I've seen it before but I don't know anyone who has read it.

Niki needs help (as usual). How are you guys getting things to bold and italicize?

message 555: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 1578 comments You use html codes. for bold its <.b>text without the periods. And for italics it's an i instead of a b. :)

message 556: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 1578 comments Ugh. It read the other one. You end that with .

Hopefully that shows...

message 557: by Liam (new)

Liam (leeman729) | 828 comments Above the comment box in the upper right corner, you just hit where it says "some html is okay" and it gives you options that you can copy paste. If you put your text between those codes, it'll make it bold =].

message 558: by C.P. (last edited Jul 14, 2017 01:31PM) (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 1578 comments That's a better explanation. I use the app so I don't have the copy and paste option.

Oh thanks!! All the answers I'm missing seem to be in that link lol.

message 560: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 1578 comments You can also search for other html to do some other things. I use an htlm code for the check marks I use on things.

I think it needs to be linked differently. I saw that "some HTML is ok" at first, and was like "uhhhh good to know?"

Maybe "list of HTML links", or "tips and tricks" would actually make sense!

Once upon a time it used to be listed down the side of the page where it was easily seen.

I know we talked about the Briggs Myers in one of these threads. I had my soon to be 15 year old take it today and I was watching her answers and rolling my eyes at some of them hard enough to cause whiplash.

She got done and came up ESFJ and I laughed and said that's not your personality. I quickly googled ESFJ careers and it came up human services, school teacher, social worker.......she made a face and said ya that's not me.

So I retook it answering as I would for her. She argued a few but I stuck with my answers. She came up ESTJ and what a difference that made. Careers came up stock broker, real estate agent, sales engineer...........pretty much all the things her mother and I tell her she should do for a career.

I smiled and said I know you better than yourself. Retort, well how accurate is it? I typed in INTP careers telling her in advance that was mine and it came back with all computer based careers.

A fifteen year old walking away silently smells like napalm in the morning.

Everything's coming up Scott today :) and damn you make me nervous for the teenage years. It would be interesting if you wrote down now what you perceive the rest of your daughters to be, and then later when they're ready take the test and then you can look back at what you thought they would be like. I bet that your intuition would be correct for the most part.

I took the test after you mentioned it. It was creepy how accurate it was, it mentioned that it takes a lot to anger an ISFP but when you do they will make your life a living hell, even mentioned the fact that my personality enjoys self-depreciating humor. Most of all it told me that I'll never be the organizing type and to just go with the flow cause that's not who I am.

message 570: by Ahdam (new)

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments I did a Meyers briggs test as an assignment for one of my modules in my film course and I found it very interesting although I had to do it again to remember what result I got and I do believe it is very similar since I got INFJ and I know its right because I'm definitely introverted although a lot less now compared to when I was younger and I had a look at careers and the closest one I got which is to my course was Graphic design and multimedia and I have had a go a that stuff and I did find it interesting if not complex to work with a couple of weeks ago

It also said my letters could mean I could be a librarian as well so you never know hahahaha

message 571: by Margret, Caladan Brood Face (new)

Margret | 3168 comments Mod
I think that it's more that you know how to function better as an introvert in an extrovert world. I can now actually speak a full sentence to people without wanting to run and hide, so maybe I'm braver? But still really need to wind down by myself at the end of the day, and have tendencies to want to go live in a remote area where you need a bush plane to fly yourself in and out because there's no roads in haha

message 572: by Scott , Karsa Orlong (new)

Scott Hitchcock (lostinthewarrenofchaos) | 8083 comments Mod
I think most people think of extroverts as people who never shut up and introverts as people who never talk. Those stereotypes certain describe some people but I think more often it's much more complicated. An extrovert can be a person who only enjoys the company of a select group of friends and really enjoys their company but they're still on the quieter side. Conversely an introvert could be an amazing public speaker but in their heart of hearts they desire time alone to contemplate.

Whenever I've taken it I come up over +60 for all of NTP. The introvert/extrovert I'm on the cusp and can come up either ENTP or INTP depending on my mood. At 18 I'd more consistently come up E and at almost 50 I'm nearly exclusively and I.

Honestly I just hope she finds happiness which I know is cliche but with her it's not an easy thing. She's way too into what others have, what others think of her......she's also the tough exterior and soft core, if she gets her heart broken OMG he's going to be devastated. My two biggest worries are that she'll get her heart broken and get married to her career or get married to an asshole who treats her like crap and she just doesn't see it.

For perspective I don't have that fear for any of the others. I also recognize she'll mature. I was a nightmare at that age like her.

message 575: by Liam (new)

Liam (leeman729) | 828 comments I was a literal disaster of a child when I was 15 haha. Crazy introverted, lots of problems, tough exterior like you mentioned, ect. I treated everybody in my life very poorly, and didn't have a lot of friends because of it.

