If it's anything like previous similar challenges, this should count.

With My Body has over 200 very short chapters. Her other books may be written the same way.

Exercises in Style has exactly 100 chapters as written, but some (many?) editions have extra chapters at the end that the author added later, or that admirers have come up with.

Oooo, Tales of the City also looks like it has over 100 chapters! I know you've read that one already Ray, but later books may have enough chapters, too. And if anyone else is thinking about it read my review, I loved it :)

Ideas, yea! :)

Labor 5B ◈ Read a book where something catches on fire
Edge of Midnight starts off with a bookstore catching on fire (by the sounds of the synopsis).

Labor 4D ◈ Read a book that is 10+ in a series
Hot Pursuit is #15 in the Troubleshooters series (and I really need to get back and finish this series!!).

Ray (user2637) (hugpete) | 1521 comments Since we get 40 bonus points for finishing 6 whole Labors, it may be in our interest for people to try to choose spots to "close out" a Labor. However, that may be moot because we *should* be able to do 60 books in 3 weeks (12 Labors * 5 books each = 60), which would be all the Labors done.

I still don't know where we get the bonus tasks, but if they all follow the example on the rules page, then the books there are worth 10 pts each too (example has 3 books for 30 pts). The Riddle bonus tasks are great because it seems we just have to poke around and message -- easy points!

Don't think there's much more to number-crunch, unless the bonuses are very different than the example.

Labor 7B ◈ Read a book where someone has a nervous breakdown (maybe...?)

12c person takes a shower- do they have to describe a shower or simply say the person went in to take a shower , he just came out of the shower etc. If that works then my current book A Honeybun and Coffee (Honeybun Heat #1) by Sam Cheever works

message 3934: by Margaret (new)

Margaret | 456 comments Kazen wrote: "If Edge of Midnight ends up not working (fire didn't take after striking the match, etc, heh..."

Edge of Midnight is not going to work for Labor 5B ◈ Read a book where something catches on fire .

The 'fire' referred to in the synopsis has happened already and the hero doesn't 'rescue' the heroine at all. He just comes by and talks to her while she is staring at the ruins....

But there is a whole heap of crazy going on and one murder already, so if I don't find anything catching on fire it will fit for the following:
Labor 5C ◈ Read a book that has at least 5 different covers (you can see all the covers here)
Labor 9D ◈ Read a book with a murder that happens during the book timeline
Labor 6C ◈ Read a book where someone is mentally unbalanced

A note going forward - could you put the Labor number/letter with the description when you're submitting a task? We have so many at once it's the only way I'm going to be able to keep everything straight. @_@ Thanks!

Thank you so much for the number crunching! Hmmm, not much change, huh. The main labors may be slightly better once completion points are added in, but it's not substantial.

BONUS LABOR 1

Capture and bring back cerebus!

◈ Hades refuses to let you use any weapons you already have. You need to find a weapon - Read a book with a weapon, other than a shield or sword, on the cover.
◈ You conquered the beast, but you must find a way to get him back to Hades. - Read a book with a large vehicle on the cover.
◈ You made it past all the trials and are on your way home - Read a book with a hole on the cover.

BONUS LABOR 2

Dionysus has agreed to host the celebration festival in your honor for completing all your Labors. He does insist on a few tasks completed in his name first.

◈ Read a book with a Purple cover.
◈ Read a book with grapes or vines on the cover.
◈ Read a book with a centaur.
◈ Read a book the characters dance

Points: 40

message 3948: by Kazen (new)

Kazen Ooo, these look fun! I do think that the main labors will be more pointsy because they have completion points, but now we have these bonuses to look forward to, too. Yea!

Ray (user2637) (hugpete) | 1521 comments Kazen wrote: "I do think that the main labors will be more pointsy because they have completion points..."

If we do all 60 books for the main Labors, it's 930 pts for an average of 15.5 pts/book. Bonus Labor 1 is 5 books for 60 pts, so 12 pts / book. It's not too much less per book. *shrug*

So, are we stuck with these two Bonuses until we do them? Or is there a mechanism to change them out for new Bonuses?

message 3950: by Ray (user2637) (new)
