Thanks Carole, honestly I think I would have been stuck in my grief for much longer if not for you. I was trying to be strong for my family members, and it felt just, heaven sent, to have you there. I never went back to how I was feeling. And I was feeling whew, it was bad.

YESS, I don't usually read YA but I've been reading tons of popular YA lately just so that I'm sure that my book is giving YA readers what they love. My book is not following a trend or anything like that, but I do think it's important to give lovers a genre the thing they love most about that particular genre.

Thanks Alex! The same thing happened to one of my favorite writers; Kresley Cole. She started off writing historical romance and then stumbled into paranormal. Her paranormal series contains of more than 20 bestsellers lol.

So, personally, I'd encourage everyone to try a different genre once in a while. :)

I'm glad I helped, Alexis. You've been a big support to me too!! I have to say, I'm very excited for you. Publishing a book is a lot like a new job, or move, or having a baby!!

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1236 comments I feel for you, Alexis, for the loss - so young - of your cousin and others have said what I too would say.

What comes through most of all to me from what has happened to you is what you said - life is short, particularly when we are busy keeping a lot of balls in the air. We are finite and time rushes on, so let's all focus on leaving something worthwhile for the generations to come.

Alexis | 861 comments I have a huge respect for everyone here who has written a book from start to finish. Especially any foreigners who don't speak English in their daily lives. Godd#mn, this is hard.

But also fun. Very fun.

message 711: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman | 4665 comments Mod
You bet. But it's hard for the English speakers as well. I look at some of my earlier stuff and cringe.

message 712: by Simi (new)

Simi Sunny | 93 comments I'm sorry for your loss, Alexis. That must've hit you so hard. But I think your cousin wpuld want you to keep what you doing best while you're being flexible with your job. Don't give up. Live life to the fullest, people say. :) Anyway, hang in there and that you take care of yourself.

message 713: by Simi (new)

Simi Sunny | 93 comments Hey, guys! Long time no talk. So sorry. Been so occupied in my vacation. So glad there's wifi in the hotel I'm staying. I had a blast in seeing my old relatives and did a little sight seeing (I even stumbled upon the graves of my great grandparents).

Just giving a little update before I go. I'll be coming home in two days, so wish me luck on my flight back to home.

message 714: by Simi (new)

Simi Sunny | 93 comments Thanks, Alex. As much I love to stay a bit longer, I also can't wait to come home to my own bed and all. I just hope I can settle back smoothly.

message 715: by Simi (new)

Simi Sunny | 93 comments Hey, guys! So glad to be back home. Though I'm trying to get used to my surroundings again. Just yesterday, I was feeling a little emotional to come home because it felt strange. Hopefully, it won't take long to adjust. I'll most likely take some me time before I can do something fun.

So what's up, guys?

message 716: by Simi (new)

Simi Sunny | 93 comments Thanks. I'm getting there ;)

message 717: by Anna (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1236 comments Simi says So what's up, guys?

Oh Simi, you don't want to hear about my mini flood, digging up of the concrete floor, having to wait weeks for a new carpet with all the... nope I can't bring myself to give you all the details, it's so boring. Mostly I carried on writing, but today, with the boiler man and carpenters here, I gave up trying. Maybe once we've got straight. I've not let it worry me at all, so don't think I need a hug (although you can give me one anyway!) I just plough through these things, but writing has suffered.

See - boring...

message 718: by Simi (new)

Simi Sunny | 93 comments Aww, I'm sorry, Anna. You're not the only who's house is ruined. My aunt informed me that her basement was ruined when she came back from her trip. Water flooded there because of the tornado.

You will get your house back in order again. Try not to worry so much. I'm sure the insurance company is helping you.

Here's a hug from me to get you through this *hugs you* Hang in there!

message 719: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman | 4665 comments Mod
My heart and hugs go out to all my fellow suffering authors! Mini flood, Anna!!! The light bulb went out over my stove and it took three handymen to figure out it was a starter and not a bulb.

message 720: by Anna (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1236 comments I wonder if you could make a new joke out of that, Carole. You know the sort of thing, "How many handymen does it take...?"

