Mara was relaxing in the common room for a while and ended up dozing off. It was totally an accident, but she was so bored that her mind had just shut down apparently. She snored lightly because of her awkward sitting position, but luckily the place wasn't crowded at the moment.
Jared had just came from his dad's house and entered the room. After driving for three hours and then back, which in total was six hours, he was tired and just wanted to rest. A smirk formed on his lips when he saw Mara sleeping in a couch. Sitting down next to her, he nudged her with his elbow. "You awake, sleepy head?"he asked.

((Remember the school is on a different world ;))
Mara jumped and and reached for her gun that wasn't there. Once she saw it was Jared, she glared at him and relaxed again. "You shouldn't wake a person up like that, you know. I could have killed you."

She had only just arrived, and felt very exposed. Vulnerable. This place was so much different from her home, and that fact became more and more obvious by the minute. Her luggage had already been sent to her rooms, which was the only luxury afforded her as of yet. The princess, Isla Regalia, whom in her homeland was practically one estranged, had never felt so alone. Everything familiar was gone. Even her own skin felt strange.
Alone, she had found her way up to the common room of her new house and only because she'd had signs to guide her. There she stood awkwardly, not sure where to go from there. In the office, they had explained where she was to go, but in her nervousness she had forgotten all of it. They had even told her where to go if she needed help, but she couldn't remember. The map she'd been given was useless inside, so she was utterly lost. All she could think of to do was turn and go back to the office to ask for help.
Isla took a breath and sighed before starting to turn back. Unfortunately, she hadn't realized that there had been someone right behind her. "Oh, my apologies," she said quickly, bowing her head in an offering of remorse just as she had always been taught.
The victim of her hasty act simply started to chuckle in a soft tone. "No worries, I'm not bleeding," a male voice replied. "You seem lost, do you need help?" Before she could reply, a second later he added, almost awkwardly, "You're new, right?"
Isla gently cleared her throat, but didn't lift her head. Usually when she was the slightest bit clumsy is when someone cursed at her, and she still expected it to come. "Yes, I just got here. And I admittedly don't know where I'm going anymore. They said my...dorm room was here?"
"Ah, so you're a Marauder too," he said, the smile evident in his voice. "Well I can help you, but um...you might need to look up. Please? I don't bite. Well, I don't bite people."
Before she could stop it, a soft laugh escaped her. She'd never heard anything like that before. She was still hesitant, but she finally looked up and noticed that he looked familiar, though perhaps it was a vague familiarity. She found herself examining his features in attempt to place it, but then realized she was staring, blushed lightly, and turned away politely in apology.
He ran his fingers through his black hair, shaking it out a little out of habit. Already he was interested in her. Firstly, she was beautiful and he wouldn't have realized if she hadn't raised her head. Secondly, there was just....something about her that drew him in. "Now, this isn't going to work if you keep looking away," he said, lightly teasing. "Would it help if I introduced myself? I'm Caden Henry. Or just Caden, if you'd like." He held his hand out for a shake, deliberately in her range of vision.
That did it for her, and she was finally able to place it. "Not Novalian, are you?" she asked anyway, to make sure. The name alone wasn't all she was going off of, but also his appearance. Yet she still had her doubts that out of this whole school, she found one thing from home. Even if they'd never formally met back on their world, it made a difference.
"You know my family," he said, not as a question, but an observation. Now that it was brought to mind, he could tell. Her violet eyes, how she held herself, and well...her wardrobe choice. But he felt slightly guilty that he didn't know who she was.
"Yes, um..." She winced at her loss of words. Grandfather always told her it was a sign of weakness, but it was unavoidable at the moment. How was she supposed to tell him that she came from a family on the brink of war with his kingdom ever since his own grandfather had been removed from power. Out with it already she chastised herself. "My name is Isla Regalia of Eparese."
To her surprise, it didn't seem to bother him at all. "Well Isla, shall we get to finding your dorm?" Caden asked politely and offered his arm to take. "It's a little tricky, but not really. Once we find it, you'll never get lost again."
Isla blinked as she looked up at him again. Carefully, she took his arm. It would be rude to refuse, after all. "Thank you," she said softly, allowing a small smile to slip out.
"My pleasure," Caden said, practically beaming with pride for having gotten her to smile. Then, without further ado, he led her down the girl's side of the hallway in attempt to find her dorm.

((Lol okay and woah that big post XD))Jared rolled his eyes and leant aback. "I didn't shake you or threw a bucket full of water at you. Don't be so dramatic."he said, chuckling and then smirked, looking at her. She was just so cute when she was angry!

