Can I have a hug please?
Sounds as if GG merits a very British hug. Stiff upper lip and all.Hope you get to see your family soon.
Thanks Jane. Stiff upper lip and all, I love all hugs. :)Need to do things first. Only time will tell if I will. To make long story short, I have incurable cancer. I am going back on chemo in a few weeks and have no clue what the future holds for me after that. I was hoping to see my son before that second round of chemo. I haven't seen my son since 2007 and he was rather sad/mad I didn't show up after telling him I would.

That's hard GG. Hard on you and on all those who love you. You may have an especially warm hug and a whiskery kiss from my canine companion.
G.G. - (((((((((( A Thousand Furry Hugs )))))))))) I'm very sorry your serious health issue and that you have not been able to visit your son. I hope you can see him soon.TL, C.L., V.M. G.G. - Thank you for your hugs, kind words, and understanding. Yes, we consider our dogs as our furry family. We are lucky to have had them in our lives. They always give us much more than we could ever give back.

Oh GG; how poopey!I hope some sanity prevails somewhere and you still manage to get that trip.
((gentle squidgy hugs))

I am going through the same thing right now - I started off on the right foot with 28 books sold in the first few days and then for the last three weeks I've sold 3 copies. And the last few days - nothing. It is very discouraging when you've worked so hard on something that means so much to you. But I have decided that, for me, the sales don't matter. What matters is that I accomplished my dream of publishing my words.
My hope is that you realize how wonderful and magical it is that you have a book with your name on it! That is a huge accomplishment by itself.
*hugs*

I'm now on sale at 99p with Amazon UK and running out of marketing ideas.
I was feeling very discouraged but your comments about accomplishing something special just by publishing has cheered me up a little!
Thanks Samantha!
Hey Samantha and Martin; I really got over my momentary blip quite quickly. I'm 3 years old now (as an author), so am quite used to the highs and lows. But we all feel disappointed sometimes, which is why this thread is being kept on. We can give each other solace.Indeed, our main accomplishment is finishing a book and having the guts to 'get it out there'. Sales are really just an added bonus.
It's only that my 5th book is trying to raise money for charity, so I put extra pressure on myself.
It's really annoying as it's permanently 99c/99p which means the vast majority of book pushing sites (like FussyLibrarian) won't even look at it.
Most sites say your book should be free or on sale at a discount. So my perma 99 doesn't meet criteria.
But I want to keep it at that price so that all who could get comfort or knowledge reading it can do so.
Hey ho.
Good luck to all.
Samantha and Martin - Congratulations on publishing your books. What a wonderful accomplishment. I wish you both success.TL - Keep on chugging along.

I find that social media is the only way to get the word out now a days.
Anywho - best of luck to you and your book endeavors. I will certainly check out your work.
Ooh yes; I've tried paid ads too (GR/Twitter/fb) as well as some review/promo sites. So many things. But if people buy they buy. I've decided not to stress.

Yeah, stressing tends to be good for nothing! I wish you the best xo
OK; back to me ('cos it's all about me and my woes obviously!?)Requesting hugs please.
My dream very almost became a reality this week. I could smell it, feel it, touch it; it was within my grasp!
But now it's gone again, and I feel like a wingless butterfly! :-(
Serious bubble pop moment. (*huff*)
Why?
It's just cruel to show me such a golden opportunity just to snatch it away.
Like "ooh smell this most amazing pizza you'll ever eat)!" (wafting under nose). "Oops, no! Not for you!" (snatching it away and scoffing it in front of you)
Yeah, I know 3rd world problems and all that.
And it's not exactly the end of the world.
But I'm hurting! ;-(
(((MONDAY HUGS)))Yes, it's that time of the week again. you love it really, you know you do.
Muchly love and support with you all xx
Oh, and I don't like using this for anything but normal supportive hugs, but...(((((BIG HUGE HORSEY HUGS))))) to Charlotte Dujardin this morning after her phenomenal gold in the dressage yesterday.
(sorry; very proud Brit and horsey person)
Please forgive my exuberance this once. :)
TL - NO need to apologize! I love horsies too. When I was little, I thought horses were what dogs grew into and tigers were what cats grew into. Yup, I really thought that. :/(((((((((( HUGE HUGS TO ALL ))))))))))
Aww Sue; I love that idea. Hang on, no I don't! My cat is trouble enough in petite size (demanding spoiled princess that she is!) ;-POnly odd, as I am far more a dog person. I just took pity on the kitty when she had to be rehomed. :)
Anyway, I'm just rambling now.
xx
(furry hugs)
the innocent kind; not the kind that appear in BDSM tales! ;)
TL - Ha ha. Being a dog rescuer, I am certainly more of a dog person. However, like you, I would also help a kitty in need. She's a lucky princess. Hugs. ; )
How cool is that? (Although it can be a little dangerous!) I hugged my hubby -- which is always wonderful.Hugs to everyone and have a great weekend!

