It's putting my stomach in knots. Yes, it's a treat.

I read the book recently and enjoyed a bit more than you, (I gave it four stars) but I see your point about the two sides of the book. The Langley part primarily seemed to be the trigger for the author's self discovery. Nice review, BTW.

Kathryn Harkup knows her poisons *and* her Agatha Christie! (Christie knew her poisons very well indeed, it turns out.)

That was a major creepshow of a novel! Kind of farfetched, but I just had to let that aspect of it go.

Thank you Ctgt. :) I know I'm a bit in the minority here.
I finished
Ghost Gone Wild by Carolyn G. Hart.In this cozy mystery, 'ghostly emissary' Bailey Ruth Raeburn is sent to Earth to help a young man in trouble. When a murder occurs, she has to clear an innocent man. Fun, humorous story. 3 stars

Nancy I agree it was farfetched. It was so creepy but loved every minute of it.

To be really honest, Mary, I was worried about myself being a sick soul because I found the diary parts fascinating. Over the top, bizarre and weird, but fascinating.

I did too Nancy! I kept thinking I must be crazy is something wrong with me for loving a book like this and the diary was a nasty piece of work but I thought it was fascinating also.

Just finished Assassin by Tom Cain. Fantastic thriller! Page turning suspense and action never lets up for the complete book. I'll do a small review shortly.
Have recently read several of Minnesota author Roger Stelljes' McRyan mysteries. Just finished Fatally Bound

Just finished The Nursing Home Murder by Ngaio Marsh. More like a hospital than a nursing home in the US.
Jan C wrote: "Just finished The Nursing Home Murder by Ngaio Marsh. More like a hospital than a nursing home in the US."If you want to compare practices USA vs UK of the same period,, try Mignon Eberhart's "Sarah Keate RN" series, PATIENT IN ROOM 18, 1928. Midwestern, small town hospital. The entire series is fun, but in several Nurse Keate works as a private nurse, not in a hospital. She wrote five of these in the early 1930s, one in the 1940s, one in the early 1950s. And Mary Roberts Rinehart wrote the Nurse Hilda Adams stories, USA, the "Miss Pinkerton" stories late 1920s, early 1930s, haven't read any yet, not sure if any hospital settings..
Jan C wrote: "Just finished The Nursing Home Murder by Ngaio Marsh. More like a hospital than a nursing home in the US."I enjoyed this one.
I was recently in the mood for the comfort and distraction of a cozy, so I read Miss Julia Inherits a Mess and Miss Julia Weathers the Storm by Ann B. Ross. Absolutely did the trick! Perfect summer reading and a great change of pace from grittier mysteries and thrillers. Talk about the guilty pleasure of lots and lots of ice cream!
Pebbles wrote: "I've just started The Gods of Gotham. I've wanted to try Lindsay Faye for a while now and I'm also drawn to historical New York City. Looks like it will be good..."I have that on my shelf.

I hope all of you reading The Gods of Gotham enjoy it as much as I did. It's full of really authentic period detail and the action never stops.
The End of the Day by Claire North continues to echo in my mind, day after day. I rated this book 10-stars. I've never done that before. I've never read a book like this before. Her previous books were BY Clair North.... This book IS Claire North.
It IS her, it is who she is, her deepest heart laid bare as a gift to us.
My Review
I finished The Dark Net: Inside the Digital Underworld
by Jamie BartlettThis non-fiction book provides an overview of non-mainstream internet sites, including thing like: online supermarkets for drugs; child porn; white supremacists; cam-models (people who 'perform' online); etc. Interesting, but not as 'secret' as I expected. 3 stars.

I have finished reading Justice for Jessica by Alretha Thomas. You can read my review at http://world-of-sleuths.blogspot.com/....I am still reading Red Rabbit by Tom Clancy and A Crimson Set of Silver by Alan Meyers Starkey.
I am on a Tess Gerritsen binge. I just finished The Silent Girl My review, 4.5/5https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished The Marsh King's Daughter
by Karen DionneThis book is very popular right now and lots of readers love it.
It's about Helena - a girl who was born to a kidnap victim 'imprisoned' in the marshes of upper Michigan for well over a decade. After Helena is grown, her dad escapes from prison and she feels compelled to track him down. For me, the book is just okay. 3 stars

I love that series of books. Best read in order, though because each builds on the one before it.

I just finished "The Girl In Kellers Way". Blew me out of the water. Best thriller of 2017 and best psychological thriller since Girl on the Train. I also read The Dry which was good but this was in a class of it's own. The Girl in Kellers Way
