"Last night," Isla answered, wondering why she seemed so excited. She hesitated on giving more details, not wanting to fuel Briella's later teasing.

Acadya looked over at her sister with an implying waggle of her eyebrows. "So that's why he didn't make it to dinner last night," she said simply.
"I'm glad you'll be able to come tonight. I'm sure that you and I will get along just fine."

Briella laughed a little, keeping it quiet so that Isla wouldn't glare at her, which had happened on occasions such as this.
But Isla only rolled her eyes, a pleasant smile still on her face since she couldn't simply act as she felt, especially since she wasn't sure how to feel about the whole thing. "I agree, I'm sure we'll get along wonderfully."

"Were you headed somewhere?" Acadya asked her. "I should have asked that to start with. I hope we're not keeping you."

"Oh, no I was just on my way to the library. It isn't pressing at all," Isla said, not wanting them to think she was in a rush or anything. She was just a little bored, so reading or studying seemed preferable.

"Ooh, the library. Briella tells me that it's massive!" Acadya said.

"It is," Isla answered, smiling. "Have you not gotten to see it yet?"

"It was next on our list of stops," Briella answered. Well it hadnt been directly next, but close.

"I love libraries," Acadya told her. "But I've never been very good at staying quiet in them. There's just so much to see."

"Then you will likely have very much trouble staying quiet in this library. It's incredibly beautiful," Isla explained. "And massive, as you say, so there is much to see."

"That was a problem at the palace library. We weren't allowed to do lessons in there anymore," Acadya told her. The talking hadn't been the actual problem, it was the snoring.

"Oh really? That sounds awful," Isla said. She had been banned from the palace library in her home, but the banishment had been because she would often escape there instead of "doing what she was told" which mostly consisted of spending her supposed free time in a manner her grandfather expected of her.

Acadya shrugged. "I enjoyed being outdoors more."

"Well if your gardens are as wonderful as I've heard they are, I can't blame you," Isla commented, recalling how Briella and Caden both had been telling her while they explored the school's garden.

"My dad really liked the maze gardens from the original school," Acadya commented. Not to mention that the garden allowed them the privacy to change. "I don't know if they're anything like they used to be here."

"Oh I wouldn't know," Isla said and looked to Briella as if she would know.

Briella shook her head. "There isn't a maze, as far as I can tell, but as for the rest of the garden I'm not sure if it's the same. Likely different to an extent, but I don't know how much."

"We'll have to take dad to the garden before they leave," Acadya said.

"Definitely," Briella agreed. "Do you want to save that part of your tour for him?"

"It's part of the tour?" Acadya asked her, not knowing that. "We should save it for when he's here." She nodded.

"Of course. It's part of the school," Briella said but nodded. "We can save it for later then. It's not really on the way to anything."

"Are the tall trees part of it?" Acadya asked.

"No the trees are the forest," Briella answered. "But that part isn't on my tour."

"Is it part of the school?" Acadya asked her.

"Half and half," Briella answered. "Half is on the school grounds, magic, sacred, the other half is outside and I don't know much about it honestly."

"Are we allowed to go into the forest?" She continued.

"Yes, but it's off limits after dark," Briella said. The restriction hadn't always been in place, but in light of recent events it had been.

"For everyone?" Acadya asked. She assumed some students were creatures that needed to roam at night but maybe there was freedom to do it all the time.

"As far as I know," Briella answered, which meant a lot. "That doesn't mean that there aren't students who have special permissions, but I wouldn't think so with how much everyone's worried.

"Worried about the party thing?" Acadya asked, still not sure it was really as serious as everyone made it seem.

Briella nodded. "It's really caused quite a buzz, and a lot of alarm. There isn't really any guess of what it was though."

"So it could have been nothing but a joke and they aren't sure?" Acadya said, not knowing she had the same notion as a lot of the teachers had when it first happened.

"Well...they're fairly sure it was more than a joke because this is not the first time weird and bad things have been happening. Just...not to that magnitude," Briella said, trying to explain.

"Do they think there will be another attack? like when mom was here?" Acadya asked. she knew lots of people had died.

"I think that they're trying to prevent anything like that from happening again. Even if it was a prank, it wasn't very funny, and they'd rather err on the side of caution, I think," Briella said. "It really gets annoying with the restrictions, and now that we all have to get physicals but it's not the worst thing in the world."

"We have to get physicals because of what happened?" Acadya said, confused at how it was related.

"I'm not sure if it's related, but it seems awfully odd timing to be unrelated," Briella said, since she'd spent a little time thinking about it. "But maybe it is."

"Physicals aren't required here?" Acadya asked. "What if someone is sick or has something wrong that could infect everyone?"

"I think they were supposed to be, but with what happened when we all moved to the school, it was far from priority," Briella explained. "With a few exceptions, like the people who came from radioactive zones."

"Wait, what happened when you moved in?" Acadya asked, offended that they had left out anything from their minimal letters to her.

"Robots attacked, to put it simply," Briella explained. "There was a hole in the magical barrier and it had to be refortified and everything. There were some vampires too."

Acadya shook her head. It all sounded like one of her dad's stories. But she knew them to be true.
"Did students help?"

Briella nodded. "We did help. And I will tell you, biting into a robot arm is not nice on the teeth," she said with a light laugh before remembering Isla was there. The other girl gave her an odd look, but didn't question because it was clearly something she hadn't been meant to hear.

Acadya raised her eyebrows. Wasn't this school open to their powers. Maybe Isla didn't know yet.

"That's one way to put it," Acadya said with a small laugh.
She was getting restless again. "When did you say classes start again?"

"Should be next week," Briella answered, "Since there's a small wave of new students coming in, as you know."

She nodded. "Then I should have enough time to learn the basics. Where IS the library?"

"Top floor of the school," Isla chimed in, since it was the only location she'd memorized. "Only topped by the rooftop garden."

Acadya smiled at her. "Are the secret corridors real? Or only in the old school?"

"There are a few, designed into the building by our uncle," Briella explained. "I'm sure there aren't as many or as secretive as in the old school, but there are some."

"That's sorta cool. But not very secret. It is like a safety thing or something?"

"No, there are some safety escapes, but I asked him that same question about the secret corridors and he said he put some in. They were hidden, but quite a few of them have been found," Briella explained and shrugged. "I guess he's just not as good at hidden tunnels as he is with everything else design wise."

Acadya wondered what her Uncle would be like. She was certain they weren't talking about Bart. "Good to know," she said simply. "The regular way is fine then."
