The Last Book I Read Was...
The Circus Thief is a colourful picture book for kids showing 1929 Pennsylvania. Here's my review, with some illustrations.

A Superior Spectre, Aussie author Angela Meyer's debut novel, is kind of genre-bending. Or genre-fluid? I think many readers will love it.

The Illustrated A Brief History of Time/The Universe in a Nutshell
by Stephen Hawking. Difficult reading. Amazing how quantum theory has advanced in the last century. The observation of gravitational waves predicted by Einstein was recently realized. I'm still not sold on the existence of "wormholes".
Half-Truths and Semi-Miracles is a reissue of Anne Tyler’s 1974 story. If I had a light like this, I’d be tempted to hide it under a bushel, I think, ungrateful so-and-sos.

Last night I finished The Alienist by Caleb Carr. It was really good and now I'm planning on watching the show.
I can't believe I'd never read Rebecca! I thought, well, 80 years old, classic, guess I SHOULD read it. Silly me for waiting. Daphne du Maurier nailed it!

The Animators is the last book that I read. It came up as a discounted book for kindle so I go it and really enjoyed the story. I usually read nonfiction but this one drew me in.
Finished these two. ★★★ 1/2 for both.
The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms (Inheritance Trilogy #1), by N.K. Jemisin
A good fantasy, although I didn't get into it as much as I expected.
Here's My Review
Mr. Mercedes (Bill Hodges #1), by Stephen King
A good thriller, one of Stephen King's better novels.

These are two great kids' non-fiction books about their favourite subjects: dinosaurs and sharks! And full of the facts they love to stun grown-ups with. I included lots of screen shots so you can see what you're getting and what kids are learning. (Be honest - you are learning, too.)The real books come with kits to build skeletons - good fun, I bet.

I would never have survived these times in old Ireland, but I'm glad a lot of my ancestors did. The Good People were anything but good fairies in Hannah Kent's excellent novel.

This 55-year-old "lost American classic" has lost none of its power or relevance and certainly does deserve to be republished. A Different Drummer by William Melvin Kelley takes place in a fictitious US State in the Deep South.

It was good but time was not its friend. I enjoyed it but didn't love it. I remember my first read I couldn't put it down. It is a story where girl gets in trouble, Well she be saved?
I think I have become more a fan of the books where girl gets in trouble and saves herself.