All these labour saving devices that have been invented seem to need a lot of looking after. When there was just one invention, it saved time. Now there are loads of things 'we can't do without' we seem to be running from one to the next to keep all the balls in the air.

The insurance assessor declined it as it was a leak in a pipe under the concrete floor which soaked the concrete which... and so on. I've forgotten all the details now but it sounded right the way he explained it!!!

message 721: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman | 4665 comments Mod
Sometimes it's overwhelming. I dread doing anything in the house because it will balloon and grow becoming real time-consuming projects.

Carole P. Roman | 4665 comments Mod
My house is hitting the quarter century and stuff is just happening!!

message 723: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman | 4665 comments Mod
Agreed!

message 724: by Anna (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1236 comments I can't complain. I had a long run when nothing much went wrong, yes there were time consuming surprises, but nice ones. I knew that this long run of smoothness (sorry couldn't think of a better word and, as you can imagine, I am pushed for time) would/must run out at some time. But, as Alex said, everything has happened all at once. I've spared you all the rest of the stuff! But one of it is emotionally draining, just physically draining. I've resorted to chatting on Goodreads for a rest!

Quarter century, Carole? Ah... same here.

Gothic-Tudor mix. Still, it's charming. Thanks, Alex!

How about everybody loads a picture of something in their neighborhood and share what it is?

Thanks Carole, but it’s a lot more quiet than anything in Miami. Lots of treehouses, boats and a few watermills. I used to jog there but I’ve been lazy lately lol.

Simi Sunny | 93 comments Well, wish me luck, guys. I'm officially getting my wisdom teeth removed tomorrow (one or two, I think). I'm nervous but, at the same time, I need to get through this, or it'll get worse for my teeth. I'll try to get back on as much as I can.

Simi Sunny | 93 comments Well, I thpught I was gonna be loopy and unwell after the procedure, but I'm doing ok as far as I know. And the procedure itself wasn't so bad, what with the help of anesthesia. For now, I need to take some antibiotics and do a follow up. :)

Sam (Rescue Dog Mom, Writer, Hugger) (sammydogs) | 970 comments Hi Everyone, Yesterday was the last day I had to renew my post office box for my jewelry business. Since I'm closing the business, I was lucky he took the information over the phone. At first, he wanted me to go there and fill out a form. I had to explain to him that I'm having neck and back injections and am unable to drive right now. Luckily, he took the info over the phone. After I hung up I shed one tear... only one. I'm going to be okay. I've been concentrating on my writing and posting many articles on Medium. I'm in a lot of pain right now and see the pain specialist again tomorrow. I'll get there... lne step at a time. Hugs to All!

message 747: by Simi (new)

Simi Sunny | 93 comments I feel so crummy since yesterday. My family and I were scarce and anxious because my mom was not feeling so great. She could not stop the headaches and the nausea that my dad had to take her to the ER. There was nothing in the CT scan, but we figured it's Neuralgia because she has tension on her neck, causing her to have headaches lately. So now, she's prescribed to take some meds, along with going to therapy and taking injections. It might not go away, but the doctor said it's the best that he can do. For now, my mom's doing okay, even though it stinks that my mom's suffering from time to time.

message 748: by Simi (new)

Simi Sunny | 93 comments Thanks, Alex. I'm hoping that everything will be alright. :(

Sam (Rescue Dog Mom, Writer, Hugger) (sammydogs) | 970 comments Thank you Alex. Hugs.

Thank you Simi, Hugs. Sorry for your mom. Sounds like we have similar pain and procedures. I'm having headaches and dizziness, too. I'm very uncomfortable and having difficulty walking. Ugh! Good luck with your Mom. Hope she feels better soon. Hugs

Thank you. At least my mom's doing much better now. I hope she keeps progressing, though her job of being a nurse is not making it easier. I just hate how demanding and more difficult it is for her. That was the reason why she has that kind of condition because she keeps lifting heavy patients. Sure, she gets help, but it's not enough, even with that machine they use to carry patients that are overweight.