Mara glared still. "I come from a world where instinct keeps you alive. If I had my gun on me, you'd be dead," she told him and then rolled her eyes. "Anyway, what do you want?"

((Welcome!))Jared sighed. "Just relax."he said and patted her shoulder. When he asked what she wanted, he grinned and leaned close. "Hmm...maybe...just maybe...a date?"he asked, going straight to the subject.

"No," she answered right away and crossed her arms. "Why would we?" Honestly she thought they were just friends. The two of them were not fit for each other in her book, or maybe she just wanted it to be that way.

After their dinner together, Caden and Isla went back to their common room to hang out there a little while longer before they would part for the night.
Caden looked over at Isla, thinking about how beautiful she looked tonight. "So, I have some news..."

He said as they settled down in some seats near the big window. It helped him resist the urge to put his hands in his pockets.

Isla's eyes darted over to him, but she tried very hard not to show the alarm she felt. News never seemed to sound like a good thing. "News?" she asked, sitting down beside him and scooping her skirt so it would lay properly.
"It's not a bad thing, at least I hope you won't think so," he said, looking into her eyes.
"My parents have come to visit."

"Oh," she said quieter, since now she understood why he'd brought it up. The very idea was terrifying and she didn't understand why, but she didn't understand why she did a lot of things. "Well...if you'd like me to." She hadn't expected it to come so soon, but time made no difference, did it?
"I would," he nodded. "But only if you're okay with it. I wouldn't want to make you feel like you have to do something you don't want to," He told her.
He thought about what his mom had said and rubbing his arm nervously. Where was the collected prince now?

Isla thought about it for a long moment, unsure. It was scary, but hiding wouldn't fix a thing. "It was sooner than I expected, but...there's no reason not to," she said carefully. No real reason, anyway. Nerves weren't a good excuse.
"There's another thing... also one you shouldn't worry about," he added quickly. "My sister has my mother under the impression that we are more than friends."

"Oh," she said again, her cheeks turning light pink at the thought. "Why would she do that?" She asked, more to herself. Briella always seemed to be doing things like that and she didn't understand. Sure she liked Caden, but in her mind they were still practically strangers. And anyway there were many reasons a relationship between them could not or should not happen.
"Because she's my sister," Caden said, rolling his eyes. "But I'm curious what you think we are, so I can set her straight, of course."

Isla wasn't sure how to answer right away because the question still seemed odd to her. The way he phrased it seemed like maybe he thought they were something more. "I think we're friends," she answered carefully. "I don't think we're anything more. We haven't known each other very long."
Caden was silent for a moment before he nodded. "Well put, I agree. Briella has a way of pushing things to happen the way she wants them to."

Isla nodded her agreement. "I'm sure that's it. You would know better than I." She was quiet for a moment after, considering the idea. Caden and Briella didn't seem to care what family she came from, but she knew lots of people did- including their mother. Even if they were something more, she wasn't sure that was a possibility. That idea made her heart sink a little more at the idea of meeting that woman and being looked down on with contempt. She didn't think she could handle it, but she really wouldn't know until she tried. If there was one thing her grandfather taught her, it was not to hide even if you knew someone disliked or hated you.
He watched her, regretting asking since he knew that he didn't have any right to assume that she'd just be his girlfriend without a second thought.
"You're overthinking it, aren't you? Meeting my parents? I assure you that it will be civil, if not pleasant. Which I'm hoping is the latter."

She sighed softly and glanced over at him. "Maybe I'm wrong. You know me better than I thought." She sighed again and played with some of the lace on her skirt as she thought. "Yes, I'm overthinking it. I don't see how I can stop either. Not until it actually happens. Which is why I'm not saying I won't go."
He put his hand on her arm lightly. "It'll be fine. Plus, You'll get to meet my little sister. She's changed a lot since I last saw her but she's still exactly as I remember. It's funny."

She offered a smile which was slightly more relaxed than she felt, which said a lot. "I'll look forward to meeting her then. I'm sure she's wonderful."

"It's based off a gothic poem, I think," she said, remembering how the poem was in the beginning of the book. "The poem was interesting, though dark. The book is the same, but the excitement part is sort of dull. The story is interesting, but really was summed up in the poem in the first place."

"I thought I might come up with a fun way to really introduce my little sister to the school," he said thoughtfully. "Maybe try incorporating something we used to do as kids. I contemplated a bonfire with s'mores but that was more of a Briella thing. That was before we moved to castle and Acadya wasn't even born yet. I don't think she'd dislike it though."

Isla thought about it for a moment. She assumed it would just be him and his siblings, so she still felt like she would be imposing, but at least it would be small. "Then maybe. It would be fun."
