Ching shrugged. 'I think it was smart to hide me. Keep me safe. The last time an AVatar disappeared the world was plunged into a war that lasted a whole century."

"Well they disappeared. So they were either really old or the next Avatar came..."

"WHat happened was the AVatar was frozen in ice for a hundred years. He emerged, learned to control the four elements and defeated the man whose ancestor was responsible for the war. At least,t hat's what I've been told by historical records."

"I dont know. I've lived there a very long time and I wasn't allowed to leave."

"Invitation. I took the opportunity to see if I could teach myself waterbending, but I think you know how that's going!" She forced an awkward laugh.

He nodded. "So you were allowed to come here?"

She nodded back. "Everyone suggested I should. Not like many waterbenders could dedicate time to training."

"Well, it is still possible that someone here will be able to help. They don't invite people for no reason," he said.

"i know. I hope to be able to find a teacher but as i said before, i have to be ready to adapt."

"I'm bored," he said. And it wouldn't hurt to see Alia again.

"People go and spend their money on stuff to get rid of boredom? That sounds..." Ching paused, trying to think of a nice way of putting it. "Incredibly dull. You don't use magic for fun?"

"It's the experience, Ching. And no. Magic isn't supposed to be used for fun. My sister would argue differently," he said.

"Then what is it SUPPOSED to be used for?"

"There are many uses," he said. "To many to explain. But it's mostly to help complete tasks."

"Depending on who you ask, you'll get different answers for why we have bending. SOme people use it in their professions. Others for sport. We have all sorts of fighting or skill competitions with bending. ANd of course, there are benders in the militaries of the different nations." She sighed, as if that were not a good thing. WHich obviously it wasn't.

He nodded. "Exactly like that. Though not really in fighting, I don't think. There are wizard duels but they aren't really for sport. Actually, there's a rule against them for sport."

"Most fighting with bending is done for sport. There are professional teams and everything. But there are also ancient customs in which two people would face each other in a fight using their bending." SHe was, of course, referring to Agni Kais. She didn't know if they were still done, but she knew Fire Lord Zuko was in at least three.

"That sounds really interesting. I wish I could see something like that," he told her. "A bending sport, at least."

"If Korra were around she could show you. SHe used to be part of an official pro-bending team! Unfortunately, I don't know anything about them. Aside from them being a thing." SHe laughed awkwardly at her joke.

He chuckled too, even if it wasn't so funny. "Well, what are we waiting for?" he said.

Ching picked up her pouch and tied it around her waist. "NOw i'm good!" She gave a thumbs up.

Jackson smiled. "Now we have to check the other houses for Alia's dorm. Hopefully she's there."

"Well, Yeah. You said you knew nothing about fashion. And I'm a guy," Jackson said.

Ching's expression turned to one of utter confusion. 'Aaand what does that have to do with this?"

He took a breath and let it out slowly. "Think back to when I first offered to take you shopping. I told you that Alia could help because you said you knew nothing about fashion or shopping. Which is why we're getting her. Remember?"