Think I'll stick with the duck. Hugging him indoors leads to stuff....
Dorothy; I just want to be friends with the whole world <3Jane; really? A duck? How lovely! :-o
Davyne; yes, husband hugging can be a dangerous thing ;-p
(yes, I know what you meant, but not how I read it at first; pmsl)
I need extra hugs today; spent all yesterday afternoon and ALL day today working on re-re-re-re-re-editing my book! At long last I'm going into print (not saying which one, so not like the other naughty book whacker).
But boy, have I learned a lot since I wrote that one a few years back, so actually going through re-jigging. e.g. I had to have a kind soul point out to me my over-familiarity with the exclamation mark (oops). So, removing lots of those.
Also, my good practice of paragraphs has been thrown in the bin.
From Word to ebook and/or print, the paragraphs are longer than they appear! So spacing those much more nicely too.
Nearly done! Just got to wrangle with page numbers next.
I've decided on POD company, trim size, paper type etc.
Even got my ISBN ready.
My cover designer will soon be on the case.
Eek! Exciting times; almost ready to go into print.
It's only taken me over 3 years!? Hey ho. Slow and steady wins the race. ;-p
I'm rambling. Sorry. Excited!
My point was I've exhausted myself, and sort of want good luck hugs too please.
Weeknd love to you all
xx

(((((((((( Huge Hugs to All ))))))))))TL - Thanks! I love seeing Snoopy hugging Woodstock! Good luck with your book!
Jane - You brave and kind woman. I'm sure you made that duck's day!
Davyne - I hope you are also enjoying your weekend!
Annie - Awwwwe! How cute and artistic!
Ahem... Just have to say... indoor hugs with my hubby do also lead to other things... very pleasant things. But, those are NOT the kind of hugs I was passing on here. Nice, warm, platonic, invigorating, consoling, uplifting hugs being passed on here. TL -- congratulations! I absolutely LOVE writing and that moment when you are really getting ready to put your baby out there -- your beautiful baby -- is SO exciting. You have me jazzed just reading about your excitement!
And here's another exclamation point for you! (Because I love them too!)
HUGS!
Aww, thanks guys. Yeah, it's weird; I already have x5 books 'out there', just in ebook only. Nathaniel; that's a lot (well done).
But oddly, going into print feels just as exciting, even though it's a book I wrote 3 years ago. Actually, more nerve racking, as I'm even more paranoid about any errors which may have snuck in, and have been agonising over trim size etc.
It was really nice this weekend though. I fell back in love with that story as I read and edited it.
16hrs spent reformatting in the end, but it's there! Just waiting for my lovely cover designer to do their thang. Then I can order my proof copy. Yippeeeeee!!!
Back at the grindstone (day job) today, after a weekend of book working. :-/
So, excited but very tired (((Monday HUGS))) to you all.
It's Monday. It's almost half-past August. It's not raining. I've finished the first draft of the latest Work. All of which means I have a window in my British reserve.
You may all have hugs.
TL - Thank you for my Monday Hugs!Jane - Congratulations!
V.M. - I'm giving you a bag of 10 hugs to take with you and an extra hug here.
Love & Hugs to All, Sue

Aww VM; big reassuring hug for you.
Just remember there's no such thing as bad publicity (unless they spell your name wrong) ;-)

Awwww. I am hope that things have improved since. Sending you bright white healing light and a bug hug. xxx
Ooh Denise; that's my favourite kind of light <3 And yes, thank you. Merely carrying on the hugs to help others. We all go through moments of doubt occasionally.

I had a bad week end myself, but thankfully, it didn't involve any pet deaths. I just had to cancel a trip to see my family in Montreal. Never believe what the internet says. Even if it is directly from a government website. :(
