Here is my 4.19 rounded to 4 stars review of Wined and Died in New Orleans
by Ellen Byron:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Overall, this is an engaging cozy mystery with humor, suspense, action, and a bit of romance. I am thoroughly enjoying this series featuring Ricki who has turned her avocation of collecting vintage cookbooks into a job by establishing a gift shop in the late home turned museum of Genevieve (Vee) Charbonnet. The shop sells vintage cookbooks and kitchenware, but there's always a mystery around this museum.
Here is my 3.09 rounded to 3 stars review of Bright and Deadly Things
by Lexie Elliott: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Great characterization and atmosphere were the highlights for me in this mystery. However, the pacing felt somewhat uneven with some slow spots and the ending wrapped up a little too neatly and quickly. Additionally, the suspense didn't leave me with the sense of urgency that I wanted to feel.
I read Not the Ones Dead by Dana Stabenow It is book 24 in the series, which I recommend reading in order. Both my wife and I like this series and started reading it after a 1995 trip to Alaska. My 4 star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

If the rest of award-winning Irish author Sebastian Barry's books are as good as his latest, Old God's Time, I've got some great reads to look forward to. I loved Tom Kettle and his story. Barry writes with an Irish accent.
5★ My review of Old God's Time, more than half of which is Barry's wonderful writing (no spoilers).

Here is my 4.61 rounded to 5 stars review of Cold-Blooded Liar
by Karen Rose:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Karen Rose knows how to hook readers with a prologue and keep them engaged throughout a novel. Cold-Blooded Liar , the first book in her San Diego Case Files series, is no different. It combines a police procedural with some amateur sleuthing and a hint of romantic suspense.

by David Rosenfelt: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The story captivated me with the terrifying realism of the prologue. A twisty, deeply involved, and absorbing plot kept me engaged throughout this riveting mystery. With twists and turns, the investigation builds momentum until it peaks with an edge-of-your-seat finish.
Here's my 3.3 rounded to 3 stars review of Missing Clarissa
by Ripley Jones:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Young adult mystery
Overall, this was intriguing, entertaining, and had an action packed ending with diverse characters. However, some of the items revealed in the interviews seemed unrealistic for adults to divulge to teenagers.

by John Sandford:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
John Sanford brings investigation, suspense, and plenty of action to the second book in the Letty Davenport series. The story is part undercover investigation and part action thriller. Sandford’s a superb storyteller who kept me on the edge of my seat as the undercover operation and action unfolded. The final action scenes are riveting and hauntingly memorable.

A decent finish to this; managed to eke out 3 stars from me.The New Mother
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Orphan X This installment in the Orphan X series reveals more of who Evan Smoak is. Recruited when was just an orphan and trained to become a high-risk assassin for the government, Evan has to squelch his humanity in order to function as a killer. “The Nowhere Man”, that person you reached out to when you were most desperate, facing insurmountable odds. Evan had retired from his role as “The Nowhere Man.” But when his phone rings, and the caller seems to be the mother who gave him up for adoption, Is it a trap? What kind of trap. What do ‘they’ want? With this assignment, Evan must confront his past, his real past. For me, Orphan X was a great read, with fascinating, interlaced multiple tracks. I especially liked the narratives of Evens search as he gains an understanding of what it means to do what he needs to do to protect the ones he loves, while discovering his humanity. Jeff Bailey, author of the conspiracy thriller Not On My Watch.
Here's my 3.84 rounded to 4 star review of On the Line
by Fern Michaels:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The author mixes suspense, mystery, family, friendship, and romance into a heartfelt novel that pulled me in and kept me hooked from beginning to end.
I finished Panther Gap by James A. McLaughlin and give it 5++++ Stars! A 2023 Favorite! My Review
Panther Gap is a beautifully written, action packed thriller that swept me away. I love a story that integrates the surrounding environment into the plot line as an extra character as McLaughlin does in this one. Add a cast of nonconformist characters pushed over their physical and mental limits, and I'm one happy reader. Top that with a family drama - estranged, eccentric family members forced back together in the battle of their lives against bad guys coming at them from every direction in a multifaceted plot line, and I'm in book heaven.
The Devine Doughnut Shop by Carolyn Brown ⭐⭐⭐⭐.4 https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...
