Talk about adding insult to injury, poor kid.

I smell anything you drink for a while but I'm smelling payback.

Anyone having problems with Goodreads not loading lately? The last two times I've tried to load the site and once earlier this week, it was either over capacity or there was an unexpected error.

I had the same issue this morning but just that once.

Well, I'm glad I wasn't the only one. I think when it didn't work for you guys it must have been the same time "unexpected error" came up for me last night.

I was driving to work behind a car whose number plate is AHDAMS and I was wondering Ahdam, what you were doing in Auckland and how come you already had a personalised number plate.

Also everything now I see a car license plate that starts DHG I immediately think of Deadhouse Gates.

message 609: by Ahdam (new)

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments Of course it's a coincidence it's not like I've built a portal that takes me to anywhere I want and I decided to go to New Zealand to embrace the hot weather and spiders and I thought better take my car as well with my name on it although that was my second favourite car unfortunately my go to car was thrashed after someone decided to take it on a joyride into a wormhole think of a Bugatti veyron and a Delorean decided to have a baby and the nameplate would have said AHDM T GR8 (I know it's too many letters so deal with it since it an turn invisible) after that I decided to go home after causing some ruckus there to have a cup of tea and wait for all that to blow over ahhhh...... I said that out loud didn't I??

On a real note I was feeling special with my name who would have a name like Ahdam and put it as a personalised plate (I personally don't like them sounds egotistical plus I done drive haha) it's a crazy world we live in bastards 😂😂😂

message 610: by Angela, I'm Silverfox lost (new)

Angela | 3694 comments Mod
Haha

I feel your explanation is very plausible. I think maybe you have built a portal. How freakin awesome would that be to have a portal. The only time I've heard those car names is on Top Gear.

message 611: by Ahdam (new)

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments Yeah well so have I actually since it's the only reason I know of that car

Love the show and also the grand tour as well can't wait for season 2

The cube next to me there's two liberals and two conservatives. One will just go off on a tangent on politics that's never ending. So our medical provider changed and one of them asked an innocent question if any of us had used the coverage yet. I listened to the answers and waited.............then stood up and said Dick how does this compare to Obamacare and the other three gave me sick looks of why would do that as I sat down laughing.

15 minutes later he's still going and I'm laughing so hard I'm sweating because all of his cube mates have gotten up to escape at different points and he's still going. It finally dies down and I lean over the cube and say, so Dick I missed it were you a Reagan Democrat? That didn't go nearly as long but I got full kudos from all of them from lobbing handgrenades at minimum velocity and maximum effect.

Sorry this might not translate as funny if you weren't hear but I needed to share.

Liam (leeman729) | 828 comments Hahahaha, I do that all the time when I'm with people like that. Oddly enough my wife's mom is one of them, and so when we're all together as a family, I'll make one little comment and then sneak out of the room, and the rest of them are trapped there listening to a rant from her.

Well timed comments seems to be your thing doesn't it?

message 617: by Ahdam (new)

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments I had to read it twice to understand it but you must get some interesting conversations when you have different people that are into politics and then just ranting over them sometimes I go on videos with politics just to read comments of people just saying how one side is better than the other and I just laugh at how funny it is when they do it

On a real life note a couple of weeks ago I was working at a production company and sometimes when we were on lunches we would switch on the news and we would just talk about it (this was when big stuff happened in the UK i.e. Uk elections, Attacks etc) and my employers were left leaning and were vocal about stuff on the news (We kind of need to be since were in the media and whatnot) and my friend who was with me was opposite that and we use to talk about politics a lot when were bored so he expressed his disagreement to me away from the employers but fortunately they were extra chill about opinions so it was pretty funny just saying bullshit and all that

Its probably the only thing I will give politics credit for since it gets people riled up even if it is stupid and annoying

message 618: by Ahdam (new)

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments But still I do wonder who these people are on the internet who have this us or them kind of thing thinking its a fantasy...you get it cos we read fantasy and I'm pointing.....oh nevermind I'm derailing the conversation into politics now

Dare I say it, but you sound a little bit like my husband Scott. He loves nothing more than stirring the pot. Even if he agrees with an issue he'll say the opposite just to get reactions. One of my sons appears to have developed the same ability.

That's awesome. Family members are the best to tweak. I have an aunt who cannot stand it if everybody doesn't agree with her. She'll start in on a topic and it doesn't matter if I completely agree with her or not I'll simply say we'll have to agree to disagree because she'll never let it go. My cousins actively groan knowing she'll bitch to them out how stubborn I am for weeks after on the phone backing up her position.

Being a contrarian is fun too but when you simply bring up the topic in an office and then flee while others cannot we call that dropping a hand grenade.

Your husband sounds like a righteous dude.

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments So today I went on a trail out in the countryside it was a nice walk seeing some nature and stuff and then on the way back I hear a noise and look up seeing a plane flying with a banner on its tail and on the banner it said "Anna I love you marry me ❤️ Adam" and ine side of me was like awww and the other was like it would be awkward if she said no

Anyway props to the guy who decided to propose in style hahahaha

It would be funny if she sent a plane back with a giant banner saying 'No' though hahaha

Then I started LMAO just because I'm a Monty Python fan and I'm getting flashbacks to Holy Grail! Ahh good times! I guess it's recommended because I read BFG to my son Sean.

I love bunnicula. The stories have this dry wit cause it's "written" by a dog

message 645: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 5949 comments I love Bunnicula too! The recommendations can sometimes be really funny and also weird. I had a cookbook recommended to me once. At the time I didn't have a single cookbook on any of my lists.

I wish there was a digital way to do this. Too bad Amazon wasn't participating and I couldn't hide a copy somewhere on the internet and leave clues to find it.

I'd think about it, except the only book I own is House of Leaves ... it's an experimental book I couldn't read on kindle or listen to on audio... 2 mediums I've been using so long I got rid of my physical books in the last few moves...

The main selling factor on hiding House of Leaves is people would flip through it and see all the weird pages with upside down, sideways, or diagonal text... lots of weird stuff... but the actual reading can be dense at times, or nonsensical stream-of-consciousness at others... I struggled with the book, but made it through because it was a group read... not planning any more experimental books any time soon tho...

You could, only you'd have to buy kindle/audible credits and then have some sort of virtual treasure hunt!
