I was super excited to finally get this book; we've been waiting for Xcor and Layla's story for so long! And I loved it. The ending was a little corny, but I'm still insanely happy it ended that way. The storyline also seemed a little set-up, but that was generally explainable, too. Thus, this was probably one of my favorite books in the series yet. Now I can't wait to get my hands on the next one; I have a feeling I will be switching over to the Black Dagger Legacy books just to keep me company until the next one comes out.

Review: Matt is dreamy. I'm not a kid person but it must be pretty sexy when a man says sure I'll love you and all your eleventy billion kids in less than a week. Insta love but not the annoying kind. I enjoyed the story and would like to see more of Matt's family.

Review: I'm very happy with this installment. It broke from the pattern, there was no Roarke saving the day/Eve. Eve was a badass dealing with her issues, and Roarke takes NONE of her shit. Peabody is annoying me less and less, especially with McNab in the picture. He's freakin hilarious.

My Review:
This was a neat small-town story. At first I was a little concerned with our hero. He came across as a huge jerk with overly judgmental qualities, but he quickly learned the error of his ways. Emma is a great heroine. She cares for her grieving mother (widowed within the last year) and twin boys from her failed marriage. I liked that she's a hard worker and cares deeply for people in general. I also thought the author did a good job of showing the various stresses single moms deal with when raising children on their own. The suspense wasn't anywhere near what I expected and the ending was too neat and tidy, but it was still a very entertaining read. I'll look for more work by the author.

Review : Medieval romance by Julie Garwood set in England. As with many of her heroines, here also Elizabeth is a good healer. She is strong and brave. The child in this book is her brother who is 7 years old. When we meet him he doesn't speak and he has forgotten his childhood as he had witnessed the massacre of his family. Then there was the grandfather who was funny and witty . Overall it was an enjoyable read.

Review : It was an amazing historical fiction. The author has created a wonderful story around a game called Aadu puli attam. When Semmaari, a goat herd helps a sculptor in winning the game against a stranger, he did not know that the game was part of a ploy by the neighboring kingdom. It is similar to a cat and mouse game where in here it is Aadu(goat) and Puli(Tiger). Semmaari has 16 people with him similar to the 16 goat coins in the game and 3 enemies (tigers) try to kill him and the story is about how he wins against them. Enjoyable.

Interesting concept and an intriguing world, but I think I've read too many Kate Daniels books lately. I kept finding myself comparing the two series, which was sort of a bummer. I think I'll be revisiting this book again sometime down the road when I can put some distance between the two series in my head. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this book and it made me laugh out loud quite a few times, but it was somewhat predictable and I didn't have an urge to read it at every possible opportunity. Still, I'm glad I read it and I'll be continuing the series.

Yeah it definitely departs from most Kate Daniels similarities after the first book. Also Shame comes into the series in book 2 and he's freaking awesome! :)

Quick read with mostly likable characters. Both the MCs annoyed me at times but I enjoyed seeing them break down each other's barriers and start to trust someone else again. The ending felt a little rushed/forced but overall, it was good story. Thank you for the recommendation Poongothai!

Wow, this was one of those books that kept me up well past bedtime to finish reading. Yelena and Valek spend a lot of time apart in this book trying to stop the war between Ixia and Sitia. In being apart they learn to trust each others actions. This was very fast paced and the final twist was flawless. Now to go find some more from this aithor

Title/Link Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor by Lisa Kleypas
Date Read May 9
My Rating: ★★★★
My Review:
I'm a huge fan of Lisa Kleypas's historical romance novels and I was thrilled to finally read one of her contemporary books. This was a delightful read with wonderful characters! The story summary gave the impression that I was in for a serious tear-jerker, but that wasn't the case. While the story is appropriately emotional when necessary, there is humor as life goes on. The story spans the better part of seven months, which allows time for healing as well as character growth and development.
Our leading lady, Maggie, is my favorite character and I loved how she interacts with Mark's niece, Holly. The chemistry between Mark and Maggie has just enough angst in it to make it really interesting. Both of them are dealing with the fallout of tragedies in their lives and question if a romantic relationship would be appropriate. This all makes for a wonderful book that I'll definitely read again in the future!
Another perk that I enjoyed was the relationship between Mark and the other bachelors. The Thanksgiving Day scene was hilarious and I'm eager to read more. I'll be moving on to book two soon!
A big THANK YOU to Stacie for the recommendation! : )
