Hiya, Team Caps! Thanks for volunteering to guide your team through a round of BookShelf Bingo! Your job, should you choose to accept it, will require a few things:
1 ~ Be our go-to person should we have any questions about your team
2 ~ Organize your teammate's weekly reads for each shelf/category so that the BSB Ninjas can quickly and easily verify and approve your stamp request(s)
2a ~ Create a master list in a post (preferably on the first page of your team's thread) and update it weekly or as often as necessary
3 ~ Encourage and motivate your team (you may also ask to borrow Judithe's whip whenever necessary)
4 ~ Post regularly to ensure your team is communicating and on track each week
4a ~ Send them a PM and friendly poke if they haven't posted at least once a week, noted their book choice, and/or appear to have dropped out of webspace
5 ~ Send us a PM (Steph, Sandra or Judithe) should you need us for any reason throughout the game
Hi, everybody! I was so excited to see sign ups come around for Bingo! I absolutely love this challenge. I had a hard time keeping up with my reading this past year, so I'm hoping this will help me kick off 2017 the right way!A little about me, I'm 34 and live in Illinois. I have two boys, ages 2 and 1, and am now pregnant with baby number 3, which means I will have three kids under three in the spring. Life will certainly not be boring lol.
I have been captain before, but I would prefer not to do it this time around.
Looking forward to getting started!
Hi! I'm so excited for this to start!I'm a homeschooling mom of 6 girls. We also have 16 chickens and 6 cats, so we keep pretty busy!
Steph Ann, my first turned 3 one month before my 3rd was born, so I totally get how busy your life is. In fact, she turned 9 about 3 weeks after #6 was born!
@Laura, I'm definitely nervous about the whole three under three thing! We managed to adapt to the craziness of 2 under 2 though, so I'm sure we'll figure it out! This one's another boy, so I'm sure the three of them will keep me on my toes!

I've heard that adjusting to three is easier! That would be great because adjusting to two was rough lol.
This is my second time playing. I don't think I've played anything with any of you, before. I'm happy to make new bookish friends! :)
AH! Finally got here.... sorry all, been out of town for 2 weeks. This is my first time playing and I've got to catch up on the rules. I'm excited to get to know you all and will be sending friend requests (don't feel pressured to add if it's not your thing :) )
I'm a bit older than y'all at 47, but still try to feel young with my reads ;0) I live in Texas with my family, we have 3 Boys... twins who are 15 and our baby at 13 years old. So Steph Ann I can sympathize your 3 under 3. It is well worth it for those later years ;)
I've been Captain in a Wobble group, but that sort of fell in my lap. I'd prefer not to captain this one, as I've never played before.
I like the Read 'Til You Drop name , lol!!!
more later, as my laundry is overflowing...
I like Read Til You Drop. The others may be younglings, but I crossed the threshold into my 40s a few years ago. :)
I prefer not to be Captain. I'm running some challenges in another group and still recovering from being a Wobble captain. :)
Vilda wrote: "Yay, welcome Trinia! And age so doesn't matter in our love for reading :D (I can totally sympathize on the overflowing laundry, I also just got home from a long trip!)Unless Laura feels like bein..."
Thanks Vilda!
Looks like we have a great team here :0)
Can't wait to start... Anything we can do for preparation???
It looks like we have a lot of choices from shelves... can it be any of their shelves? Seems easy enough ;)
Yes, any shelf on the group bookshelf is good, I think there's over 4000 books there to pick from. Just make sure its 200 pages or over.
Thanks Sandra! And thanks for the page listing, other challenges allow 100+. I like the higher minimum... keeps it more even :)
Haha I like em lower, but we try and make it fairer with the 200. Especially towards the end when sometimes its a race to the end.

