I wasn't much of a fan too Ashley. I thought it was okay. I expected more I guess.

I own a kindle but I use it MAYBE five times a year. I use my library almost exclusively. For some reason, when I'm reading a book on Kindle, I just get distracted and bored and never want to finish. But holding a book, especially a hardcover? That's the good stuff.

I went through a phase when I first bought my Kindle where I couldn't read anything in physical form lol But I moved on from that honeymoon pretty quick.

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 7238 comments I have to agree. I love having a physical book in my hand but it's also a good way for my family to stop interrupting my reading time with them taking my ereaders for game playing. LOL

For me it is mostly ebooks and audio. I tend to listen to books while at work and during drive time. Then read ebooks while at lunch, etc. I do have physical books but they only get brought out on the weekends when I know I will be home and able to finish one.

Diane Woods | 352 comments For those who are looking for cheap and or free ebooks, check out bookbub.com. They list cheap and free ebooks for all different genres every day. You don't get to choose which books are on the list at any given time, but it's a great way to discover new books to read. Okay, I just realized that might be doing more harm than help to a bunch of addicts like us! LOL

I read a mix of physical books and ebooks. I'm one of those people who hav3 one physical book and one ebook going at the same time. Whenever I'm home, I read the physical book. And the ebook helps when I'm running errands or stuff as I can't always have a physical book around. I manage to slip it into the extra ten minutes I get here and there.

I use bookbub.com too. And yes, it has done more harm than good. I haven't read 90% of the books I got through it! They just keep piling up on my Kindle, lol! I'm really counting on the WOBBLE challenge to help me get through them!

I switch between physical, ebooks and audiobooks too. When at home, I prefer reading physical books but ebooks are great when traveling and I listen to audiobooks when I'm in the car or out walking.

message 619: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (nancyland) | 387 comments Hello everyone! Just signed up for this challenge, it looks so much! Great job Mods!! Can't wait to get this starter!

I switch between ebooks/audiobooks and physical as well, it all depends on what version my library has :) I only use ebooks for their simplicity in borrowing from the library though, if I own a book myself, it's a physical copy (or audio), not an ebook.

My favourite series right now is probably Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson, which is the one exception to my rule above. the first book, Way of Kings I own in paperback, hardcover, ebook AND audiobook format ;)

message 620: by Kerri (new)

Kerri (kerrimcbooknerd) | 1200 comments I am a physical book person, for sure, though I do own a Nook. I read ebooks every once in awhile, but I find it's harder for me to get into the book for some reason. I think I like to physically see how far I've gotten in a book, heh. Also, books smell soooo good!

I have yet to try out audiobooks. I'm about to be moving across the country, so maybe I'll give it a go for the ride.

Jessie Seymour (bookishjaja) | 249 comments Re: Favorite books

I can't list my favorite books without first mentioning Harry Potter. I'm a total psycho potterhead. Like beta tester for pottermore psycho potterhead.

With that said, I really like JK Rowling's first novel after Harry Potter, The Casual Vacancy. It's got incredible character development which I'm a complete sucker for.
I also really loved The Alchemist.

I'm currently reading The Elephant Whisperer. I don't naturally go for nonfiction, but I love elephants, and the reviews were good so I picked it up. I'm only on chapter 15 at the moment, but it is SO good. Definitely a great intro to the nonfiction world.

message 622: by Jessie (new)

Jessie Seymour (bookishjaja) | 249 comments Re: Physical vs e-book

I still love physical books. Actually turning a page and seeing the "pages read" increase while the "pages yet to read" decrease makes me feel good. I also prefer paperback over hard cover.

I don't have an e-reader, but even if I did I think I'd still prefer physical books. I'd only get an e-reader if I decided to fulfill my dream to be nomadic and carrying physical books just wasn't practical. I would like to try audio books though. I was thinking about dipping my toes into that realm for Wobble actually, so I can basically read two books at once haha

No, you're not the only person! I tried it, via Audio, and it was a DNF for me! I keep thinking I'll try again just reading it (no audio), but I just couldn't get into it either! I don't know if it was because I had just recently listened to the Harry Potter books and the narrator was the same so it threw me off and I kept thinking I was listening to HP or what! But I just didn't get it!

Yes, you have to sign up. I'll post another direct link here after this post for new people arriving.

It's a team challenge so it isn't anything you can just start and do. You have to be on a team which will be given out about a week prior to start, maybe a little sooner, but not by much. Still a lot to do! :)

message 630: by Karsyn (last edited May 20, 2016 09:24AM) (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Click Image to go to sign up form.

First Round of sign ups will close end of day May 31st (Pacific time). If you aren't signed up by then, you'll be put on a waiting list to be added when we have enough people for 2 additional teams (must have even amount of teams).

Sign up for Wobble

message 634: by Joyce (new)

Joyce (eternity21) | 478 comments I rarely read a physical book anymore. I so prefer ebooks. I can read anywhere I am that way. I also love audio books. I usually have an ebook and audio book started at the same time. I'm not a fast reader so one book a week is just about right for me.

message 635: by ♦Ashley♦ (new)

♦Ashley♦ (ascherger12gmailcom) | 1131 comments I haven't read a physical book in years. I usually always read my ebooks and audios. It is very convenient. I can load up my kindle and take everything with me where ever I go and it's easy for me to read in bed while my husband is sleeping. I do miss going to used book stores and B&N though, but I kind of feel like Goodreads fills that hole for me.

message 636: by Kerri (new)

Kerri (kerrimcbooknerd) | 1200 comments I absolutely love book stores/libraries. I love the way they smell, the atmosphere, all the lovely books just waiting to be perused. I can (and have) spend hours in a book store and think it is time well-spent! Well... as long as I don't have my two year old with me. He is far less patient.

So much for me reading during the read-a-thon. :D

I also miss really browsing through book stores. But I find I actually spend less money by only buying books that I can't get easily. I use the library so much more now as well. So instead I buy ebook readers LOL, I have at least 3. So I probably break even

The mods gather all out names and then put us on teams :) that way the teams are relatively fair. :) and everyone gets to meet new people!! (And add new books...ahem....to their tbr lists!!!)

Yup, what Catherine said. We put you in teams by your estimated book count, in this case monthly. We also take time zones into consideration. You'll learn your teams about a week, or a little longer, before the start of the challenge.
