"Great," he said, checking the time. "I have to go to the office in the morning."

"What for?" she asked out of curiosity. She didn't think he would need a permit or anything, would he?

"It's been awhile since I checked in with my Aunt. And I need to see what clubs are still open to sign up for," Caden told her.

"Do clubs fill up?" Isla asked. She had been looking at a few, but she would have been more urgent about it had she known they could get full. That or just give up.

"I'm not sure. I know that it's required to join at least one for study hall. I do know that if they don't get enough people interested, they don't become a club though," he said.

"Oh, I see," she said, since that made sense to her. She wasn't sure what study hall mattered, but the club requirements made more sense since they wouldn't want lots of clubs of only one person.

"If you haven't had it yet, we go over all the typical core classes in study hall. Like math, reading, and literature. Mostly in workbooks. Probably because it's a survival school." Caden felt like he might be over explaining something she already knew.

"I wondered why there were no normal classes," Isla admitted. She hadn't minded because she had studied that sort of thing already, however. "But no, I don't think I've had it yet."

"A lot more people are accepted now but I think when my parents arrived a lot more people were running from something. Lots of students here now are in that situation"

"Everyone is running from something," she replied knowingly. "It's just a matter of how life threatening it is. Either way it's good to have core classes offered for those who aren't as versed in them."

He thought about her statement and wondered what she was running from.

"I'm sorry, you wanted go get going, didn't you?" she asked. She thought she remembered them saying goodbye and then they continued talking. Not that she wanted him to go, but she did feel slightly embarrassed for having said anything extra.

He shook the thought away and nodded. "Yeah, right. Okay, See you tomorrow?"

She smiled softly, even though she was sort of terrified. "Yes, tomorrow. You can give me the time later, if it's easier."

"Plan for just before lunch," he said with his genuine smile.

"Okay, I will," she said, smiling a little more because his smile put her a bit more at ease. "Goodnight."

"Good Night, Isla," Caden said, leaving the common room.
Once he was outside he considered going back. But she had a point. They were JUST friends.

Briella brought her sister back to the common room to show her around. "There's food over there, if you'd like to eat. I know you said you were hungry."

"Only a little bit. I'm not used to getting up so early," Acadya told her. The truth was that she'd hardly slept. But there was no where to go so she made herself.

"Really? I didn't wake you very early," Briella said, frowning a little. Or at least, it hadn't been early for her.

"It's been arranged that no one needs to see me until one in the afternoon. I wasn't getting enough sleep so I was crashing during lessons and meetings. Dad decided it might be better to let me sleep in," Acadya told her. "I rarely get up before eleven. Though I expect that to change here."

"And Mom allowed that?" Briella asked, actually surprised. It was rather...odd that Acadya would need to sleep that long. And if she could change it so easily?

"Mom has been busy," Acadya said with a sigh. "No one seemed to miss me so it wasn't that big of a deal. I'm sure that if questions started coming because of it that it might have changed."

"Well I guess if nobody questioned it, it isn't a big deal," Briella said and shrugged a little. "But yes, you won't be able to keep doing that."

"I won't have a reason to stay up all night," she said before she could remember to keep the details secret. Hopefully her sister would not ask questions or believe simple excuses.

Briella wanted to ask what had been keeping her up all night at home, but she saw a familiar figure coming into the room. Conveniently, since Briella did want to introduce them. "Isla!" she called in the only way that was proper.

"Oh, hello," Isla said. She seemed startled, only because she'd been deep in thought and hadn't noticed them as quickly as Briella had noticed her.

Acadya was popping a cookie into her mouth and quickly- not to mention very unlike a lady- stuffed it into her mouth as she turned to see the girl she'd been hoping to meet.

"I have someone to introduce you to," Briella said, waving her friend over and Isla obliged. "This is my younger sister Acadya. Acadya, this is Isla."

Acadya was still chewing, so to mask it she curtsied around a large swallow. "Mm, I apologize. It's a pleasure to finally meet you."

"Finally?" Isla asked, glancing briefly at Briella since she knew the other girl had probably talked too much. "Well it's a pleasure to meet you as well. I haven't heard much, but what I have is all good."

"My brother and sister were telling me about their friends. They both agree that you're. . . a good person to know," she said with a smile.
"That's good to hear, but it's been awhile since they've seen me. Hopefully they haven't just said I'm their sweet little sister."

Isla smiled, flattered that they both thought that highly of her. "A little more but still not much," she replied, giving her a smile. "So are you just here for a visit or are you going to be attending here?"

"Attending," Acadya replied cheerfully. "I officially signed up yesterday. Briella has been showing me around today."

"That's wonderful. I'm sure you'll love it. I know I do already, it will just take some getting used to. I haven't gotten fully used to it," Isla admitted, and warned a little as well. "How much of the school have you seen so far?"

"A good portion of it, though we haven't actually visited any classrooms yet. I suppose that will have to wait until I get my schedule," Acadya told her. "I know I'm going to love it. I just hope I manage to settle in as well as Briella and Caden have."

"If you settle even half as well as them you'll be doing better than me," Isla replied with a light laugh. "I'm still sort of in shell-shock I think at how nice this place is."

"Did you not expect it to be?" Acadya asked her curiously.

"Well no," Isla admitted in a simple way. She didn't think it would have been quite as nice as it actually was but it was more than she dreamed of.

"I guess I was a bit more enlightened on how the world would be with stories from my parents, but it is even more incredible now that I'm able to see it with my own eyes," Acadya said. "Do you feel overwhelmed at it all?"

"Absolutely," Isla admitted. "There is a lot of things here I don't fully understand. And it's so big and confusing it's going to take a long time for me to learn where everything is. But really that's a problem I've always had. It takes me a while to adapt to new surroundings. And something this drastic from home perhaps more so."

"I'm sure it's easier with Caden's help," Acadya said, giving her a not so subtle look.

"Oh yes, he's incredibly helpful," Isla said, though a light pink touched her cheeks since she knew Briella had likely given her the wrong idea. "Otherwise I'd just go directly to the library and back. Plus to classes, I would hope."

"Is it easy to get lost?" Acadya asked her.

"No, I don't think so," Isla said. If she paid close attention she could find her way but if her mind wandered she was lost. "Plus they give you a map which is quite helpful."

"I haven't gone through the folder aunt Hannah gave me yet, I was too excited to see my brother and sister," Acadya told her. "But after I get into my dorm I'll be sure to read it top to bottom."

"Oh yes, the welcome packet is incredibly helpful," Isla said, nodding. "Outside help is great too, but the packet helps with the basics so you at least know what you have to ask."

"Thank you," Acadya told her. "Do you have any plans for today?"

"Not really. Oh but your brother did invite me for dinner," Isla said, as if warning her. She was still rather nervous about that but she would still go.

"Really?" Acadya asked, excited. "When did he do that?"
