries! But if I really can't find books I particularly want to read, well, there are always more challenges coming up. :)

message 295: by MaryG2E (last edited Aug 26, 2017 12:51AM) (new)

MaryG2E (goodreadscommaryg2e) | 934 comments In conversation with Lil Owl above I said, "So I go for the easy level, and if I can do more in that challenge, I will, as a bonus."
I think I'm about to do just that with this August Armchair challenge.
I've finished my four for the Easy level, but realise I have read sufficient other books to satisfy the requirements of the Medium level, which is Spell-It-Out. So, with 5/7 completed already, here goes:

I've always wanted to visit the Bahamas, and, with a week to go in August, I think I might just get there in my armchair thus:
Progress: 6/7
B: The Blackhouse by Peter May 3★s
A: Angels by Marian Keyes 3.5★s
H: After the Darkness by Honey Brown (AA) 3.5★s
A: Battle Lines by Andy McNab 4★s
M: Say You're Sorry by Michael Robotham (AA) 5★s

Some months I find it a struggle to even read the easy challenges. Life has a habit of getting in the way! But I'm over feeling guilty about it, and as others have said, the challenges are meant to be enjoyable.

I think I will take on board your reward system, so thanks for sharing it! Coffee, liquorice, and green tea are my favourite ice cream flavours. Now I just need to complete a challenge...
