some kid came into my work yesterday (i'm a cashier at a chinese restaurant) and my coworker was like totally chilling with this kid and i lowkey thought "do i have no maternal instincts?? why can't i mesh with this kid like j (my coworker) is?"
like wow angel, u just have to take their order, not have an existential crisis. honestly tho, it's prolly bc of childhood trauma heehee

also for fasting, i didnt fast this yr on yom kippur bc i was on my period and if i dont eat on my period i get nasty, so i bet g-d understands u know? fasting is different for every person-- your relationship with g-d is in your heart, not your stomach
honestly popular 5th grade girls / middle school girls still terrify me to this day. how are u so cool. like how. and WHY am i still afraid of u?? i know i am an adult or whatever, but wearing a thrasher shirt and adidas shoes makes you 138342378234789 times cooler than i can ever dream of

-ramadan is a fast of no food and water from sunrise to sunset.
-typically after the sun sets people have a big meal together and pray together.
-“not even water?!” is the biggest question that non muslims ask— yes, not even water
-the fast lasts 30 days and ends with a holiday called Eid
-ramadan is done for many reasons. some of them include teaching muslims humility, empathizing with the poor who can’t afford to eat, and following one of the 5 pillars of islam
-there are many traditional foods eaten in ramadan. the most common is dates, because that’s what the prophet used to eat after he broke his fast
-ramadan is a holy month that isn’t just about fasting from food and water. it’s about fasting from sins and using the time to get closer to god.
-food and water aren’t the only things that break your fast— the fast can be broken by kissing, intimacy, telling lies, or sinning in general.
-although fasting is a common thing among all sects of islam, each sect does it a little differently
-a lot of people think fasting is bad for your health. there’s a rule set by god in the holy book that specifically says that if fasting is harming your health, then it is forbidden to fast. for example, a person with diabetes would be harmed by not eating all day, so it’s forbidden to fast for them. god’s intention is to harm no one.
-if you see a muslim eating during the day, please don’t point it out. it’s rude. there are many reasons why people don’t/can’t fast, including health problems, pregnancy, and menstruation.
and lastly, don’t be an asshole to people who are/aren’t fasting.
