R14: Team #22 ~ Read Til You Drop

Lol, I'm definitely bringing a fully charged Kindle to the hospital with me. My second son refused to sleep his first night in the hospital unless I was holding him, which led to a very sleepless night for me. Having a book to read instead of watching middle of the night tv would be nice! :)

I'm going to try and savor it as much as I can this time around because barring any surprises, this will be our last one!

I can't tell you how many times we said this in our house. Meanwhile, six kids later . . . :)

ETA: Waiting on 2 challenges that get calls on Friday. :)"
Last week I used one book for all my main team challenges. This week my challenges are NOT playing well together. I'm still not sure what I'll read. :)

That does sound like us, considering after Baby #1, we were pretty convinced he was going to be an only child lol.

Review: What can I say about this one? I picked up the first in the series for free on Amazon and read it only for Title Relay during Wobble. And only because someone else didn't get all their books read in time. There was much rolling of eyes while I read it. Mine, and the girls in the book. But then my 14 year old read it. And wanted more. So I reluctantly bought her a few more, and put them on my TBR. Because I need to know what she's reading. So I've read them as they become necessary for challenges. The storyline is still totally over the top. But the writing is definitely improving. Although I do resent authors that resort to cliff-hangers to keep readers coming back *side-eyes Morganville Vampires*. The previous books did not end in a cliff hanger, but this one certainly did.

We are at the airport in Rome right now and should be home by tonight. (Cross finger with delays).
I'm going to get a review done today for my last book The Gender Game. Hopefully I can do it from my iPhone.

Even though this was a reread, I really didn't remember much about what happened in this one, so it was like reading it for the first time. This was a really fast-paced read, and I enjoyed it immensely. As usual, my main problem is that I still don't really get/feel the chemistry between Charley and Reyes, although I will say that by the end of the book, I was liking him a bit more than I did in the first book. The chemistry still feels forced though, and that's what keeps this from being 5 stars for me. Other than that, I really enjoyed this read and am looking forward to the next one!

This book left me feeling full of sweet, happy feelings. It's a cute love story about a real jerk of a guy who has never had a serious relationship and the girl who knocks him on his behind. A little bit of an overused plot~ bad boy meets great girl and finally falls in love... but I enjoyed the comedic overtones throughout the book which was written from a males perspective.
I'm not sure how this works in a series, no cliffhanger here. You could stop at this book and feel fulfilled but I have a feeling #2 & 3 would be worth the read!

The Gender game
★★★☆☆
Fun, short read. But I wasn't so drawn in that I would venture further in the series. I liked the premise of their being 2 "cities" ; one run by men and the other run by women. It had some real potential but seemed to get dragged out a bit towards the end. A bit of a love story intertwined in a survival story.
Not really like Hunger Games in that there was not a "game", but a challenge was given to the main character in order to save her life and the lives of her Matriarch.
Just kind of fair for me

Good Job!! :D

Not sure if we've used that one before, but just had a look and it says 7,439 books, though looking at the first couple of pages, I've read quite a few of them.

As a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, this book was right up my alley. However, this would be titled Cas the Ghost Slayer. And not "Ghost Busters", as Cas would say ;)
This was a nice paranormal love story about a boy who moves around and kills ghosts. This time around is a bit different as he actually makes friends with a few local kids. When he is led to the ghost he is seeking, she too is a bit different. She doesn't try to kill him. So Cas and his friends investigate into this Ghost's death and find that things aren't always as they seem.
I enjoyed getting to know Cas and his friends, as well as learning a few things about killing ghosts and witches spells. Very cute, not sure I would let my tween read it as there are a few F-bombs thrown around. More for the late teen years. (or adults , lol)
I'd recommend for any fan of the paranormal romance. And other than the F-bombs, this was a sex-free book.

I just wanted to let you all know I most likely won't have my book done before the next shelf call, as I just had a baby at 5am this morning. :-)
I'm about 60 percent through it, so I'm sure I'll have it done this week, just not before the next shelf call.
Baby and I are doing well. My mom will be bringing his brothers by this afternoon so they can meet him.

Good Job!! :D

I should have my kickass hero book done today, but probably not by the time the new shelf is called.

Reading has been slow going this week. I was hoping to have last week's book done by tomorrow, but now my 15 month old is home sick with pink eye and an ear infection. So I'm trying to keep him and our newborn separate and also sanitize the whole house lol. I'm hoping to be all caught up by next shelf call.

Well, hopefully he makes his appearance on a Thursday or Friday, so you have time to pick a book for whichever call we're at. Then when the nurses wake you up to take your blood pressure right after you fall asleep, you have something to read. :)
