Wobbly WOBBLE: Pre-Challenge chat

Ditto that.
Suzanne wrote: "My advice has pretty much all been said, but I'll list it again:..."I second everything Suzanne said! :-)
Laurence wrote: "I will be reading in French so I wish it won't matter the other members of my team?"I am 100% sure that isn't a problem - lots of people read in different languages.
My favorite thing about team challenges is meeting new people that love to read and sharing our favorite books. It seems that when a little friendly competition is added to my reading, I tend to read more books.

I signed up 15th for Wobble, hope my aplication hasnt been lost. When will Wobble start? I can't wait for team names! If I have some Q about games( like Battleship), since English isn't my first language, can I ask mods about it to clarify it for me.
Suzanne, you said it all so well! Especially #1. Please, please communicate with your team on a regular basis. It's been really hard captaining my UNO team with so many people not commenting and/or just dropping off. Looking forward to a great challenge! :)

I think the WOBBLE challenge is set to start on June 17.
And if you have questions and need help understanding anything, I think the best thing to do will be to ask in your Team Thread (once it has been created, of course). That will give everyone - and especially your Captain and Co-Captains - a chance to help you. And if they can't help you, your Captain or Co-Captains will ask the Mods.

Hey Ozawa. Just checked to make sure, yes, your sign-up is there. As Jen said, the challenge starts June 17th.
As for teams, we already are working on them, promise, but we'll have to wait a little longer for them.
As for the challenge, the rules we posted are very generic, and some just a teaser.
A few days before each component start, we will post the detailed game, how it works, specific tasks and instructions. So it's only natural to have questions at this time, but we can't answer them without spoiling the surprise.
Language barrier is something really hard to deal, so, if there is anything we can help to make you feel more comfortable let us know.
even if you are a 1 book a week person you a re important to the team. IN TTIV i found it very difficult chasing up people who did not check in. So even putting "really enjoying the book - got so far is useful."Do not be overawed by those who read 5 or 6 books a week remember they might be at home more, read faster or be reading shorter books. Every book counts
we had someone not check in for ages last time.
I like a chatty team
Does it look like you are doing OK for captains / co-captains I put no on the form because i think it is bit more complicated than usual BUT if it is the difference between having a team or not i would co-captain with someone more experienced and google expert than myself
I LOVE chatty teams! I admit I was on GR for over a year quietly logging my books and secretly stalking different groups & challenges in stealth mode. Then I decided to jump in & WOW! I've gone totally crazy now. The best and most amazing thing to me was meeting all the other people who read even more than I do and the way everyone loves to discuss books. I had never in my life met anyone who read as much as I did. It's fabulous, really. I'm really looking forward to WOBBLE!
Marie wrote: "Does it look like you are doing OK for captains / co-captains I put no on the form because i think it is bit more complicated than usual BUT if it is the difference between having a team or not i w..."Yes, we are okay. I'm not the one doing the teams this time - the 350+ sign-ups for TTIV did a toll on me - but there are no cuts for lack or captains so far. Yep, everybody has a spot.
But thanks Marie, we'll take note of that :)
Lauri wrote: "I LOVE chatty teams! I admit I was on GR for over a year quietly logging my books and secretly stalking different groups & challenges in stealth mode. Then I decided to jump in & WOW! I've gone tot..."I know the feeling.
I was planning on sitting out and just being on the sidelines this time. Background work and mentoring seemed to be enough fun.
I even managed to resist all teasing, and hints, and chatting and even the opening of sign-ups.
Then I notice some usuals were missing and sent some PMs. Big Mistake. That plus some mod chatting and I cave in.
*sigh*
I use to say resistance is futile. I have no will power at all.
LOL
This will be a great challenge, every challenge so far, for me, was different and so are the Teams Inwas in. Inwas in great chatty teams and last team " just read it" team and I must say I didn't like it as much as comunicative ones. It feels alone somehow. So we have a month to prepare, select some kind of playlist of books and soon is summer break of work, since challenge will be at least for 18 months and I'll have time to read more than when I work.
Great work mods as ever!
This will be my 5th challenge for group. Great group to be in.
Ozana wrote: "This will be a great challenge, every challenge so far, for me, was different and so are the Teams Inwas in. Inwas in great chatty teams and last team " just read it" team and I must say I didn't l..."Just to fix Ozana's typo. Challenge isn't for 18 months, but 18 weeks ☺
Catherine wrote: "I havr to agree with you Ozana....when the team is quiet, you do feel very alone."Sadly, that's not something we can control.
You could always try to start conversation between members. If it doesn't work, you can always visit and chat with another team. :)

*pokes head in*
Figured I'd come say hi after 10 pages of chat have already happened. I'm surprised at myself that I've been quiet so far haha. ;-)

Yeah, I thought you have forgotten about us...
Sonia wrote: "Eldarwen wrote: "Would I ever, Sonia??"
I sure hope not, otherwise I would miss you terrible!"
Awww, thank you :-D
I'll always come by to chat for team challenges, and if it's only to start a picture war *grin*

Nothing!

I never thought of chatting with the competition. Horrors! But now I see it could be good strategy. ;)

Unless you decide to claim which team has rights over some picture of a wet Matt Bomer... the water teams because...hello water... or the desert teams because it was so hot he had to cool off.
Hi everyone!I only joined this team yesterday and decided to throw myself in the deep and go for this team challenge! (don't worry, I've done team challenges before and although I don't read 5/6 books a week, I checked in every day). I'm really looking forward to this and to getting to know you all a little better.
Oh, btw. Hello Eldarwen! I did't know you are a member of this group as well! Nice to 'see' you! :D
LOVE waking up to all the pre-challenge chat! Woohoo!! :DChatty teams are my favorites as well, though my last team was super quiet, only checked in when finished books/goals, but we worked fantastically together! :D
People who requested chatty teams were mostly put together, some mixed with "doesn't matter" just because they had to go somewhere. :) Hopefully many of the "doesn't matter" will find the fun in chatting!

I agree chatty teams make it so much nicer. Even if you are chatting about more than just books. It just makes the challenge so much more personal. :)If any of the mods need help with any behind the scene stuff please let me know - I don't mind doing what I can!

1. Please stick around for the whole challenge and keep in contact - its REALLY hard on a team to have players just disappear.
2. Read books you enjoy - don't turn it into work. Your team is there to help you find books that fit a goal if you need help.
3. Have fun! I love Goodreads - at first it was for the books, but now I love even more interacting with the people I've gotten to team up with - they are terrific!
