Now I'm curious so I sent you a friend request!
I have a hard time picking just one favorite book. I tend to read series though(I'm just not a big fan of reading single books).
Currently waiting on the next book in the Safehold series by David Weber and book 16 of the frontier's saga by Ryk Brown. 2 current favorites hand down.
Growing up it was Harry Potter. I loved the big online presence and reading fanfiction. I'm still going to give a listen through of all the audio books since their on audible. And I'll be buying the new screenplay(which they'll hopefully have on audible).
After that it switched to LOTR. I'm halfway finished with the last of the history of middle earth series. Again, I love the books and the online presence with fan films, discussions, podcasts, etc.

Whilst I do love stand alone books...I do trnd to read a lot of series to..whether that is by design or not, who knows. I love Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter...but have you read Outlander series?

Catherine, I just accepted. Thank you! And. . . W-O-W. You have the largest TBR shelf that I have ever seen. !!! Now to compare and see how many of my scant few are on your monster list. ;-)
Only 846?! I might have some on mine that you want on yours, lol. ;-)

I see you found your way out!!! lol. My list is alive (I think)....books magically appear there!! I also keep finding books here, and every time I walk onto Barnes & Noble (bookshop) the books just jump into my bag!! I always have to leave some behind...lol. it's so sad....and then I go back again...just to get them!!

Yeah imagine working there! I can't even tell you how many books I've bought since I started working at B&N

I haven't. I'm a bit worried since it's a romance. Romance is one of those things that I find hard to like. I like strong female and male main characters that tend to have an equal relationship. If you've ever seen Charmed, think Piper and Leo. They love each other, they get into their fair share of arguments, and they rescue each other when they get into trouble. It's not lopsided like in most romance novels.
I'm not saying romances are a bad thing, their just normally not to my taste in books or tv.

I am telling you...Outlander is a terrific series...yes..there is romance, but there is also a burly highlander...aka...James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser....yummy!!!
And the books follow history pretty well :)

You can start/read anytime, but the actual interaction (like during Leprechaun) will start early in the A.M. (EST), probably by 8, perhaps before.

Oh..there's no "leaving with one book" for me!!! I take a bag with me...and when it's full..then I leave!!! Sometimes I have a few extra in my hands...but I try to only use the bag...hahaha!!!!
Do people mainly use physical books here? I tend to use a mix of physical, ebooks, and audiobooks. I have to use my shelves here to divide between them so I can see where I have each book in a series.

Okay, thanks! :-)

I do. I have over 1,000 books on my Kindle (most not on my to-read shelf here in Goodreads) and maybe a dozen audiobooks from Audible.com, but I rarely listen to audiobooks and it's even more rarely that I read a book on my Kindle. I much prefer print editions. :-)

As Jen said, it's more of a preferrence :D My Kindle comes in handy when I go on trips and don't want additional weight, audiobooks when I'm on the road (or plane lol). But I prefer print coz I love the feel of turning them pages!
I finally caught up on reading this crazy long chat! I am so excited for this challenge! :)
My favorite book is really hard to pinpoint...I would probably say my favorite recent reads are Me Before You and The Fellowship of the Ring...of course HP is up there too. I have a lot of five star books though...
I read a mix of physical, ebook, and audiobook. It really just depends on what format I can get a hold of. I love audiobooks for commuting, they make the time just fly by!

I've never had a preference. I always just pick up what's cheapest when I want something. I do make sure to have a large collection of audio books and podcasts for work. And I have audio, ebooks, and physical copies of the Harry Potter and LOTR books, along with a few other favorites.

I think a sign of a really good book is if it can actually make you cry at the end. I havent read one recently, but I understand the idea completely.

ok...I ment to wave hello at you, not make you want to puke. I can't keep looking at this LOL!

If I may, I would like to recommend a series to you. Piers Anthony wrote a fantasy series called "Xanth" and it is great! Everyone in the land has their own magical power that they inherit at birth. The first book, "A Spell for Chameleon", is a journey for the protagonist to find her own magical power since one did not present itself at birth. The subsequent books build off the original characters. When I last checked, there were about 35 books. They are kind of short, but that might keep you going for a while!

My local library has a book sale about 4 times a year and they always have a "bag of books" day at the very end of each one. That means you can go in, fill a paper grocery bag with AS MANY books as you can fit in there and they will let you buy the whole bag for $5! I either do that or go to Hooked On Books when I want to stock up.

I'm exactly the same. I really prefer print books but the kindle is great for cheapies and when travelling.

There is a novella, and then a novel with the same name. The novel is the one you want! People loved the novella so much, she added to it. :)

I read almost exclusively ebooks. Hurts my hands to hold physical books too long (I have fibromyalgia, andlots of diagnoses ending in -itis.)

My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry is my favorite book I've read this year. Big huge tears, ugly sobbing, and overwhelming joy.
The Book Thief is my favorite of all time. I've often said that if you don't get feels at the end, you may not have a soul. Because feels. ♡♡

I figured out my favourite book last week...it's Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I've always said that I love them all and can't pick a favourite. But I did. Finally.
Ahh chatty teams! Now the funny thing is that a lot of us want chatty teams and I'm seeing a few comments saying that they haven't been on one in the past or they are on a "quiet" one now.
Did you ever think that maybe your whole team is secretly "chatty" and they are just waiting for someone else to kick off a convo!? So follow on from Marie and ask your current team what their favourite book is.
It's like prep work for Wobble hahaa

have added the first, as it is in my library (the only way books are getting onto my TBR at the moment)

i have a kindle but since retirement am trying to stick to the cheaper library options so physical audio and e books from there

I'm the opposite, lol. I have both carpal tunnel and tendinitis in my hands, and for me, I need the variety that reading print editions provides. It's the incredibly rare occasion (if indeed it's ever happened) where I'll read two books in a row that are the exact same size and length.
Holding my Kindle for too long activates my tendinitis, so that's one reason why I don't much like to read on it very often. The other being that I get eye strain headaches that turn into migraines.
So it's mostly print for me! :-)

that was fabulous read it twice already"
I must be the only person who hated this book! I almost want to read it again to see if I missed something

I highly recommend trying the audiobook. It is narrated by the amazing Jim Dale.

Ahhh a good idea...but I really don't like his narrating so I don't think that would work for me. Maybe if Stephen Fry narrated!

More recently I loved The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared

I'm almost completely digital. I live in Japan where space is at a premium, and ebooks just fit into my life better. Easy to read on the train, easy to read while knitting. Try holding a paperback open while working on a sock! ;)

Ray, I also find ebooks easier on the body. Much love to you - grah fibro! I have one of the -itises, ;)
It's nice to make the text really big so I can read without glasses in bed, too. ;)

Ah, that is a good idea! Last time I was in a team challenge, most of my team were in a different time zone. Every time the captain made a request for someone to read a book for a certain task, by the time I would read that request, someone else had already finished the book (well, almost anyway...).
Like now: I looked at this thread last night - now it is morning and there are 2 more pages full of fun talk! Great! :D

Hey, Maria Helena!!
I also loved the audiobook of The Night Circus. Although, Jim Dale also narrated the Harry Potter books so I kept thinking of reading them while listening to it.

I listened to the Harry Potter books first and loved Jim Dale's narration. The fact that he was also narrating The Night Circus was the reason I read it.
