I love Dard and haven't read this one. I hope it's a treat.

It's putting my stomach in knots. Yes, it's a treat.

I read the book recently and enjoyed a bit more than you, (I gave it four stars) but I see your point about the two sides of the book. The Langley part primarily seemed to be the trigger for the author's self discovery. Nice review, BTW.

Oh, good one!"
Kathryn Harkup knows her poisons *and* her Agatha Christie! (Christie knew her poisons very well indeed, it turns out.)

Finished. Yikes. You definitely have something to look forward to with this one.

That was a major creepshow of a novel! Kind of farfetched, but I just had to let that aspect of it go.

Thank you Ctgt. :) I know I'm a bit in the minority here.

In this cozy mystery, 'ghostly emissary' Bailey Ruth Raeburn is sent to Earth to help a young man in trouble. When a murder occurs, she has to clear an innocent man. Fun, humorous story. 3 stars

Nancy I agree it was farfetched. It was so creepy but loved every minute of it.

To be really honest, Mary, I was worried about myself being a sick soul because I found the diary parts fascinating. Over the top, bizarre and weird, but fascinating.

I did too Nancy! I kept thinking I must be crazy is something wrong with me for loving a book like this and the diary was a nasty piece of work but I thought it was fascinating also.

If you want to compare practices USA vs UK of the same period,, try Mignon Eberhart's "Sarah Keate RN" series, PATIENT IN ROOM 18, 1928. Midwestern, small town hospital. The entire series is fun, but in several Nurse Keate works as a private nurse, not in a hospital. She wrote five of these in the early 1930s, one in the 1940s, one in the early 1950s. And Mary Roberts Rinehart wrote the Nurse Hilda Adams stories, USA, the "Miss Pinkerton" stories late 1920s, early 1930s, haven't read any yet, not sure if any hospital settings..

I enjoyed this one.

I have that on my shelf.

I enjoyed it.

Her previous books were BY Clair North.... This book IS Claire North.
It IS her, it is who she is, her deepest heart laid bare as a gift to us.
My Review

This non-fiction book provides an overview of non-mainstream internet sites, including thing like: online supermarkets for drugs; child porn; white supremacists; cam-models (people who 'perform' online); etc. Interesting, but not as 'secret' as I expected. 3 stars.

I am still reading Red Rabbit by Tom Clancy and A Crimson Set of Silver by Alan Meyers Starkey.

This book is very popular right now and lots of readers love it.
It's about Helena - a girl who was born to a kidnap victim 'imprisoned' in the marshes of upper Michigan for well over a decade. After Helena is grown, her dad escapes from prison and she feels compelled to track him down. For me, the book is just okay. 3 stars

I love that series of books. Best read in order, though because each builds on the one before it.