Oddly enough though, I hit a point of breakthrough around when I was sixteen. Got really motivated, and my life totally turned around after that. Started really being intentional about school, got my head on straight with a girl who was my best friend since I was eleven, got a great job a year or two later, and then got married a few years after that (to the same girl haha).

I don't put too much stock into personality tests, because I took them when I was younger, and I was radically introverted, but later became hugely extroverted. Even my parents were shocked at the changes haha. So you never know.

Angus | 152 comments I've never done this test before and as i'm at the stage in my life where i have no idea what i want to do or anything i thought i'd do it haha So i did three separate ones and got ENTP every time, but all the suggested careers just seem so boring to me, so nothing helped in the end xD At least i know now, if anyone asks lol

She will Scott, it's not cliche for you to say that, it's a genuine worry for a father but you can only do so much. She knows you love her and will be there for her if she needs picking up off the floor just like when she was a child. Even the mistakes she will make will shape her self awareness and eventually she will find herself.

It's a very odd conversation to have right now, as my father was actually a lot like you... very healthy and physically fit, and loved me and my sister fiercely and we both knew it. I was going through probably the same things your oldest daughter is now, and I'm sure he had the exact same worries. At the exact same age your daughter is (15 right? ), we got into our vehicle and never quite made it home.

What I'm trying to say, and I'm sorry this conversation got so real, is try to take her out sometime this summer even if it's just for a day hike or whatever and tell her how you feel (and bring some tissues lol). She may not understand the impact now, but she will eventually. These are important times for your relationship.

The test is scarily accurate. I come up ISFJ and I'm actually planning to apply to teachers college for next year. It's one of the careers recommended for an ISFJ as well. Freaky. It's weird though I guess how we perceive ourselves can differ to how others see us.

My wife is ISFJ which is the polar opposite to my (E/I)NTP. She's much more of a hardcore introvert where I'm on the cusp between the two. You'll do well. that's the caretaker personality.

Niki needs to rant:

So, I've totally sucked at every buddy read I've signed up for this month. Right before the start of the month, I got pretty gung ho about finishing some of the series I was already working on, which set me off-track for joining the new ones. Then with finishing up the headache that is financing and building a house (and then moving), I have had zero focus. The road to hell is paved with all of my good intentions this month... I'm hoping August (and my remaining BR in July) will go better. I'm still going to read them all, lol, my comments may just come trickling in weeks late. :/

It doesn't help that my reread of Eye of the World is boring af. And my intention to delightfully reread (listen) to Way of Kings is being delayed because I don't have enough room on my phone to download the massive audio file because I have too many adorable videos of my kid on there and don't have a reliable means to get them off. Because of the move, I have no idea which box my Book of Jhereg is in and I don't want to pay for a second copy to make the read on time…

#firstworldproblems #thankyouforlistening #rantover

I know what you mean and to be honest I'm really disappointed I couldn't continue Way of Kings mainly due to some decorating happening at home and the day before the buddy read I went out to help film a theatre company doing a musical called Starlight Express and the day after I was ill so there was no way I would read way of kings in time

Right now I'm considering starting a doorstopper once I finished my other books before the fifth season so that's my first world problems

Well that's my personal story anyway I'm sure you will get out of it soon and keep moving forward and all that stuff

Surprisingly, it's not the kiddo that's giving me grief at the moment, lol. as soon as he starts throwing a tizzy fit, I'm going into hibernation…

I think I just need to get unpacked and get my house in order. I can't live like this.

message 592: by Liam (new)

Liam (leeman729) | 828 comments I can so completely relate, Niki.

Last year was almost a complete wash for me. I was working 40+ hours a week, with about four hours of driving every day (I had a two hour commute before me and my wife moved). I was taking a full load of classes, because I was desperately trying to finish my degree. I was planning my wedding, which dominated a lot of my time, because we have a HUGE family. Trying to keep up some semblance of a social life haha. And then we had to get our apartment ready to be moved into, because it needed a lot of work, and then the actual moving had to happen haha.

Luckily, things don't typically stay like that forever. Busy seasons come and go. I just did my best to enjoy it for what it was, and I'm extra thankful that my life has calmed down significantly this year =]. Things always have a way of settling down. The only problem is once things finally get back to normal, I end up complaining about how boring things are after I just got done complaining about how busy it is haha ;].

That has to be such a weird juxtaposition of so many amazing things going on in your life that are simultaneously exhausting! It always amazes me how productive I can be when things are busy, and how absolutely lazy I am when nothing's going on haha. Once I get my house organized (and my library – woohoo!)