I love that series!
I'm not sure what I'll read for the free space. I read a lot of Paranormal & UF, so I shouldn't have a problem finding something on the shelves. But if I pick a book now, I'll never be able to wait 2 weeks to start reading it! :)
I like the Read Til You Drop name as well!I'll figure out my Free Space book this week! I think I know what it's going to be, but it's also possible I'll give in and read it sooner rather than later lol.
I know what I'll read for my free space. Another group I'm in is reading A Hunger Like No Other starting Jan. 21. That's on the PNR series list in the group here, 7th on the list.
I'm still looking at my free space choices. Waiting to pick one, to see if I can use it for another challenge as well. If not, no problem ;)
Provided I can get it from the library and keep myself from reading it beforehand, I'm going to go with
for my Free Space read. :) It's on the group bookshelf.
Laura wrote: "You could always read it now and read the next one for your free space book. :)"That thought had crossed my mind lol. When I go to the library this weekend, I'm going to see if they have the third book as well, and if they do, I'm just going to check them both out. :)
1 week!!!Eta: Never mind. I think I got confused by this in the Bingo Rules thread: (2) The stamped shelves result in "5 in a row" (horizontal, vertical or diagonal) -OR- match the round's specific winning pattern. But from reading other threads it looks like we're doing an airplane pattern this time around, rather than a 5-in-a-row.
One more day! I promise to have my free space book chosen tomorrow , trying to time it with another challenge ;)Can't wait to get started team!
So ready! just finished my last read :/ hurry up time! lol...So, just to make sure I'm understanding the rules correctly. They will call a spot say "I-2", then we each pick a book on the "kick-ass Hero" shelf? In addition to our free space book. Then, We get the stamp once we have all finished reading, rating and reviewing our book(s).
Will we each request our stamps or does our lovely Captain Vilda request each stamp?
Vilda wrote: "They usually just post the shelf for the week with a direct link so it's easy to find! Then we can see where it is on our Bingo Card. :)And yes, that's how we all get the stamp! I made a main pos..."
Great! thanks ;D
I think I'm going to go with
for the hunters shelf. So I'll start with my free space book, and then just continue to roll on through the series lol.
I've picked
for the Hunter's Shelf. For my Free Space Book I'll read
by Neil Gaiman ; it's on the SOS: BEST OF: Stand Alone Novels List.
I've just requested
from my library. If it takes awhile to come in I'll switch and read
, which I already have checked out. And I'll start my Free Space book on Sunday. Our group read starts then.
Vilda wrote: "Oh, I'm looking forward to see what you think about The Graveyard Book, Trinia! Good plan, Laura! Two series I have yet to read :)"
I've got the audiobook version, so I'm excited to see what all the rave is about too!
@Steph Ann - I've had that series on my to read list for a while now! Can't wait to hear what you think about it ;)

Review:
I listened and read this book.
This book has gotten some negative feedback in the reviews, most of which I can agree with. Typical heroine story... Poor, beautiful orphaned girl seeks revenge for being wronged by her evil Aunt. She finds she has magical powers and trains for many years. She meets a young handsome man... blah blah blah...
Yes, I know, we've heard it all before. But if you can put aside the typical (because isn't every romance the same story) and push through, I think you'll find a very exciting ending.
Lorelai is a great heroine, likable in every way. Character development was good, the story flowed along fairly quickly. Overall a good story. I would recommend to those fantasy genre lovers.
Vilda wrote: "Ohh, that was fast and I'm glad to see you liked it! You just need to post it here as well for it to count, Trinia. ^^ Just to get an idea, the completion posts often look something like:

Great! Edited above...How do you make stars? I'm still a newbie when it comes to those cute tricks ;)
I always copy and paste too lol.Glad to see you liked it, Trinia! I'll have to add it to my to read list! :)
I should have my Free Space book done tonight. One bad thing about working from home (I'm a transcriptionist), the book is sitting here on the couch next to me, and it's really making me want to stop working and just take the rest of the day off lol.

Man, this series is addicting! It has been a long time since I have felt so immersed in a world an author has created. All of the side characters are amazing. I never mind jumping to a different character's point of view rather than sticking with Meg or Simon. Each book seems to give me that feeling of "I must keep reading" while also making me want to take my time so that I can savor everything.
I definitely loved the main plot of this one, which focused on trying to find The Controller and put an end to the basic slavery of the cassandra sangue. Really, the only reason this doesn't get a full five stars from me is it felt like the book started off a bit slower than the first one. Honestly though, I still enjoyed every minute of it and am already rushing through Book Three!
