I saw GNR again a few months last at the Orpheum which is an old opera house and the sound is way different.
Funny story about Jane's addiction. I was 19 and had on jeans and a champion sweatshirt which was the universal college attire of the day. The sweatshirt was neon orange. A friend asked me to go and I had no clue about the goth scene at the time and how it had taken off in Boston. We walk in and I'm literally the only person not dressed entirely in black. He was lucky enough to have on blue jeans with a black sweatshirt. Everybody has either black hair or bleached white hair.
So I see this guy who is mid 50's and he catches sight of me and I'm thinking he's either a dad or a PI looking for somebody and I'm the only normal looking person in the place. So he comes over and sure enough pulls out a photo and says have you seen this girl. I gave him the sorry look and shoulder shrug and said everybody looks the same to me in here. He gave me the no shit look and moved on. Felt bad but nothing I could do.
Then I ran into a girl I met in line from waiting for GNR tickets and had dated for a while. She was in rough shape and totally whacked out on something.
The opening band might be the worst I've ever seen. They were an untalented trash band. You couldn't make out a single word and they were out of tune.
Now for the fun part. JA is supposed to come on in 30 minutes. Small show, easy breakdown. From the time the first band goes off the PA starts blaring bagpipe music at epic decibels. This goes on for 75 minutes. I was going out of my mind and kept threatening to leave on my friend. It was like nails on a chalkboard.
They finally came on and it was worth the wait. Perry Farrell had on this fluorescent red dreadlock wig that looked like Side Show Bob and fluorescent green gloves to match. They came out to the Mountain Song and killed it. Narravo is a self-absorbed douche but the boy can play. They were sick.

Jenna, my son had a fantastic time in Korea. He's in China now, but he loved the food and shopping in Korea. They went to the National War Memorial, Korean camping (so unlike NZ camping), to tie ribbons at the ferry disaster from a couple of years ago, school of course, Seoul Tower and so much else. The pictures I've seen look amazing!!!

That's great to hear! Korean camping?! Even I don't want to imagine that.

It was actually really cool. They had a bonfire, made paper balloons to let off, kart riding on oxen, amazing swings, dance competition, making rice cakes. LOL there wasn't a tent in sight.

Are you accusing me of being Italian? :p
Thanks for the well wishes. We named him Alexander - it was the front runner before the birth and when we saw him there wasn't really a question of it.

Great name and congrats again.
Great name and congrats again.
Great name. And people can actually spell it, which is a huge bonus!
Make sure you get in lots of sleep before the 3 week mark! That's when the nightly after dinner fussy time seems to start

Congrats on the new baby!
Congratulations Sean. Best name in the whole world for your son! My eldest boy is called Alexander! It was a frontrunner for us too.
Any good bookish instagram-ers out there? I'm slowly sifting through my GR account looking for people to follow :) the more the merrier!
One of things I love so much about this group how truly international it is!
If you had told me a year ago I would be buddy reading and talking books with people living in Croatia, India, Poland, Indonesia, Netherlands, Ireland, Brazil I probably wouldn't have believed them. I'm bound to have missed out a ton of countries people from this group are from. Makes me think how amazing this group is. Thanks so much to Scott and Jenna for creating it.
I was already interacting with lots of people on GR from USA and Canada for some reason.
Hahaha yeah I'm really saying how awesome you all are!!!

It's a really healthy Canadian delicacy full of antioxidants and Omega-3 fatty acids.
Just kidding, it's fries with cheese curds smothered in brown gravy. And it's delicious.

Ps I'm totally embracing the chips & gravy you sent me 😍😍 my favourite!

Agreed it's way too hot. My brother in law lives in Darwin. I don't know how he does it. Air con is essential.

I just feel sorry for everyone who lived there before aircon was created, you can't even cool off in the ocean because of stingers & Crocs.

Yes and the weathers all over the place. In one week you'll have every kind of weather except snow. It snows maybe every 5 years but it's usually pretty light and you can't do anything with it. The ice storms are what sucks. We have a lot of pine trees and they'll be down everywhere. We usually only have those every couple of years though.
We're just now getting into triple digit heat where I live. Luckily there's not much humidity though. I actually love the heat but I'm a rare breed here.

Metallica I've seen now 3 times (4th coming in Aug) because they're my favorite (pre-90's)
BUT. Best show I think I've seen was seeing Heart in the concert hall in Edmonton. I can't believe how different the sound is compared to a stadium.. they did their last half of the show as a Led Zeppelin tribute and people were literally crying. And well Nancy and Ann are just amazing in general.
I've also seen City and Color in the same venue and still awesome.
